SHOCK J Appears to no longer function under Snow Leopard. Not sure if it's a MacFusion or MacFuse issue (or both). Hopefully theses issues get resolved quickly as they both are indispensable tools. (Version 2.0.3)

MICHAEL KWASNICKI It would be nice if the Finder Icon was not redrawn 60 times per second or so, making operations on the desktop less responsible. (Try Quartz Debug and watch yourself) Also a feature request is to be not forced to set a manual mount point. Instead it would be nice if it mouts the same way as all the other mounts. Just in /Volumes/ with an automatically generated folder with the name of the server or so. The rest is working well and as promised. (Version 2.0.3)

BISLEY just I'm stick with 1.2b3 because of this feature. When MacFusion 2.x get automount feature I will use it :) btw great and essential app for me. (Version 2.0.3)

WORLD28 This version is a disaster. All favorites have disappeared, and connections are all impossible with SSHFS (no mount, unrecognized password) ! By the way, I wrote Applescripts for SSHFS, that work fine, which confirm that this version of macfusion is TOTALLY buggy. A shame, even for an opensource program. (Version 2.0.2)

JETFIREDX Yeah it seems pretty unstable still with FTP as well. Trying to change the default path to ~/Comcast caused it to crash after an error about being unable to create the mount point. (However typing the full path in worked fine the next time.) Glad to see MacFusion getting some updates though! Hopefully it will just continue to get better. (Version 2.0.2)

NICK.V Version 2.0.1 still seems very buggy. I get crashes when I go to the MacFusion tab for a favorite or try to mount via SSH using a password on the keychain. My advice is to stick with an older build (the last one I have is 1.3 Beta 3) for now. (Version 2.0.1)

MGORBACH Nick. Thank you for the feedback. Please report these crashes in the Trac site: macfusionapp.org/trac. It's very hard for me to fix these unless they are reported, as they do not happen on my computer. What I need to fix these crashes you mention are crash logs as well as specifications on the type of machine you are using.

NICK.V I submitted the bug for the Macfusion tab crash. The keychain crash appears to be fixed now with the latest build... (Version 2.0.2)

MARK EVERITT I can't seem to add favourites in version 2.0. I can connect to server, but the Favourites menu item is greyed out as are all the menu items in the configuration box. Otherwise it's fantastic as always! (Version 2.0)

MGORBACH You should be able to add favorites by clicking the plus button in the main window (not the menuitem). (Version 2.0)

MARK EVERITT Sorry, that's what I meant by the menu items in the configuration box. Everything in the plus and the cog is greyed out. (Version 2.0)

MGORBACH hmm, I'm not sure how this happened, but a bug I thought I killed earlier seems to have reappeared. Will be fixed in very short order. (Version 2.0)

MARK EVERITT Thanks. I'm liking the new interface, very slick! (Version 2.0)
| Jul 21 2008 |
MGORBACH Should be fixed now. You can either re-download it from Macupdate, or do a "check for updates" from Macfusion's menu. The new version is 2.0.1. Apologies to all! (Version 2.0)

MIKEDFUNK I am not able to save my password for an FTP mount with v2.0.1 on Mac OS 10.5.4. When I check "Save Password in Keychain" and click OK to mount it says "The application ftpfs_askpass quit unexpectedly" and then slides down a notice - "Could not mount filesystem: Mount has timed out." Would love to be able to save passwords and load them from the keychain. (Version 2.0.1)
| Jul 22 2008 |
MARK EVERITT I've noticed this too, but I occasionally have keychain issues anyway so I put it down to that. I'll do a repair permissions before I put it down to macfusion. (Version 2.0.1)

SCORCH Amazing. Just what I was looking for. Very straight-forward and works beautifully with macFUSE 10.5-1.5.1. No restart required (the installer for macFUSE warns about this). You can even quit the app and have the mounted disk(s) remains. (Version 1.2b3)

NO LEGGED SNAKE This program is great! I mean, you can do this using osx anyway, but this program just makes it really easy. Its really slow to read and write to your ftp mount but thats got nothing to do with the program and everything to do with the speed of your internet connection. I'd definitely recommend this one to web developers. (Version 1.2b3)

