WHIT_G  This software is *awesome*. I just got my first Nokia phone and was pleasantly surprised to discover that Nokia really helps me sync with my phone in a reasonable, hack-less way. I'm very impressed.

The only thing that knocks it down a star is that the smattering of photos that I put into an album in iPhoto that are intended to go on the phone end up in a web of sub-folders on the phone's memory card that mimic iPhoto's library directory structure. This makes the gallery a colossal pain to navigate through (and finding what you want requires that you know what year you added the photo to your iPhoto library), rendering it useless to "flip through" as you would if you were showing photos to a friend. I can't imagine why the Nokia software isn't programmed to cull them into a single folder.

I'm not seeing any evidence on the web that others are getting this problem, so it's possible that this problem is limited to my XpressMusic 5310.

***..

PETERSCHAUFUSS  A very nice program with good features and well integrated with iTunes and iPhoto.

However one main flaw remains through all versions: The program insists on converting perfectly playable .m4a AAC files into .mp4 AAC files (essentially the same) on my N95.

This uses both time and HD space and is completely unnecessary. It looks like the latest n95 profile file lists .m4a as files as OK (a hack you could add yourself before) but it still converts them ???

Also the file browser is a bit confusing as it displays all files in the current folder as well as in all subfolders when you select one, not very Mac like or usefull.

If these two things are fixed then 5 stars from me :-)

PETERSCHAUFUSS  I'm happy to report that the problem with unnecessary transcoding has been fixed in version 1.2 and later :-)

They've even added custom transcoding settings.

GREGORGY  Still no E60 support

I got the E60 because it is one of the few phones that is just that - a phone.

MEEGO  well maybe nokia didn't make a "multimedia transfer" app for "just a phone"...

Sorry for the unconstructive criticism ^^

GREGORGY  So just a phone does not have:

-Caller pictures

-Ring tones

Perhaps such smarty-pants replies need a little education first...

MEEGO  As i said, unconstructive criticism ^^

However, i am not sure you'll want to use this app for caller pictures. You would be much better off editing them in Address Book. All NMT can do for you concerning caller pictures is import iPhoto pictures, which you then have to set inside your E60 where i believe you don't have zoom/pan controls (correct me if i'm wrong). NMT may not be the best choice for caller picture.

As for ring tones, i guess it's a matter of personnal preference. Unless you frequently change your ringtones, Bluetooth File Exchange works fine. It does not take more than two clicks with "Send file to BT device" shift-command-B shortkey.

I believe NMT wasn't made for your kind of device in the first place. Plus the soft is still beta. This obviously does not mean its support should not be considered but you can't blame Nokia for not making this a priority.

Hope you found less smarty-pants and more education in that comment,

Cheers

edit: i see E60 support at http://europe.nokia.com/A4423135 ...

GREGORGY  V1.2 does indeed work!

Thank you to Nokia. It is always comforting to know that more companies are taking us seriously. In the past (especially pre-OS X days) the general feeling one got as a Mac user was that software developers for major hardware products failed to realise our needs. Great to see the industry fore-runners for a myriad of hardware devices are finally realising not only are mac users needy but also power users. Props to Garmin, Sony Ericsson, Nokia and DLink to name a few...

CHRIS FAM  Why only recently become so active making software for the Mac? I already sold my N70 and other because I always had to use a Windows (with the PC Suite) when backup and stuff or transfer large item. Thanks for being late!

THOMAS BOELSKIFTE  This is really excellent!

And Nokia, it took a while, but thank you for finally accepting the Mac platform as a viable and serious customer base!

This is a "real" Mac-app, and Nokia has used the best of the best interface elements on the Mac. Very nice indeed, and long over due:)

Thank you Nokia, if this is your standard for Mac Software, keep it coming!

HERVĂ© 5  perfect with the N70, both via bluetooth or usb (way faster via usb).

One single wish: allow caching of large files to be cancelled -I had a big movie on the external card which turned caching endless until I tried via usb...

JDUB800  A superb, well designed Mac-like piece of software from Nokia. I'm stunned.

Allows iTunes and iPhoto integration, plus more. If you have a supported phone, it works a treat. Recommended. :D
