TRENTI  I just lost 2 1/2 hours of my work by having this application crashed. And let me say, this was not the first time it crashed. It liked crashing in Leopard, and it seems to have this behaviour in Snow Leopard. Is this a hidden feature of this app, crashing over and over again?

FIX IT! Or change the application name to ubercrasher.

Oh, and btw: While adding chapter marks in post-production one should be able to navigate through it with the keyboard instead of being forced to use the mouse to activate the fields to fill in. Jeez...

GLOBETROTTERDK  How does this compare to WireTap Studio? WTS seems to have an advantage on the amount of input sources, but Übercaster seems to have more editing capabilities, or am I wrong? I am trying to decide what to get to start podcasting.Übercaster at first glance seems to have a higher learning curve for a newbie.

NDLAWMAN  Ubercaster is great. It turns a neophyte like me into a professional performer, producer and editor. Because of its ease of use, my family thinks that I am a genius. I have posted some podcasts that sound professional. This is a great buy. I only wish I would have known that MU would be offering it discounted!

FUNKY7  That application is just great!

I love the ability to automatically encode episodes into different formats with one mouse click.

That's a real time saver when creating separate versions of a podcast (e.g. a MP3 version and an enhanced AAC version)!

MACFEVRE  At first look, this app looks a little confusing. Once you use it and get used to it, it's a great program. Once you go through the screencasts and tutorials on the website, it becomes an incredible product that is truly innovative. And, unlike GB, it automatically saves, and doesn't do an entire mixdown and take a half-hour every time you save it. The Release portion is absolute genius. Everything is automatic.

GRYPHONENT  For $80 I get the entire iLife package... the new one, just a couple of months away, including all the goodies from iMovie, iDVD, iPhoto, iWeb, iTunes, to Garageband! Bet the new version has lots of goodies. Ubercaster... I might buy for $25 or $30... but definitely not for $80!

MACFEVRE  Have you tried it? Why pay for any software when there is freeware available??? This is the greatest podcasting software that I've seen. It does much more with podcasting than GarageBand, and it does it better. At least look at the screencasts on the website before saying it's not worth $80, because it is worth it. You always get what you pay for. If you want a $20 program, that's what you'll get.

No, I don't work for Ubercaster, either. I just like the app.

KELLHOUND1  I have Ubercaster, and I'm very happy with it. Sure, you could do exactly what Ubercaster does with Garageband and iTunes, but it makes things more difficult. Furthermore, Ubercaster is a lot easier to use. For instance, in Garageband if you want to add an intro and outro jingle you'd have to import the files from the hard drive and physically place them at the beginning and at the end once the podcast if finished.

With Ubercaster you can make templates that have your different jingles, and when you're ready to play the outro at the end, just press the hotkey button and it records away.

Output to music files is much better than in Garageband. In Ubercaster you can switch between AAC and MP3, and also designate your own settings extensively.

True $80 is a lot of money, but if you podcast on a regular basis, Ubercaster is a beautiful product. In fact, after I tried Ubercaster I started podcasting more because of how easy it was. When I was using Garageband I'd only update my Website podcast page every once in a while because the process was so laborious.

In any event, download the app and try it out for a while. No harm if you don't like it.
