TICE  I have problems since 10.6 with the registration. VisualHub accepts the serial number but still stops converting at 2 min. The next start it asks for the serial number again. If anybody has a solution for that it would be great!

JHBRETIN  I'm expecting alot from redux-encoder, but so far it does not convert SWF.

VisualHub no longer works for me on Leopard, it converts my AVI videos twice! (x2 times), which is not really whar I Want.

Well, handbrake is great but does not deal with SWF.

And I don't see why this sort of software is not natively available from Apple.

MAQUERO  Because VisualHub no longer converts youtube (flv) videos to QTP I use Keepvid. It lowers the videos of youtube directly in format mp4 and then with VisualHub it is possible to turn in the format that you prefer.

MTPALMS  VisualHub no longer converts youtube (flv) videos to Quicktime files for me. I get an error that "stops all conversions", although the unconverted file plays in flvThing (a flash video player). Is this the beginning of the end of VH's functionality, and is it time to check out FilmRedux?

MTPALMS  Yes I did read the description, but up until I made my previous post, VH was still working fine.

It's now open source, free, and called FilmRedux, but requires Leopard.

I also found a bookmarklet that coverts flv to mp4 on the fly which will work until I can upgrade to Leopard on both my Macs.

THEROCKSTER26  For what's its worth, I prefer VisualHub for when I'm converting avi files to iPod videos to watch on a TV when I'm away in hotels on business.

Don't get me wrong Handbrake is a great program, however the audio output is far too low for my liking. Watching on the iPod was Ok but on testing a conversion at home, I found myself having to turn up my amp practically to full. This improved the level but not exactly to home cinema standards with the sound not been entirely dynamic.

After trawling through the web and Handbrake's forum for a solution to the low audio output issue(and before you say it- no turning up the DRC doesn't work) I saw saw a couple of mentions for VH and its function that allows you increase the audio.

This function works a treat, allowing you to increase the volume up to three fold with no loss in quality i.e. distortion. The picture quality difference between VH and Handbrake is negligible (Handbrake shades it by a whisker) so until Handbrake rectifies it's audio issue I will be using VH for foreseeable future for all my iPod video needs. For the rest of my encoding needs I'll probably stick with Handbrake because, as I mentioned earlier, it possibly the best video encoder for the Mac (audio issue aside).

CORPSECORPS  Much of the time when i try to convert files and stitch them together, i see all the conversions completed and then they disappear, with the final stitched file never showing up.

I tested to see if the disk was becoming too full or if i had too many other apps running, hogging memory, etc, but nothing helps.

Even converting and stitching the SAME files more than once can be successful one time and not the next.

Anybody seeing this and/or know why it might happen?

POIKKEUS  The big problem with VisualHub is, course, that it's no longer with us. For those who only want to compress files for their iPod/Touch, iSquint (by the same maker, and also pulled from the market) is a strong option. If you want a broad set of tools in an easy-to-use format, VisualHub is a snap to learn. The speed of conversion is mostly dependent on the power of your machine.

This isn't as colorful as some other tools, but for tightness of design and stability, this is a winner.

FRUITTY  i am very sad that Techspansion had to discontinue their product. i really really reaaaaaaaaaally LOVED iSquint and VisualHub. It was a perfect programme for converting files of any kind and for any medium. It was fast and to 95% reliable. I never had any problems with it and i was at elast able to put all my shows onto my ipod without any fuss.

i preciously kept all the dmg of both softwares, cos i really want to keep it.

for those who didn't get the chance to play with this great app., an alternative for quick and reliable conversions is the app. called MPEG Streamclip. It is just as good!

MAC OS X 4EVER  I have been relying on this for a long time to convert all of my content to mp4 for my home media system.

Now that it's gone, is there anything else as good?

And don't say ffmpeg. I know it was a front end for that, but a damn good one.

I need a GUI tool that convert multiple files to my specifications as this one did.

I sure hope he at least releases it to SourceForge.

MAC OS X 4EVER  But it has stopped working. Sure it works as usual, but this means no more bug fixes or updates.

I have had 2 recent AVI's that stopped at ½ way of being converted.

I sure hope that if the author has given up that he releases the code to SourceForge for someone to take over.

Anybody know of a comparable app? I have tried many and have found no good ones.

KAOSAD  I too purchased this just a few weeks ago. It's unbelievable that not only did he quit so suddenly but to pull the downloads? Then he posts on his page "Oh well it was fun while it lasted" is just the attitude I needed to see, I've disputed the charge with my CC company and they removed the charge. I'm fed up with some of the Mac developer attitudes lately, he's not the first to pull a stunt like this.

