SUNFALL I found that out, thanks! When I posted that comment I hadn't gotten Snow Leopard yet. When I tried it the program worked fine. (Version 2.1.1)

SUNFALL This is actually a question. Is the latest atypetrainer4mac compatible with Snow leopard? I'm going to update to that, and I know already that some of my applications won't yet work. Thank you. (Version 2.1.1)

DR.S. I am an oldster, and yet I would like to learn touch typing. Since my last comment here about a year ago aTypeTrainer4Mac went from version 1.3 to 2.0.3, steadily integrating new and useful features. In this time, I went from hunt-and-peck typing to touch typing with 100 % accuracy at an actual speed of 20 words per minute. I won't be able to participate successfully at a typing contest, but I think that the daily typing exercises help to keep my fingers and my brains in a fairly good shape... (Version 2.0.3)

THE LYON The system is very good, especially the option to choose the words I want to practice. I´m having a great experience with this app. I would like to see other option like words per minute. I think that an explanation of the position of the fingers will be very usefull for the first time user. Thanks for this good app.

SUNFALL I've been using this typing program for quite a while. I like the fact that I can import RTF files, and type from Web pages. This program has helped me improve my typing speed from 10 wpm a few months ago, to 24 wpm now. Thank you. (Version 2.0)

RORO01 I'm not sure. I don't think an application is necessary. It is possible to learn touch typing online. Go to: http://www.sense-lang.org/typing/ (Version 1.5)

VALENTIN VASSILEVSKI I am sure, the application is not necessary. Go to http://typingsoft.com/all_typing_tutors.htm (Version 1.5)
| Oct 31 2008 |
ALABEMOS I suppose if you have continuous internet service, you can learn online, but especially in the schools, we don't necessarily want a child to be online unsupervised, and in my part of the world, the school does not have internet access. This program is ideal for our school for those reasons. (Version 1.5)
| Nov 23 2008 |
RORO01 A very valid point. I totally agree with you. (Version 2.0)
| Nov 24 2008 |
VALENTIN VASSILEVSKI the other valid point could be the following: the typing tutor, that you mean, supports "only" 12 languages as I see; it is not few, but aTypeTrainer supports much much more languages and layouts i.e. Afgan, Armenian, Brazilian. Bulgarian, Belorussian, Canadian, Colemak, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Estonian, Finnish, Hungarian, Icelandic, Kazakh, Latvian, Macedonian, Norwegian, Persian, Polish, Romanian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Swedish, Thai, Ukrainian AND! endless variety of self made layouts made using layouts editor Ukelele (Version 2.0)

PAOLO.DONA I've been using many typing tutors on the past months, but this one is very slick and integrates seamlessly with my mac. One cool things you can do is load a text file in your browser and then link it to the software. This way I manage to practice using complex source code files. That's a thing I couldn't do properly with other tools. Good job Valentin! (Version 1.4.1)

LOVEMYMACS I have used as many online and software programs as I could find on google or discover through forums. I am learning to type dvorak after years of thinking about it but not knowing how to proceed. So I'm getting faster and faster but I was faced with a growing problem. Every program or website I have used has broken the learning process into the same basic steps: home row first, then they added additional keys in layers to all of the previous layers. Here's the problem - I got faster and faster at the home row, slightly less fast at the next level and so on until my skills were weakest at the last keys added and I got the least consistent practice at those. So - along comes this miracle of a program. Miracle or obvious? I'm not really sure. I realize at this point it's either this feature or years of practice. With this program I'm offered the usual sequence that others use - I suppose it makes sense to do it that way - but this one adds something I've been really, really hoping to find. It lets me select which keys to practice if I want to. I can't thank this guy enough for this feature. Before I found it I was typing at about 60 words per minute on the home row, 40 with the next closest keys added in, thirty with the bulk of the keys, but 26 with everything added in. And this just wasn't changing fast enough for me because those last keys - although not as common, were messing up everything else when I was trying to really type. I'm trying to get really fast at this - I'm a keyboard musician and I want to make typing easier on my hands - Dvorak is everything I thought it would be in terms of ergonomics, but I don't want to take forever to get fully fluent. Anyway - if you've read this far - this feature is why I made a donation and am so enthusiastic. As a keyboard player - when something is particularly difficult we isolate it and practice it. We don't just keep playing the whole piece over and over again hoping for the best. Read the rest of the review for all of the rest of the features. But this feature sets this program above everyone else if you're looking for real mastery. (Version 1.4.1)

BEHNAM Touch typing may be the best way of typing. But it is the only way for those who want to use their Mac to type in a foreign language. In that sense, aTypeTrainer4Mac exceeds the expectations and with the ability to import rtf text files, it is amazingly adaptable to any learning needs, even for complex scripts. It is already a very good tool, it can only get better! (Version 1.4.1)

