STILL_SPARKLING  I'm so glad I resisted the urge to buy this app when it first came out a couple of years ago. Don't get me wrong, it has a gorgeous interface and it does give you a fairly smooth way to browse your files, BUT that is ALL you can do: browse. You can't delete, move, or copy between folders; you can't flag, group, or otherwise manager images, you can't assign ratings or edit in any way, shape, or form. What a joke! The most gorgeous interface in the world can't make up for such a lack of basic functionality. There are free apps that can do more than FileBrowse.

And considering the glacial pace of updates (there have only been two measly .1 releases in 2 years) and the $25.00 price tag, this app is ridiculously overpriced. I feel bad for the people who've wasted money on this thing.

DRDUL  I purchased a FileBrowse license primarily because of the UI -- it's gorgeous! It's also easy to use (check the developer's website for instructions and some good tips) and fast.

At this stage (version 1.2), FileBrowse is a file browser and nothing more. It really, really needs some basic file management capabilities (flagging, moving and trashing files) to be useful for reviewing and selecting photos and other files. I contacted the developer, and he says that file management is planned to be added, but isn't certain when, as he's working on other things right now. Maybe if more people request that he add file management capabilities (hint, hint!) we'll see them added to FileBrowse sooner rather than later.

JIM NEUMANN  This is a great program which I've used for the past 2 years. The UI, though unconventional, is well thought out (and nicely designed) and offers some real "Hey, how come no one else does that?!" moments. It's also very fast - it can handle my 27000+ iTunes library on an external drive so anything less is cake for FB.

Plus, the developer is very responsive (and a really nice guy!)

One caveatÂ… when you use it, don't think of Finder comparisons, think something NEW!

SOLIDSNAKE  The app looks great and could be pretty usefull however i just went to install it and the 1st thing the app is doing is trying to access https://accesd.desjardins.com. This is address of my bank and where I access my account by Internet so why this app is trying to make this connection?

Thanx littleSnitch...

ROBERT VAN UITERT  FileBrowse only connects to Internet servers when it tries to create a thumbnail of a web page - usually a ".webloc" file, sometimes also ".webarchive" and HTML files. (It'll be an option in the next version.) There's nothing "snitchy" about it.

RAMIREZ.G4  Setting Movie Poster Frame for mp4 movie corrupts source file. No ability to open it afterwards.

Plus, no preview for avi files which are viewable with QuickTime and in Get Info Finder's window...

ROBERT VAN UITERT  I'm terribly sorry about the poster frame bug. It was fixed in 1.0.1.

The next version will have previews and thumbnails of AVI (and WMV) files, as well as a whole bunch of other new features and improvements. It should be ready before the end of this month (March).