ARVIDTP I want to like this app, but so far all it does when I try to connect to an FTP server is beachball ALL my apps for upwards of 5 minutes (I can't do anything at all with the mac, in any app!) then says unmounted next to the FTP account in the MacFUSE list when it is finally done with this. WALKI-TALKI.COM Oh, my God!!! It's the app I have been dying to have. The FTP volumes that I mounted via Tiger never worked. I could download, but not upload. This one so far works with both my servers, ftp and sftp. Frankly, I am not even sure which Macfuse I'm using, the Google one or the one I installed via fink. I assume they are the same. Either way, the initial test of this software has worked magnificently. You, sir, may have obviated the need for an (s)ftp client altogether. :) (Version 1.2b3)

MGORBACH For those of you having problems with authentication and write access, I apologize. There is a simple workaround for now, and I will be fixing this by default in an upcoming version. For now, using MacFusion 1.2 Beta 3, please add "-odefer_auth" (minus the quotes) to the advanced options field in your ssh or ftp account. This has been known to fix many such issues. SHOCK J Going to have to stop using MacFusion until they update it properly. Regardless of which user I use to connect to a server with (including root), I no longer have write access if I connect via MacFusion. I'm backing using sshfs for Darwin until MacFusion gets the bugs out. Too bad, MacFusion is super easy to use versus sshfs, which has no UI. Same problem with 1.2beta2 as well. (Version 1.1)

SHOCK J Creating a symbolic link to the new location of the MacFuse extension where MacFusion expects it to be seems to be a temp workaround. MacFusion will give you a warning that it has not been verified with the version of MacFuse (0.4.0) that you are running and it could cause problems. To make symlink (in Terminal): "sudo ln -s /System/Library/Filesystems/fusefs.fs/Support/fusefs.kext /Library/Extensions/fusefs.kext" Of course , you have to be an admin to do this. (Version 1.1)

SHOCK J Yes, I have encountered the same problem after upgrading to new version of MacFuse. I read the Changelog and the latest version of MacFuse has repackaged and moved the installed components to new locations. This is probably why MacFusion now longer works. It's looking for MacFuse in the wrong place now. Probably an easy fix for the developer(s). Hope they get to this quickly as I love this little app. :-) (Version 1.1)

MACLOVER1.1 It seemed to work so so... stopping the connection midway during an upload.. guess this was due to MacFUSE.. I now installed 0.4 from Google and MacFusion tells me MacFUSE is not installed.. oh well I'll keep using Fire Ftp right within Firefox which kicks booty (I don't know much about all these protocols, I just need basic ftp abilities really :-) (Version 1.1)

NAOH It works wonderfully for me. I've managed to connect to a range of FTP servers. One thing that I would like added, is a way to allow FUSE to take control of NTFS volumes. I have seen instructions on how to do this manually, but it really is too much hassle. It would be great if there were a menu option to choose an NTFS volume that were mounted through the Mac OS X driver. Doing this would unmount the volume in question and re-mount it through FUSE. The only two variables involved appear to be the volume name and the volume identifier. They should be easy enough to obtain from the OS. Apart from that one wish, it's showing huge promise. Keep up the good work! (Version 1.1)

GANNET Ah, a great program - this is so useful. Always wondered why OS X can't normally write to FTP volumes. One request though: can you make it so that you can drag it around the way you can with other menu extras? (or why not make it an actual menu extra instead of an app?) (Version 1.1)

GRAHAM PERRIN MacFusion issue 9 comment 6 http://code.google.com/p/macfusion/issues/detail?id=9#c6 explains why the menu extra icon can not (will not) be draggable. http://code.google.com/p/macfusion/issues/detail?id=156 arises from the developer's discussion of user preferences for the menu extra, and for a Dock icon. ABTON Had the same problem with MacFusion not storing port numbers. It appears that if you add a server that is not currently available (due to network problems, for example) the port number always defaults to 22 rather than the one you specify. If the server is available then it works fine. A small bug but annoying. Apart from this, nice software. (Version 1.1b2)

MAC0852 I didn't want to mar my previous review. Seems as though the app doesn't support/ retain custiom ssh ports options. Each time I set a custom port, MacFusion persists in only connecting to the standard (22). This is the only minus in an otherwise great app. (Version 1.0)

I currently use MacFUSE, and have most of my remote mounts already setup as bash aliases, but this is a nice touch. I especially like the simplicity of the "no-dock" icon approach and the unobtrusive menu-bar item.