I was just about to write you for a renewal of the free licensekey... and found to my astonishment that you now have given your fantastic software "donationware" status! Great! And congratulations on a new era of aTypeTrainer4Mac!! We have just sent you a donation of $50. A small price, compared to the fact that our 13 year old daughter ENJOYS learning touchtyping via your software! A great foundation for her future! Thanks for your kind help and for the worlds BEST computer based touchtype tutor. I have tried many other touchtype software products, both PC and MAC based, but they don't even comes close to the high quality and flexibility that your software has. PC users must be very jealous!! Best Regards and keep up the great work! (Version 1.4.1)

SLAPSHOT Overall, I like the program. I admit I haven't had the time to make a steady course out of it, as in school fashion, but the exercise system lets me catch up quickly to where I left off. Don't stop improving it though because the application is a good one. (Version 1.4)

Congratulations on a simple but effective program,I like the just for this reason I don't like fancy dressed up program for distractions ,just the straight typing drill,so one can concentrate on what you are trying to learn and I mean concentrate, not watching frogs swallowing insects or balloons popping as you hit them I have on another program. I do use them but always go back to TypeTrainer4Mac, because I feel I am getting ahead faster here than any of the others

ABSOLUTEMACIST This is a five-star program, by far the easiest and most comprehensive touch-typing trainer I have come across. It is a joy to use, and has a wealth of features to aid you as you learn the process. Particularly useful is the text grab function, which allows you to import the text of whatever web page you have open at the time to practice from. Many thanks Valentin for this great application! DANNYA I Have been using this software on and off for about 4 months and it has taken me a while but it has become addictive. It is exceptionally easy to use and customize. I have been a hunt and pecker for 15 years, so it is very hard to teach an old dog new tricks, but it is happening slowly but surely. I recommend this software to any one who wants to learn ,practice or improve their skills. Thanks Valentin, this is a great product (Version 1.3)

DR.S. Since quite some time I closely observe the development of the aTypeTrainer4Mac: I think that it is now a powerful typing trainer in the classroom as well as at home and a versatile tool for type training of various languages with various keyboards. Because I am still in the stage of Hunt and Peck typing, I particularly like the numerous monitoring possibilities of my typing progress (Log, Levels etc.). Furthermore, I think that aTypeTrainer4Mac is getting sex appeal from its embedded browser icons. However, I suggest that more browsers are taken into account so that everybody sees some browser icons in the aTypeTrainer4Mac window (iCab, SeaMonkey etc.). (Version 1.3)

DBW First, I didn't understand the difference between "train" mode and "select" mode. After reading your superb online manual, I saw the light! I simply had to see the solution from a completely different (new) viewpoint... and when I did, I understood your solution, it really is perfect for learning typing: the possibility to easily customize the steps... and text, the way I want it. Even without customization, your software can be used "out-of-the-box". The fact that the software automatically detects what keyboard layout is used and automatically adjusts the levels accordingly, is simply perfect. You really use Mac OSX to our advantage! Many deveolpers can learn allot from you! Other solutions on the market, at least for Mac, only work for the main languages (for example: English, German and French) and corresponding keyboard layouts. Your solution makes it much easier for support of other languages and keyboard layouts. A truly INTERNATIONAL typing tutor solution! Great! And this is just the beginning! We are only at beta... so I am looking forward to the official release! A dream come true! Thanks! (Version 1.3)

CHRIS-CHRIS I used to have a PC and I tried tap'touche a few times... now I'm on Mac and I must say this softaware is very addictive. Please keep Typetrainer as simple and "basic" as it is now because that's all you need if you truly want to learn. I love the fact that you relly have to type "delete" when you make a mistake because you'll need to use that "delete pinkie" a lot in the real life. tap tap tap thanks! (Version 1.2.5)

DZORDZ I am happy to see that the app is using whatever key-layout is active. This is great, because I am trying to learn on a self-made-croatian-dvorak-style key-layout (In croatian there is no standardized dvorak key-layout).

JOESEPH Dear Mr. Vassilevski, I truly need to command you for creating such a friendly tool, I still type with 2 fingers, never learned how somewhat too much of a shame for an old man. However all is not lost, I have tried before and the result were to say the least disastrous, this program is truly user friendly and it will take more than a month to get at the proper level of ease, so do let me know when it becomes available to purchase, it is a must for any ex-pc user reformed into apple mac. I highly recommend this tool for all who need ease, function. Lusignan Joeseph (Version 1.1)

TABRUNER This is an excellent app for learning and practice! I learned Qwerty in Jr. High and am now learning Dvorak with this app. This is much more useful and pleasurable than past experience learning to type. I wish I could have learned Dvorak years ago with "aTypeTrainer4Mac"! Keep up the good work Mr. Valentin! (Version 1.1)

CASSIOTONES I didnt try it for that long, but so far it is very good. I just loved the fact it automatically detects the keyboard layout. The app icon is cute and the general design of it is clean and beautiful. I just dont like that opening yellow elipse with the buttons "register" and "try", reminds me of windows apps, but I think that is supposed to annoy and will be gone at the final version. TAMMO80 A very nice typing tutor. It's very basic, just like a typing program should be. Very nice is the support for multiple keyboard layouts, I'm trying to learn to type Cyrillic on a Dutch keyboard. Within one day, I'm already at 60 characters per minute. (Now if only I could understand what I type...) (Version 1.1)
