ENDUSERGUY  I started using Google Reader when the quality Feed Readers for Mac got greedy. I was a bit wary, but so far I'm happy with this choice of an online reader, and it's partly because of Reader Notifier.

This thing saves a lot window work. Plenty of preference options and flexibility. Never had a crash, never annoying.

TIP: For the newer Mac user, you can have Reader Notifier run at startup by going to the

System Preferences>Accounts>select your account>select Login Items tab -- then add it manually to the list. (All of this is thanks to no dock icon or preference choice, but not a big deal.)

Recommended to anyone using Google Reader. It's one of those little free things that makes life a tiny bit easier.

OLLIE  I've gave the menu bar icons a redesign which work much better with Leopard/Snow Leopard look. Based on a simple RSS icon. You can download the icon set at http://bit.ly/3myPcb

ERUNNO  Reader notifier sometimes fails do check Google Reader periodically. The drop down menu only shows "Checked 1 minute ago..." but this number never changes. Manual checking still works but does not fix the aforementioned problem, only restarting the application does.

ENDUSERGUY  ERUNNO - have you tried a reinstall? This often clears up little problems. Seeing how many people like Reader Notifier suggests that there is a glitch with yours.

BUBBAMAC  What a great application! I didn't want to move away from RSS Menu, but wanted feed integration with my iPhone, so this application provides just that.

The only thing that might be handy is an option to tier the different feeds into sub-contextual menus (like RSS Menu - sorry, it's just a feature I love) that break out the different feeds.

Other than that, a superb piece of software!

MICHAEL VILAIN  Greedy is Leopard-only. The developer says that in the application's listing. So, Greedy might be a good thing for you but it's worthless on my 10.4 system. I'll stick with Reader until RSSMenu is fixed.
