TOM.25 Yes, I thought about it but it's not as easy. And generally, emails come in the order of they have been sent, then in date order. I'll try to think of it again. (Version 2.6.3)

NMEGE Good app but needs fixing (2.6.2) From what i gathered based on the problems i have : Doesn't work if you have the same user name and same password with two different ISPs (won't create account) or even just the same user account with different passwords and ISPs (won't read emails except for the ones on the first account of the two thus created). Wrote to the developer to explain that. Will keep you guys posted of his reply. FMN (MacMini - 10.5.7) (Version 2.6.2)

TOM.25 Hi, as I answered by email, we enter: Email Adress: tom@myhost.fr Incoming server: pop.myhost.fr MyPopBarrier check if (Email Adress already exists) or (if the combination (User Name AND Incoming server) already exist. Email Adress: tom@otherhost.fr Incoming server: pop.otherhost.fr No matter the password, MyPopBarrier doesn't check it. Did I miss something? (Version 2.6.2)

This app's main purpose is to delete e-mails directly on the server without having to download them to your computer first. This is useful, for example, if you want to nuke a bunch of spam without downloading it and letting your mail client's filters deal with it, or getting rid of huge unwanted attachments that are clogging up the inbox on your mail server. This kind of app was more useful back when everybody's connection speeds were slower (e.g. 56K modems), bandwidth was limited, and download limits were much smaller (measured in MB rather than GB). However, it still has its uses. For example, I often work in remote worksites that only have slow dial-up or cell connections. If someone sent me a 20 MB video via e-mail, not only would it tie up the line all day, but I wouldn't be able to get my other e-mail until it was finished downloading. Using an app like MyPopBarrier, I can delete the big attachment on the server and save time, download capacity, and connection charges. Note: I have no association with the author of this app. In fact, I don't even use MyPopBarrier! (I use a competitor's product :-) ). Just wanted to clear up any confusion about apps of this nature. (Version 2.6.1)

DEMOLITION I forgot to add... Yes, Mail can go on the server and delete messages in a manner similar to MyPopBarrier. However, Mail doesn't have anything close to the filtering capabilities of MyPopBarrier. For example, if you're the victim of a mailbombing (e.g. thousands of bouncebacks, a really persistent or malicious spammer, etc.), then this is when an app like MyPopBarrier really shines. Once your rules are set up, it automatically nukes every trace of the offending e-mails. (Version 2.6.1)

JO* Also quite usefull when deleting a bunch of old emails at once on your free email-account (yahoo, gmail, hotmail, ...) in order to free some of the used space. Much easier to work with than most of the web-interfaces. (Version 2.6.2)

FRODO_LIFE works ok for me on Intel Mac Pro. Two things are missing in my book to make it an excellent program: 1. Column with the send date 2. The ability to have each account in a separate window But thanks developer for putting the effort in and making it free. (Version 2.5)

THEBRIX2008 This is a great application and (nearly) unique for the Mac. I have two old POP3 email accounts which are completely overrun with spam but, occasionally, have a worthwhile email sent to them so cannot be ignored for too long. The inbuilt spam checks look "too simple" but, in fact, work very well and it takes a couple of minutes per day to manage these accounts. Much faster than downloading to an email client or redirecting to a Web mail account to filter there! (Version 2.4.9)

EGN Tried this app but all I get are errors like "Error: 20" and "Error: 103". The mail accounts I used are valid and work great with other mail apps. I post this message here as I found no place to report this on the author's web site. (Version 2.4.9)

WHEELIE4 I just wanted to say thanks to the developer. I just switched to a Mac 4 months ago and didn't know an app like this was available for Mac's until today. I used MailWasher (very similar) to manually filter/delete spam on the server before downloading to my WinPC. (I prefer doing it manually than with auto filters) Now with MyPopBarrier I can do it on my Mac. Just like MailWasher, it's simple and to the point. So Thanks a lot. :) (Version 2.4)

JFIELDS You can remove messages directly from the server with Apple Mail as well. Control click on the mailbox you want to examine and select Get Info. A window pops up with a list of all messages on the server and an option to delete selected messages. (Version 2.3.4)

(Version 2.3.1)

VASILIS I was looking for an app like this since MailTicker stopped functioning on my new mailserver. There are some things that can be made better though. First of all, the app should only make a sound when new mail arrives, not every time it checks for new mail! A beep every minute, or even every five minutes for no good reason is very annoying. It's so annoying I can't use this app right now. This should be removed in the next version. Please? And I have a few suggestions: - I would love MyPopBarrier to have a menu-item which shows me how many new mails are waiting on the server. - wouldn't it be possible to delete a message when you press backspace? Or maybe Command+Backspace. That feels more natural than changing the state of a message and then pressing a button, don't you think? - Maybe growl-support for when a new message arrives? But the thing that's most important is that you only hear the alert when a new message arrives. (Version 2.2.6)

VASILIS The developer is very responsive. On his site there is a new version (2.2.7) which only plays sound when new mail has arrived. And you can set the volume of sound. (Version 2.2.6)

MAKAI With MyPopBarrier I've finaIly found an inexpensive (actually free) solution to kill spam directly on the server. Basically easy to setup and use since it runs locally from user's machine, under the OS-X GUI. Works accross multiple email accounts -- much quicker than logging in and out of a number of webmail accounts. Also, selecting messages for purging is a snap; plus messages can get pre-selected as spam or non-spam based on keywords and origin. Not much "bells and whistles" in the latter facility. But appears to work better so far than other spam filter rule systems I've tried elsewhere, although it takes a while (or simply an application restart?) for a new rule to get considered. Generally, documentation (squeezed in the About dialog) is a bit scarce. What's that tiny telefon icon lower down righthand side? Seems to switch some function on/off -- yet which one? (Version 2.2.2)

TOM.25 Thank you for your review. I've made a squeezed document because it's hard to do (in English, I'French) and because nobody never read the Doc ;-) . You don't have to restart after changed the list of words, just click Check List button in the Dictionaries panel (where are the list of words). It could be long if there's a lot of email. The 2 bevel button on the bottom left and right corner were here for me to debug the app. When click the phone bevel button, a small window appear for an account, then close and reappear for the following account etc. (Technical reason : I can't close the module which dialog with the server, I've to close the window containing this module. If not I can't change account). (Version 2.2.2)
