HARDCAT  What ToDo 1.3 and others of this type are obviously very similiar so it's a matter of preferenceas to what one feels comfortable with. WTD looks good and all parts work are well integrated.

It is very easy for users to comment on the price of software. Perhaps if we knew the time, effort and commitment required to publish software we wouldn't be so critical. That said, the developer might want to review his pricing to ensure WTD remains competitive.

Someone commented on the date being displayed incorrectly.... That depends on where you live. For those in Europe it is the correct format. Perhaps offering users a choice of formatts will address this issue.

MACBLISS  This appears to be a fine new task management app. I am very impressed with its simplicity and how well-thought out the interface is. And of course the hierarchical to-do/outilne ability is one of its main benefits over other apps of its kind. And the "shelf" concept is excellent.

A few things I'd like to see are:

• A URL field

• Rich Notes

• Alarms

• Integration with iCal -- 2 way sync, so you could take your tasks on your mobile phone phone or PDA

• Smart folders

The program is off to a fine start. This is one to watch!

RPPHOTO  Nice looking app. I like the way it categories contexts and due dates, and has a different approach to categorizing than the other gtd apps.

A few things I'd like to see changed:

If you view by context and all projects are selected on the left, you can't tell what project the action is associated with; for instance, I always have several ongoing photo jobs, and the first action after a shoot is to correct files. So, if don't write the client name in every action, I can't tell which client the action is associated with, so I don't know which job it is I'll be working on.

Wish there was an ability to link associated apps, files, and/or folders to the note column. For some reason few developers implement this feature.

Also, wish there was an archiving folder or feature to stash and save finished actions, and the ability to "disappear" them from due date lists.

I'm currently using EasyTask, which isn't great, but I love the ability to drag actions to new due dates and have them change dates automagically; that way I can drag all the actions I haven't finished at the end of a day to the next day without going through every single item. Of course, ET uses an action date and a due date, but it might be cleaner and simpler to only have a due date for each item like What ToDo has now.

I tried dragging items in the due date view, but it didn't seem to work. I wish the due dates didn't require a time-entry to be appled, enabling the possibility of an "all day" type of list when you select the due date view.

The bold headings, and the spacing, in the context views and due date views are extremely attractive; I wish the project view showed the top item in the same way.

I like the way you can drag and drop the actions and projects; that seems like an easy way to set priorities since there's no priority or color-labeling system.

This could easily evolve to one of the best gtd apps.

JSH  I'd like to know how this compares with Easy Task Manager. I've had limited success with that app.

DAVERMONT  Looks promising, easy to understand, setup and use. But it's crashed on me a few times so I can't trust it yet.

The Good: It's easy to set up new projects and action items, and assign a contect (and due date, if it has one). Also easy to drag and drop items to rearrange them, or change a context. The three different views are useful: by project, by context and by due date.

The Bad: It's crashed on me a few times. Once a project had somehow gotten itself both at the top level on the shelf and within a larger project (Work) and WTD kept crashing until I deleted that project and recreated it only within the Work folder. Another crash was when it had problems with a newly created context (agenda) I had assigned some tasks to, and that context did not appear in the Context view (it crashed at that point).

Wishes and Gripes: It would be great if it could export a calendar file that iCal could subscribe to (like Thinking Rock). It would also be nice if one could set a due date without having to set a time (anytime Tuesday). I wish I could change the default time to something other than 6pm. The context popup should be alphabetical. Preferences and Help should be in place before the author starts asking for money ($30 in this case).

Summary: Looks promising, but not yet ready for prime time.

Note to the developer: This could be a great app, definitely keep at it. Test it more and fix those crashes before you ask people to pay and trust their lives to it.