I suggest anyone purchasing this software in the last few weeks contact your CC company, $25 is $25. If he had handled it any other way or at least left the downloads in place it would be a different story.

KOSOVAR1  This is a crappy program. It only converts about half of the video files I throw at it. I have to ask myself, once again, "Geez, why do I keep wasting my money on programs like this! I'm just sick of these inexplicable error messages, that always blame the problem on the source video file (which works fine before conversion!) instead of on the mediocrity of the creators of programs like VisualHub. These people are patently dishonest when they advertise that VisualHub can convert practically any video file(s) to practically any other format you wish, like some kind of Swiss army knife. I bought this program because I just wanted to convert some standard video format files to MPEG-4/.H264s and then to import them into iTunes and my AppleTV. But this is apparently asking too much. People, save your money and shop for alternatives unless you're only want to, for example very basic, say, to convert an .avi file to an .mp4. This program is just too stupid to do much more than that.

JOSHP  I make a lot of AVI to H.264 MP4 conversions for my AppleTV. The newest version of VisualHub has started to output files that are much shorter than the original file. It just seems to give up and move on to the next queued file. And it never reports an error. Furthermore, ffmpegX, which is based on the same technology, works fine with similar settings.

MACSRUS  I see the many uses for this program...but I personally hate VisualHub.

I have an iMac and am borrowing a Sony handycam DCR-SR42 camera from a friend. Watching the videos on a PC, the quality of the video was great! Watching them in VLC on my iMac, great quality! Obviously it records in MPEG-2 so that won't work on the iMovie though. So I bought Visualhub after hearing all the praise from reviews and friends who use it. Here's what I found.

I put the settings all the way up in visualhub...go nuts, all that fun stuff. I converted one of the MPEG-2 files to one that worked in iMovie, and the quality of the video sucked! It looked like it had been recorded on a cell phone.

If you are converting files of DVD's you've ripped to your computer I could see how the quality would be fine. But if it's everyday camcorder movies, this program is going to ruin your life. The quality of video after conversion is absolutely terrible.

SPRINGHEELMAC  Sorry about that; I figured it out. Visualhub saved the temp file as VISUAL_HUB.ISO in the same location as the original file. My bad. If anyone else had misplaced their Visualhub files, what I did was change the default save location to the desktop, so I always see it and delete it when I'm done burning. Makes it much easier than looking through a packed hard drive.

SPRINGHEELMAC  Ok, its probably something I'm doing, but here it goes...

I select the files to burn to DVD, select "Author as DVD" and "Burn to DVD". Files being worked on are saved at the "same destination as original file." When VisualHub is finished, the DVD works great and the temporary file that was being converted on the hard drive is no longer there. Problem is, the available space on my hard drive is still showing that file as there. I've tried everything to find the temporary file and trash it, to no avail. Every time I use Visualhub my hard drive is getting fuller and fuller, by the exact size of the files I convert. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

Other than that, I love Visualhub. It can't be beat for what it does. I add it to my essential video tools list, right next to "Perian" and "Flip4Mac".

26CAB40  I am a paying user of VisualHub, just so you know where I'm coming from.

Let's try something simple.

Take a typical Divx movie, any one you like.

Load it into a copy of both VSO ConvertXtoDVD (one of your loathsome PC budget apps) and the other into VisualHub.

Using whatever settings you like, convert the movie into a VIDEO_TS set using the VSO software, and the other into DVD compatible MPEG2 using VisualHub.

You can use whatever software you like to assemble the MPEG2 file into a DVD.

Play them side by side and tell us which produces the better output.

Then ask yourself why.

SMTIPS  So then what app does MKV Gary? And what is "proper TS?" I see programs that aren't as intuitive and versatile like Xilosoft's garbage PC-ported-to-Mac-poorly for over twice the cost and they produce poor results.

Back up your claims with more details if you're going to dis such a great program. It does more, faster, with better quality than anything I can think of for the Mac.

If you know of something that does as much as VisualHub as fast that doesn't require the user to make a ton of settings and then HOPE that it comes out right (can you say ffmpegX?) and actually keeps what you set, then by all means make it known to the rest of the Mac people out there.

And considering the cost for such a versatile conversion program this is a GREAT price...or would you prefer $61 for a windows port (Xilosoft?)?

