DANA SUTTON  Somehow this reminds me of the woman who allegedly called Apple support to complain that her Mac's cup holder was broken. Turned out that she thought that's what her optical drive was for.

MACUPDATE ADMIN  I was under the impression that all computers contain carcinogens already.

MCDAN333  Good stuff. If you ever get to the Computer History Musuem in Mountain View, CA, don't miss the cold war era radar console with the REAL built-in ashtray! Now I can play virtual cold warrior in my own living room, keeping the world safe for democracy!

KOBALT  I'd like to see a hookah option and perhaps a Sherlock Holmes pipe.

ALJUK  Is there a joint / roach option for those of us whose smoking doesn't involve tobacco?

VIRTUALRUFFY  Well how about adding coughing sounds to randomly go along with it.

-smoke rings too and other shapes. Everybody knows that relative that can practically puff out a giraffe...

WGIBSON648  In a subsequent version, is there any thought to having an option of cigars rather than cigarettes?

MOJIFEROUS  1. I think a cigar and a joint would be awesome! In fact I will add them soon!

2. As for Smoke rings... I'll try and see if they look okay- unfortunately they would have to come from off-screen and not from the ashtray area... making it look realistic may be a little difficult.

3. I never added any kinds of sounds to Desktop Cigarette because I always figured it would make the program too bothersome... although if you really want them email me...

LUCKY LOUIE  Perhaps the greatest software of all-time. Pure genius and does exactly what it claims to do!

CROWEATER DOWNUNDER  And i thought only Windows inspired such frivolity!

I'm making the transition from Windows PC to the world of iMac & obviously have a lot to learn...good to see that humour survives here, the planet needs it!

So what if the graphics aren't the greatest? It's only a bit of fun so just enjoy...it's certainly a much cleaner way to indulge in the wicked habit & the environment will appreciate it.

Cheers!

MARK.ANDERSON  Let's see...

Poor graphics, stupid idea & bad implementation all while promoting one of the worst habits ever.

I weep for the future.

MOJIFEROUS  Thank you for your comments, but please re-read the post and the readme, as I comment on the poor quality of the graphics, the half-baked implementation, and the fact that I made the program in a grand total of three hours... I am open to suggestions on how to improve Desktop Cigarette in any way possible! I also didn't realize that poor code and smoking were such dangerous things...

Thank you!

MACNERD1984  Lack of a sense of humour, poor attitude, over serious and whiny. Get a life for pity's sake. It's just a frivolous little waste of space - If you don't like it then I'm sure you can find something more stoney faced to do.

RICHMOOG  This has got to be the oddest and funniest piece of software humour I have ever come across!! It's that useless it's great to have in the dock when one is showing a PC user your new shiny OS (X) Dock.. when they point out things and ask 'What's that?', there's fun to be had!! 10/10.

NICK.V  I can't wait for version 2.0 with antialiased alpha-channeled translucent smoke!

This is a great tool to remind me to light up (even though I don't smoke).

FROMKOREA  Well - I always like to smoke with a friend! Unfortunately I can't change ashtrays to use the Golden Nugget one - it holds the cigarette far more securely and the ash doesn't fall on the desktop!

MOJIFEROUS  Why? Not really sure. Because it was there. Or wasn't there... Now it is there. Or here.
