WEB-JIVE  Tried that. No response.. NADA.. So I just cancelled my account. To bad because I would pay for this service if I thought it worked.

What kills me is I worked for ALLTEL for a decade and my wife still works for them (in then engineering division) and the engineers we talked with have no explanation as to why this doesn't work. They are not doing anything to block this service either. Not good when you can't get it to work with the 4th largest carrier in the U.S.

For the record, please note that our Visual Voicemail widget shows both activation and deactivation instructions. The Learn More, which is available from the registration screen, explains how it works, and what activation codes are.

ROBBCHADWICK  I have now solved the issue with Verizon, so my voicemail is back to normal.

Your de-activation codes do not work with Verizon; and I believe you know that or at least you know there may be an issue since you do advise to call them if you can't get the de-activation codes to work. This info only came once I started the cancellation process with you. Perhaps it's buried somewhere; but the folks here and on Version Tracker are usually early adopters. We don't always read the tech notes.

My point is that I'm sure your widget is nice; but I would only want to use it occasionally. Most of the time I would want my voicemail from my mobile phone. Since you can't simply turn it on & off, you should put a warning UP FRONT about what is going to happen before you entice people to download this widget.

As for your comment on being upfront, note that the widget Learn More link explains how it works, and what activation codes are. Deactivation codes are also available at all times in the widget preferences.

Lastly, note that you can still access your messages by phone when using CallWave. Just call your own cell number from your cell.

TERESA.WHEELER  This is just to clarify the deactivation code issue with Verizon.

CallWave works with the No Answer/Busy Transfer feature offered by many carriers. The code to cancel it on the Verizon network apparently varies depending upon which of their markets you're in. *73 to cancel all forwarding (which is how CallWave works) is straight off the VZW web site, however it did not work for me. I am in Atlanta.

I found *710, among other codes, at Howard Forums, and it did the trick (none of the others listed worked for me). There was a note on the posting (dated from January of 2007) stating that *710, *720 and *730 were being phased out and that *73 was the replacement.

What are activation codes?

Dialing the activation code allows your phone to send unanswered calls to CallWave (so we can display a copy of your messages in your widget).

If you are not completely satisfied with CallWave, you can always go back to your old cell phone voicemail by dialing the deactivation code.

How does it work?

If somebody calls you on your cell phone, and you don't answer, the call forwards to CallWave. CallWave records the message and shows it in your widget.