26CAB40  Lets not get all misty eyed.

The user forum has been chock full of people demanding simple updates for about two years now, all ignored completely.

There is no preset on AVI for HD formats, no 720p, 1080p, not even the Divx standards, even the most basic of freeware encoders has this, even the miserable dog that Divx supply themselves.

No MKV, no proper TS, no ability to embed subs, it goes on and on.

It is a good converter, but they are going to have to listen to the people who have paid for it and make the changes.

Until then, its an also-ran.

REEL_MAC  Just Incredible!

I've been a Final Cut Pro user since v.1 (many years ago) and I've never ever come across such a useful, must-have Video app.

I got the bundle with AudialHub and I still can't believe the amazing price.

I've used VH almost everyday since I bought it. Forget Cinematize!

I'm currently using Leopard 10.5.2 and have not had a single stability issue. I've converted DVD's, QuickTime movies, even some VOB someone from Europe stuck on a DVD. VH was the only thing that could deal with it and it converted it from PAL without a hitch.

I wish all software was this awesome.

HARTWELLJ  Awesome program! You won't find another program that will convert to FLV for that price. It's actually built upon the FFMPEGX platform but way bettter. No need to use a ripping software either. Just found out you can drag and drop the DVD into the program and convert it. Handbrake took forever to convert and this thing converts faster than handbrake and even converts faster than QuickTime Pro...Yep it does!

Also, it does batch conversion which is awesome. Converts virtually any video file.

Quality is rediculous...that is good ;). And yes, I can attest to what most users are saying...You can actually have better quality from your original footage. I guess in the smoothing algorithm it actually makes the video better.

The only problem I have with this program is when you use the 2-pass function. It hangs forever and never finishes. Need to get that fixed. Just choose the highest quality and you won't see that much of a difference. I would like for it to work though, so I can have piece of mind that I have the highest quality!!

Love the program!

TOBI 101  > I won't buy it since the german translation...

>>Rather offer help NOT just "because...." and sit on your but(t)!...

>> As for the dumkopf whining about the german translation...

Don't missunderstand me, it's a nice app (...app..., - well, in fact it is a applescript/ib thing on top of the free opensourced ffmepg), all I wanted was to point the developer to the fact that his app is bad translated in the german version.

He makes some fine (and somtimes self-ironic jokes) in his apps that often made me laugh (just look at the help menue in isquint - btw.: his freeware isquint is translated much better than the payware visualhub) but all of that is lost in that stupid (and there is the right place to call someone 'dummkopf', Mr. 'ShotgunWeddings') german translation. the developer can't recognize that if he dosn't have knowledge of the german language, so I told him (...in to harsh words).

As for comments like "make it better or shut up" or "just don't buy it" often used as a reaction on critic here on this software review page:

If you are sitting in a pizza hut or thelike, and the pizza is for some reasons not so good, do you think it would be a normal reaction if the Pizza chief would invite you to "go in the kitchen and make your own pizza" or "otherwise shut up"?

And for the comment "offer your help": I did that many times over the years, I've made many software-translations, localized many apps in the Mac OS 6-9 days, some for big companies like macromedia, etc..

Today that's not my business anymore, but if I offer some help these days than mostly to open source projects (not for money, of course).

And I will never work for the software developers of today that offer you a free license (worth 10 to 60 dollars) for 2-7 days of work.

You know, with a good translation they target a market of 150 mio or more german speaking people in germany, swizzerland, and so on, so they can generate a good extra-income with that, even within the little marketshare the Mac has, but who will work a week for the eqivalent of 20 dollars?

My english is not the best, I can understand nearly everything, but can't write it very well, (my german of course is excellent) but i hope you can understand what I wanted to say here.

As for the audio options: for example mp3 128 cbr would be usefull if you have to target to old plattforms as well, eg. Mac OS 9 (QT-Player 6 can play mp3 cbr divx very well, but with vbr you get quirks and stutters.).

TOBI100  I won't buy it since the german translation is made by an idiot or 13 years old PC-guy.

It is often false or simply stupid or not Mac-like.

"get nuts" is translated to "werd verrückt"?

_That_ is nuts.

Stupid word by word translation.

It must be "irre" or "abgedreht", "überdreht" or something like that. Your humor is completely lost.

You often have to look in the english PDF to know what is ment with the "german" words or descriptions.

Also more options for audio would be great

DOUG S.  AVI is a container, DiVX is a codec. You would need a specific DiVX encoder to export something to play in a DiVX player.

