XYPHER  The latest release fixed the bug with

EasyEnvelopes where you can't select text without dragging the window, but introduces new ones. Now it won't remember my Font or Font size and defaults or reverts to Lucida Grande 12point every time I try to use or even open it.

Have mailed them about this and am awaiting a response.

XYPHER  Developer has promised to keep me informed concerning this and is working on the problem. Here's a tip he gave which didn't work for me, but might for others.

"One thing you may want to try is to reset Amnesty's preferences for the EasyEnvelopes widgets:

1) Launch Amnesty.

2) Make sure the EasyEnvelopes widget is closed (appears in the menu with no checkmark or dash by its name).

3) Hold down the SHIFT and OPTION keys and (while keeping the keys down) select EasyEnvelopes from the Amnesty menu.

This will reset the widget preferences and EasyEnvelopes will appear centered on your main monitor."

XYPHER  Good news. Switching to the latest version of Easy Envelopes 1.0.6 seemed to cure the problem for me.

DRDUL  What a great app! My initial enthusiasm for Dashboard wore off pretty quickly, and it's been weeks since I last activated Dashboard. My main complaint about Dashboard is it's a different environment form my desktop, and it's not easy to move back and forth between regular apps and Dashboard widgets.

There are a few widgets that I really like, however, so when I discovered Amnesty Singles, I had to try it out. I bought it within 10 minutes, after converting three widgets to run as applications.

Cut-and-paste between regular apps and widgets converted with Amnesty works without problems, which means I can easily use a couple of my favourite widgets — Case Converter and SnatchIt.

Highly recommended!

MESASUPPORT  Users who have installed Safari 3.0b should upgrade to Amnesty Singles 1.2.1 to solve issues introduced by the beta version of WebKit -- thanks!

MESASUPPORT  IMPORTANT: Installing Apple's new Safari beta will cause widgets running in Amnesty to ignore mouse-down-and-drag events for widget repositioning. At this time we strongly advise all users to hold off on installing Safari 3.0b until we can provide a solution for this issue.

TOMIS  This is the feature Apple forgot. This truly makes the dashboard technology useful.

I haven't had a single problem. And the purchase process was painless. I definitely recommend this app.

The only way it could be easier is if they included a quick widget browser within the drop window so I don't have to dig through my system folder when I want to convert a widget. A nice little popup with widgets separated into system and user-installed sections.

Other than that, it's perfect.

ROADTRIPDK  Anyone know if this will work with Yahoo (formerly Konfabulator) widgets as well?

MESADYNAMICS  Sorry, Amnesty Singles only works with Dashboard widgets (or web widgets converted into Dashboard widgets using Amnesty Generator).

MESADYNAMICS  4. How is Amnesty different from Dashboard's "dev mode"?

The "dev mode" is simply a trick to move Dashboard's widgets onto the desktop, where they remain floating over all your windows. You still have to go to the Dashboard to open and close new widgets.

Amnesty is a full-featured Dashboard emulator that offers expanded widget features way beyond what is possible in Dashboard.

HEFF  This capability is already built into Tiger. All you have to do it open terminal, type and run this command "defaults write com.apple.dashboard devmode YES", and then log off and back into Tiger. To move widgets from the dashboard, just click and hold the widget, hit F12 to go back to the desktop, and then release. The widget now appears on your desktop. To move it back, reverse the steps.

MESADYNAMICS  That's not quite accurate. Amnesty allows you to set the window level for any widget on the desktop, and Amnesty Singles allows you to fully run any widget as an individual application. So, we would argue that this capability is in fact not in Tiger.

TAPUZ  I have been waiting for a way around the clumsy dashboard app. Finally I can run my VelaClock and other widgets as standalone applications. Simply brilliant !

COLDFUSION1970  I purchased Amnesty Singles a couple of months ago and i think its a great product.

The only feature that i miss at the moment, is the ability to copy and paste text into the widgets.

I have a couple of widgets that it would be useful to paste text into, but i have to manually re-type the text. But when the widgets are run through the Dashboard its possible to paste the text into the widgets.

I have emailed the developers to see if they plan to add this feature.
