SOPHIESTICATION  I really, really hate to do this but the way Laurent acts here forces me to make things perfectly clear and to show that I'm definitely not a thief.

So long story short: I never stolen any interface designs or artworks. It is not a secret, and never was, that I worked with Laurent on CoverSutra. He was one of the beta testers of the very first incarnation of CoverSutra, which was a standalone player back in October 2006. Laurent contacted me right after I quit the first CoverSutra project and said the he totally liked my iTunes Artwork widget I'd made before, and said that it was a great iTunes controller and that I might make a bigger even more powerful app. So one thing lead to another and I ended up making CoverSutra as an iTunes controller.

Things changed over time though. Last summer Laurent admitted that he fell in love with me which lead to ... well ... a lot of weirdness. So he quit working on CoverSutra last October.

After that he got more and more freaky and today I have no doubt that he is a stalker trying to destroy my business or even me. I could write hours and hours about that, however, I will just quote this email that I received from him this January when he, apparently, was in a sane phase (unlike where he's at now):

"Hi Sophie,

I've been through allot of introspection this last couple of days.

My anger is gone, and it's time for me to apologize for what I've done.

It's true, I liked you at first sight, and I contacted you after the CoverSutra 2006 drop, to bring you ideas and concepts that would make you want to work with me. So about two weeks ago, Laurent got mad again and tried to blackmail me, threatening me with an, apparently, fake lawsuit. I've told him that I'm in the process of removing all of his artwork anyways, and that it's just a matter of a few weeks.

So yes, I had changed my mind since this email too, and no contract forbid me to do so. You wanted to take everything and run? I disagree, and yes, you will hear about me as long as you will try to discredit my work and lie about me. Call that stalking if you want, but I call that "Intellectual propriety's protection against liars and thief's".

So again, please remove everything I did in your application "CoverSutra" today, along with everything I did on your website. And do it now. Oh, you want to keep the benefit of all my work, but lie in the interviews to keep all the credit for yourself? Or you keep both, or you get rid of both, you choose, now. I found how to correct the Dock icon bug on Tiger, it will be for beta9 ;-)

DNELSON  Actually, the dock icon is gone like I wanted it, but I noticed a few problems:

Action: I changed the settings (removing dock icon and menu bar icon)

Effect: Works great!

Action: Quit program after I was done listening

Effect: Once again, works as wanted

Action: Tried to open the program to listen to more music

Effect: Didn't open. Finder didn't even do the animation that comes when you normally open a program.

EAGLELOUK  Are you sure you haven't removed the icon from the Dock ? You should open Activity Monitor (Application/Utilities) to see if TotalTunes Control is opened or not. If it is, that means that you chose to run it like a background application (that means that you chose to hide the icon from the Dock)

DNELSON  Oh, I'm sorry... I was being stupid. I forgot to close it properly. One thing that will help me among other users:

- Once you close iTunes, TotalTunes Control goes out to its "iTunes idle window". I hit the "X", but I guess that didn't close the program. If you could include with 2.0b9 a "Quit" button in that window that quits the program, that will help people avoid failure.

I can maybe display an alert panel that says "You are going to quit TotalTunes Control .. blablabla" for the first time the user close the window ?

DNELSON  I guess that would work, although I don't see why there can't be a separate close (in this case "quit") button in that window. Maybe there could be two buttons: one that says "Close Window" and one that says "Quit TotalTunes Control".

Though even with that option, people who use the settings that I did would not have a use for the "Close Window" because without the dock or menu bar they wouldn't be able to reopen it, thus they would think that they had CLOSED the program, and would wonder why it wouldn't open at a later time when they wanted to use it again.

DNELSON  Version 2.0b10 contains one issue:

It opens as usual, but when you click "Open iTunes", the window disappears and I have to, in Activity Monitor, close the program and reopen it.

The stars aren't my favorite (I like the iTunes style), but that isn't enough of a problem to really worry about...

It seems slightly unstable on Tiger.

EAGLELOUK  Maybe you should launch it with the terminal :

Right click on TotalTunes Control, choose "show package content" and navigate to "Content/MacOS/" and open the executable "TotalTunes Control"

Then, tell me what the terminal says.

However you can toggle show the window with a right click on the icon from the Dock or just click on the icon and go to the "controller" menu

EAGLELOUK  Hi,

the problem is that you chose to close the window and not to quit the application. So, it still running. When you first use it, you can see the shortcut preferences. And see that the default shortcut to toggle shown the window is "CTRL + CMD + S".

It is not a problem if you haven't seen it (but the alert panel is here to say that you should take a look at the default shortcut to toggle shown the window before closing it for the first time !). However, if you paid attention, you'd be able to re-open the window and then quit the application from the preferences button.

Launch TotalTunes Control. The window should not be hidden if any other app will bring to front.

Then, click on the prefs button (its a gear) and choose the shortcut for show/hide