Try FfmpegX, I know it can export specifically to DiVX.

SMTIPS  Select the AVI tab. Click on the Profile button, and select Home Theatre. Set the Quaility slider to whatever you want it at.

I have NEVER had a problem with converting AVI this way. I have two different Divx players, a Philips and a Pioneer, and they both play every avi I have ever converted this way. I have converted AVI's that wouldn't play on them, using VisualHub as above, and then they played just fine.

The ffmpeg libraries should be installed automatically with VisualHub. If it is your first time install or the libraries have been updated, VisualHub will have a window to download and install those libraries when you install it.

SMTIPS  Oh and something else...I have used several of the avi conversion programs extensively and ffmpegx just sucks compared to VisualHub. GUILE  before buying a divx player be sure to check the codec compatibility list, it MUST have support for AVIs using divx3/4/5 and xvid compression. And good players have all these codecs plus some other formats/codecs, mp4, H264, ogm, mkv and so on...

Mine is about 50 bucks and plays everything, even H264+AAC compressed mp4.

DIVX codec is less and less used so your player will actually play only 50% of available AVIs on the internet, trash your reader, it's vintage now (or update it if you can, some divx readers like Kiss readers can easily be updated using USB or Ethernet, the best choose, it prevents you from changing your divx player every year !).

BTW D-Vision (an excellent freeware available on macupdate) allows you to choose between divx3/4, xvid and H264.

Hope you good all your answers.

Good luck ;-)

EASER  I've only had time to play with this a bit, but I plan to buy it. I converted some small movies into DV format, and I swear that this program produced a larger size movie with better quality than the original. I mean, literally, if I were to take the original small movie and simply enlarge its window manually, the quality of that would be less than what this program produced. I do not know how they can do this, but how can one not be impressed?

COOLMEMIN  For what it does, it does its job extremely well. I absolutely love this program for its ease of use. The only thing I wish it had more of is options to convert in batches. The plugin Oimo partly helps but still a wonderful program. Also, in response to the comment below by JoshP. I am using it under Leopard extensively and have had no problems. Have you contacted the developer about it. He is usually very helpful in my experience.

WOBBLER  I have V1.30, and when I start VisualHub it automatically wants to install an update to V1.31a. But, when I click the Install Update-button and the new version is to be extracted, an error message pops up telling me that the extraction of the archive didn't go through.

I have tried to perform this update several times now during a few days, all with the same error message. What to do?

PEN_SQ  Neither VisualHub or Transmission have any business touching the kernel. The only real sense behind that is if the network driver has a bug dealing with high CPU load. Try running Transmission alongside something like CpuTest. Besides an Apple bug, the "network driver" could also be modified by some third app. For example, VMWare and Parallels use their own net driver to talk between the host and guest. Anything "Little Snitch"-like is also a possible suspect (Though it's always been good to me.).

Good luck.

Using two cloned PowerMac G5 Dual 2.0Ghz systems:

VisualHub on Standard took 48 minutes for a 60 minute video.

Flash Media Encoder on Medium is still encoding and it started over 4 hours ago...

The quality of the shorter tests I did were very similar and I am not really sure the little bit of difference justifies that extra wait time.

JOSH LINDQUIST  Anytime you're ripping and converting the video at the same time it's going to crawl and tax your optical hardware pretty bad. I would recommend using MacTheRipper (v3 in the wild is the best for speed and stability) and then using HandBrake or VisualHub on the output that MacTheRipper gives. On my MacBook Pro it takes 10-15 minutes to rip a DVD and then HandBrake or VisualHub can compress much smoother with the files off your drive than off the DVD, not to mention you can load up a que then with a load of DVDs.

SMTIPS  VisualHub is an excellent app. I just have one complaint. You put more than one file into the window, it *doesn't* just do them. Or have I completely missed something? Will that little part of this Automation app be a menu command in the next version? Cuz I sure don't feel like writing applescripts myself no matter how simple they are, and processing a queue of files should be a staple part of this app (batch processing is part of MPEG Streamclip and it's free).

SMTIPS  Thanks for the response, I hadn't got back to look til yesterday. Busy busy busy...

Today before I left I queued up several videos, with the one that was skipped the last time in the first position. It went off without a hitch and did them all as it should. The last time, it was in the second position, and just nothing happened. First one converted, and the second one was as if it wasn't there. This time, I dragged them to the window all in a group. Last time, I put them there one at a time. I have no explanation for it, there was no error and I didn't look at the log last time.

