BATTMAN79  This used to work really well, but now I just get the spinning beach ball of death at some point during upload and have to force quit (OS X 10.4.11). Even worse, the email sends before the file has uploaded, leaving multiple recipients with a useless pando file in their inbox (in my case twice, as I tried to resend after restarting the MacBook, only to experience the same problem).

The final nail in the coffin is that the latest Windows installer can't seem to access the Pando servers to install itself in certain IT firewall configurations, making it unnecessarily difficult for PC users to install it.

JWDRISKELL  Strangely enough, the link you've provided is the same link we've used in the "Download Now" link at the top of our page. The difference lies in entering the URL directly in a browser's address bar, and accessing it through our PHP pages.

Thanks for providing the link so that it'll be easily available to others.

PENSKETCH  Actually, when I clicked the "Download Now" link at the top of the page it took me to another page asking if I wanted the free or pro version. When I clicked free it took me to yet another page where I was to choose my operating system. Not especially keen on being redirected several times, I closed that page, came back here, copied the link above, pasted it in the browser and the file downloaded. So if the "Download Now" link as the same as the one above, something is wrong somewhere.

For the last several updates, I've had no problems.

I send MP3 files fairly regularly as part of a web cast I do and this is just what I need.

FINALLY RETIRED  It would be nice if the developer gave us a rest and "ganged" his updates so that we don't have to download updates every "Monday and Thursday." Each tweak can't be that earth shaking that it requires an immediate .01, .02 update. Batch a bunch of tweaks and increment by.5.

LEE123  "complex" This program could not be easier to use. I actually have my mom using it and she does not have any problems (amazingly)! "slimy" I have used this from it beginning beta and have never had any problems. No spam or unwanted mailings of any kind or any thing negative for that matter. It is a little sluggish at times but what do ya want for nothing?

::MILE::  Actually setting it up and using Pando is quite easy and the options it offers are quite convenient...! I find myself using it on a regular basis now...and I even upgraded to the Pro version, which now seems to have enhanced the downloading experience for the recipients, so for me it was worth it...!

(Not sure why, but I never really grew fond of Podmailing, which is probably an interesting alternative for some...)

Unfortunately the upload speeds on my side are still kind of slow, even though I am on a rather fast connection...!? And it is really annoying that even in the full paid Pro version you have to be bothered with banner ads, just like in the free version...! For 25$ they could at least get rid of those...!?

JONTHES  Early versions of Pando were very useful, sent music files, etc. to UK contact for web article. Now whenever I try to open anything, jpg photo, sound file, etc. I get the 'invalid or corrupt' message. So it's completely useless. Running Mac OS 10.4.11.

I removed everything Pando including prefs and history (I uninstalled it in other words) and have installed the two most recent versions with no change.

LUCIANO1  Works very well,

but it has a little bug (never corrected): every time I double-click a pando file, it shows a warning message "Please free some disk space and try again. Not enough free disk space", but it open the file anyway.

I have lot of GB free of course.

Tried to clear all pref files, but it shows again

CLAUCLAU  Advertisement banner are not suitable for all audiences in this however free and useful software.

I never received 2 replies involving foreign language support (which was useful for the development of this program).

Beside the very nice icon, Pando's interface and features seem at the same early stage of podmailer development, and get worse on Windows:

meanwhile podmailer preserves the same interface on both Win and Mac (with a simple interface which is well balanced with its simple features)

Pando for windows fills the screen with questions and warnings and gets into everything,

(if you want to). More popups and so on.

Wish this helps to developers.

M-RICK  as said before they still have not corrected these bugs relative too accented letters, but since the 2 or 3 latest updates, the upload bitrate is very crappy ... Not more than 5 kb/s in average with some picks at 30 Kb/s .....

They know, it looks to be relative too the mac version only and they answer "we were making updates to our servers, wait till next week all will be ok then" ...

JACK75  Still not corrected the problem to support files, messages or path with accentuated letters in names ...

In messages, accentuated letters appears replaced with uncorrect characters, if the file name or the path contains accentuated letters, Pando will not package and upload the file.

