PAPARAZZO1  I've been a pro photog for 40 years. this is by far the best thing since the invention of the camera. along with pro dslr cameras such as the nikon d3 or canon mkIII, photoshop, camera raw, and blurb.com / booksmart - you can now be in total control of a work-of-art, coffee table book with a finished product that looks like you bought it at barnes&nbl. absolutely stunning. i've made a couple so far for gifts - people cried when they received them. the premium paper option makes it all the better. the joy and impact of making your own hard-back art-book is truly beyond description.

KEDOS  I like this better than the book creator integrated with iPhoto. I don't like how it forces advertisements onto the book you're paying for, though.

It seems much more customizable than iPhoto and cheaper. Can anyone comment on the quality?

KOBALT  I like the sounds of this, but that mention of forced advertisements got me worried, though. However when I checked it out online at Blurb I found this:

"All Blurb books feature a small Blurb logo that is easy to replace with your own logo, or remove from your book. You can add your custom logo while in BookSmart with simple drag and drop. If you’re designing your book via PDF to Book, you can choose to remove the logo page during the order process."

Is this what you are referring to, Kedos?

KEDOS  Yes, but that's slightly misleading. You CAN upload your own logo, for a very hefty price (around $15). I think this is absurd. You're already paying an exorbitant amount for the book that you designed, why should you have to pay that much more to remove their silly logo? I was pissed when I found out, but I had already designed the entire book and wasn't about to start over. See this link to see what I'm talking about: http://blurb.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/blurb.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=340&p_created=1223082361&p_topview=1

KOBALT  Ah yes, I see what you mean and I now agree with you. Blurb want their cake and eat it, too!

DJDARLEK  Well I'm impressed! This 'free' program is mainly just an elaborate gimmick to take advantage of their book printing service. However, the program itself is very well designed and is a pleasure to use. It is also fairly extensive and if you're a designer looking for a fancy portfolio like myself, it's excellent.

One big flaw from my personal point of view - it doesn't ship to the UK making this fairly redundant. Please mr. Developer, get in touch with them and tell them to give us a chance! We do pay for our goods on time ya know?

FRANCKY76  Hello,

I went on their website and it seems that they ship to whole europe... if my eyes and my brain work correctly, which is not a certain thing ! :)

NIGEL2112  Elaborate gimmick?

The book design program allows you to print your custom book.

It is the heart of the service!