The reason I brought this up was because it wasn't the first time it's happened. It happened 3-4 times before also. Other times, it would do one, and leave the rest, or if only two, do the one and leave the second, without any error message. Perhaps just not recognizing the file, but that wouldn't explain the most recent occurence, and I have had files that wouldn't convert, but they give an error message. The scenario I'm talking about is just ignoring a file without any error message...leave a list and expect them to be done and come back and only one was.

Well it seems to work okay for now. Thanks for a fantastic product! Oh, if it helps, I'm using a PowerPC, Sawtooth G4 upgraded with a 1.2 GHz OWC Extreme chip, plenty of ram and plenty of hard drive space.

I can't comment on some of the other encoding formats, though there are many, but if you want to convert for your iPod, you can't do much better than this.

MEMPHISBIRD  The Techspansions website says this in the menu tabs about VisualHub:

Learn It, See It, Try It, Buy It

Well, I skipped right over Learn It -- that’s how easy this software is. First and foremost, I was looking for something to convert .mov files to .swf. I wanted it to be easy and fast. I don’t want to have to be an expert in this area to try to work with the software. Even with the two minute demo, I knew in about, well, two minutes that I was buying this software. The time it would take me to look for, download, and demo other apps, even if they are free -- and possibly find out they don’t do what I want -- is worth the $23.32 price. VisualHub did exactly what I wanted it to do right out of the box with no brainstrain on my part. I haven’t even used the other features yet, but they are gravy to me.

GRAINBELT  Why are you spending the additional time having VH create a disc image? If you're converting AVI to DVD, all you need is the VIDEO_TS folder, which can be played by DVD Player or VLC, and can be burned directly to DVD in Toast by burning the VIDEO_TS folder in either Data mode or Video mode (select the Video_TS option).

VH is a wicked app... seems like the problem you're having is specific to your Mac, and also unnecessarily encountered anyway.

MATHIAS  In order for VH to create a VIDEO_TS folder it has to create a DVD image so how do you get rid of the frame skipping?

MARIOZ  Fantastic w/h my MacPro. I use to convert Mpeg2 files I get from my Elgato device and I obtain an half RT time encoding. From Mpeg 2 to H264 two passes, high quality.

UNDERTOW  For those of you looking for a easy and fast way to convert a AVI file to a DVD that plays excellent on a home DVD player. This is what you need! I didn't noticed any degrading of quality (unlike Toast). If anything it looked better on my LCD TV than on my computer screen. VisualHub is far and beyond worth the 23 bucks for the AVI to DVD feature alone.

So anything at 23.97fps jerks like hell when converted to NTSC or PAL.

DOM21  Disappointing demo. I wanted to see how it handled two 1-Gig VOB's but it couldn't even begin. Well I'm not purchasing just to find out it can't do this. Really, devs, you oughta allow at least ONE unlimited test drive.

TUXY BOI  Agreed.

I wanting to see if it could repair some .avi files with some random .RIFF chunks (whatever that is) and it would only give a 2 minute conversion, only problem is, the bug is 15 minutes into the movie >.>

ASPARTAMEMSGSUCK  This is a fabulous program...

Just wish it had an option to convert to H264 format WITH a fast start option for the web...

Without fast start the whole file must download before it will play in a browser...

TYLER LOCH  The MP4 tab does just that.

Only the iPod tab creates non-FastStart videos in the interest of fast tagging in iTunes.

PEDRO FARDILHA  Please!

Add subtitle support when importing from a (non protected) DVD.

Handbrake is as good as dead, I have to use ffmpegx just to be able to produce a usable iPod 5.5G video with the proper subtitle... And I don't particularly fancy ffmpegX.

I love "my" VisualHub but I can't really use it on a regular basis if it doesn't allow me to properly convert my DVDs to a iPod format (actually I use it on a mac mini connected thru wireless to my main mac, where the movies are :D )

VERYCARLA  While I agree that subtitle support is essential for Visual Hub, if you're after the higher resolution iPod videos, Handbrake can give you what you need.

In HB, select AV/H.264 Video/AAC Audio in the "destination" section and then under "video" choose x264 (Baseline profile).

Hope that helps!

JOEL MUELLER  I use VisualHub along with Snapz Pro to create video walk-throughs of features on MacUpdate. I record my voice and mouse movement using Snapz Pro, and then I'm able to conver the .mov file into a faster loading, smaller Flash .swf file. VisualHub does the trick just fine.