The bug as been reported often and still not corrected after several updates !

TOXICTHREE  I don't know.... The last 4 versions of Pando still completely crash every time I open them, no matter how I delete the application support and preference files, and now going back to 1.0.0.2 doesn't even work!!! Using 10.3.9. Maybe it's just not compatible with Panther anymore. If so, shame on you! (As of version 1.5.5.2, it DOES work again on my Tiger machines...)

RJ2  I am still using the older version 1.0.0.2 which works fine.

The new version updates just will not remain open and will crash.

I've tried deleteing the Application support and preference files and he new version (1.5) still crash.

Pando is aware of this problem.

So until they fix this, I recommend that you use the older version (1.0.0.2) which still works.

PEDROTAQUELIM  One thing that always puts me away from Pando is that I have to register and if I am one another platform...say....Windows, I have to download Pando as well to be able to download the file... If your friends are on Linux...well...they cannot dowload the files at all...

'Quickshareit'

I tried this one and it works so far: http://app.quickshareit.com/

It's very practical and fast, no need to register, and works with anyone that has a browser. it's also free. And strangely is not on Macupdate... (?!)

p.s. I am not the developer of this app. :-)

Just an alternative I like too share.

PANDO SUPPORT  Hello Folks,

The current version (as of 02/12/04) is 1.4.0.3 (build 16070). This build should fix some crash issues you guys have noticed with the previous version. If that does not help, please delete the following file and reboot:

Libray\Preferences\com.pando.pando.plist

If that does not help, try deleting the following folder:

Libray\Application Support\Pando

If problems persist, email us at suppoer@pando.com

PEDROTAQUELIM  What are the advantages of Pando to web (also) free services like:

http://www.mediafire.com/

http://www.yousendit.com/

http://www.dropsend.com/

http://www.dropload.com/

http://www.badongo.com/

I did not try to use it, because half of my friends use linux, and theres is no Pando for linux.

Don't get me wrong, it looks like a great app, judging from all the positive and enthusiastic reviews os Pando users, but those services are also free and can be used by anyone, regardless of their operating system. For me that's the advantage of those services.

HEDEMANN  Pando is great. I've tried a couple of other "token" based apps, but this one finally gets it right with a 1 GB limit, which is fantastic for a free product of this kind. Has been a coporate life-saver for me on a couple of occasions when sending materials to far places of the world. Still has some minor issues, but I can't wait to see the Mac version getting even more integrated. Great product! Use it all the time.

GERBER  This appears to be about the best possible way to share large files with friends and family. You don't need to set up an FTP site, or get a .Mac account with a public folder, or mess around with emailing a giant file (and risk that it won't be received).

Pando works kind of like a Bittorrent client. You add your files, it generates a .pando link file, and emails that off to whomever you want to pick up your file.

That person then opens the link, and via the magic of P2P file sharing, gets the file from you and from anyone else who has already received the file and has Pando running.

But here's where it gets good: It ALSO sends the file to Pando's "super-node" servers, which means that there's always at least one "seeder" online at any given time. So even if you quit Pando and go away, your recipient can still pick up the file. (Within 14 days of its upload, at least.)

Basically, it's like BitTorrent or Gnutella with a super-fast peer in the mix. Or, alternately, it's like Pando sets up an FTP server for you, plus it works even faster if there's more people online (since they'll all feed the file, thus increasing the speed of downloads).

But just because it's P2P, it doesn't mean that this is for illegal files or wahtever. This works just as well (better even) for sharing photos of your kids with Grandma, or swapping a few big Word files with classmates or colleagues.

It's not secure (well, it's a little secure, but don't send your taxes this way), and there's still a few bugs (it's beta), but the app works great already and is only getting better.

BRUCE_Y  Good point -- if Pando file transfer is possible to misuse, that is a design flaw needing correction.

We absolutely do not need more spam vectors.

I encourage you to send your comment & concern directly to the Pando developer folks.

(Besides posting here, I send my comments to vendors directly, and almost always get personal response as well as often seeing program enhanced as a result.)