MARIOZ  Now this program it is really fantastic. It uses all 4 cores of my MacPro to make the compression and it is very very fast. Conversion to iPod in H264 1 pass optimized for the iPod, quality High: 18 min for a 96 min Divx movie.

Now this is my program to convert my movies for the iPod. Super.

BEN WAKEFIELD  I bought this software about 2 weeks ago on the claim of being able to fit up to 18 hours of video onto a dvd. It worked and worked well - I managed to fill a dvd with 12 hours of video and couldn't really notice the compression. It did stutter a little, but I believe this issue has been (or will be) dealt with.

I've had no problems converting avi's to dvd. Quite impressively, if an avi has an odd ratio (such as cinema widescreen), it'll apply the correct size black bars top and bottom to maintain the ratio - all automatically! Until now, I couldn't find software that got it right.

Thanks Tyler, you've hit the nail on the head with this app.

DAN_EX_JAPAN  Works very well for me on a 1.9Ghz iMac G5, 1 gig, OS X 10.4.7

Has done what it tells me it will do - and well - with no problems and no complaints. I paid for it (the price of 4 cups of designer coffee) immediately on finding the demo was a short run. I amortize apps. I've used VisualHub half a dozen times since buying it a week ago. To date each use has cost me about $4.00. By this time next week I'll have cut the cost per use in half and by September I'll be using it for free. Try that logic at the checkout counter anywhere else. Supporting good IDEAS is essential for stimulating better products. If users have problems with this app that I don't, I'll benefit from their input to the developers. Mahalo nui loa and Aloha!

KIDDAILEY  Buggy buggy buggy buggy.

The crippled demo really doesn't reveal the problems with this potentially great software. I bit the bullet and purchased a registration three days ago and have yet to be able to get a burned DVD out of it. The images that creates (while of decent quality) are always too big to fit on a DVD.

The process is easy enough, but without quitting the app between encodings, it also eats up a tremendous amount of temporary disk space and the end result is often a disk image that is double the standard DVD size.

The bummer is that the app is a great idea that I really wanted to work. Hopefully it eventually will.

CHRIS136MSU  This is by far the best program out there. Not only can you create the best looking video for you DVD's, but you can convert your video to almost anything. This converts any TS or M2T file you have. The best value for you money by far.

MACUPDATE.3.JELWELL  The demo is awful. It says it is limited to conversion around 2 minutes but it is still cropping off the last few seconds of files that are less than a minute long.

"You get what you pay for"? Or false advertising? I'd say stay away.

THECAUSE  VisualHub is by far superior to the other DVD Conversion programs - Diva, FFmpegX, HandBrake OpenShiiva, etc. , etc. as it creates what Macintosh users expect from their applications - an easy to use interface.

I hounded, requested, demanded for so long from the other mentioned programs the ability to que multiple files, and even the simple ability to drag and drop files onto the application.

The others have yet to meet all these standards, and really I don't care to wait around for them.

This is what a Macintosh application should look like.

MARSONIST  I've used or attempted to use just about any application you can imagine to try and convert videos and find that VisualHub is the perfect mix of power and usability. I've used FFmpegX, but get bogged down in the option and end up trying 3 or 4 times before finally getting the results I'm looking for. VisualHub seems to take care of of the details for me and has, so far, given me great results every time on the first try.

I was getting some errors while attempting to preview files, but I see that as of today there is a new "dot" release that will hopefully fix that. Even if it doesn't this program is heads and shoulders above everything else I've tried.

SJJ_PUBLIC  So far I'm seeing lots of errors trying to use this tool. Converting to iPod, for example, I added several VOB files from DVD rip to the queue, set it to convert to iPod format, optimized for TV, selected "stich together" option. I selected "2 pass" in the advanced options and clicked Preview and after a while I get an applescript error reporting some problem with ffmpeg about a file being missing. I then tried doing a conversion of the files to DV format, but it also gave an applescript error. There the "2 pass" option is greyed out, so that wouldn't seem to have anything to do with it.

SJJ_PUBLIC  When I get a chance I'll try the conversion again and let you know what the error is, however it will be impossible for me to give you the entire error message because it was so long that it went off the bottom of the screen, with no ability to scroll it. It may actually be a few days before I get to it as I'm pretty swamped at the moment. In the mean time, an additional thing I had meant to mention - when doing the preview, when I had 2-pass unchecked I did *not* get the error. It only happened when 2-pass was checked.
