REXLUTHOR I was looking for a right click "create rar archive" option just like on windows or on the finder for zip archives. I finally found something that does this amazingly on a blog. Check this out: http://stuffforlife.blogspot.com/2009/03/data-compression-in-mac-os-x-how-to.html Hope this is useful. (Version 1.10)

BILLARAW I like it, it is really easy to use and gets the work done. However I couldn't find a way to open password protected rars which was confusing. (Version 1.0.9)

STORMCHILD This is the best RAR utility I've found for OS X so far (other than unRarX, which is great too, but it only extracts archives; it doesn't create them). One small thing that needs to be fixed is that the preset sizes for split archives are not quite correct. For example it lists 100 MB as 102,400,000 bytes, but 100 megabytes is actually 104,857,600 bytes (100 * 1024 * 1024). (Version 1.0.9)

PROMETH Great, app. Basically what I was looking for. My most important request is to add a "Ignore Special Finder Files" option. Next, somehow I feel that the interface needs to be simplified further. Something more like Stuffit 12 and DropStuff. If you'd like, email me and I can come up with a [proffesional] design for you, as that's what I do for a living. Thanks, and keep up the great work. (Version 1.0.9)

ZANGIEF The only major drawback to this is that you must quit and reopen it to remove any files from the list (that is, to make an entirely new archive). Other than that, I love it! (Version 1.0.9)

GENNYBEANS you don't need to restart the program to start a new archive. simply right click on the file you have there, and select "remove selected file". and drag-drop a new file in, and start the process over again. (Version 1.0.9)

ZANGIEF Heh, thanks. I don't know why it never occurred to me to try that

MACKEY007 Excellent program. Finally after months of waiting for something that would not only compress .rar, but the ability to split the archive into smaller segments. This is the first one for the Mac and a long time coming. Thanks goes to the author for filling in a need where no one else has created a rar program to split files for the Mac.

LIFE I love this programme, but I recently tried splitting an archive into 100MB parts. The file I was splitting was about 700MB so I wanted 7 RAR's. But when it finished it had done the whole thing as one big RAR file. It works when I split into 50MB size parts, but then I end up with 14 parts. Any Thoughts? (Version 1.0.8)

LOKHEED Can't wait for PAR2 support. This brings together all the various programs I have on my system to unrar, deal with par2 files, etc. When it supports par2 recovery, I can finally ditch MacPAR. (Version 1.0.8)

It's nice to finally find an easy to use GUI for RAR on Mac which includes most important features. I agree with ST00P!D M0NK3Y's criticisms below, and have an addtional gripe and a wish. -- When i specify password protection on a segmented archive, it can be unRARed without a password. (if this is due to a RAR limitation, the option shouldn't be allowed) -- It would be very helpful to be able to divide an archive into a set number of roughly equal pieces. (Version 1.0.8)

ST00P!D M0NK3Y This is the best RAR application for the Mac, in my opinion. It reminds me so much of WinRAR for Windows XP. Everything is great except for a few issues: 1) It needs to have the ability to cancel out of a RARing process. To stop it from making a RAR archive, I have to force quit the application. 2) You can only delete files off of the list my mouse-clicking and then delete. Neither of the delete buttons work. If you could let those keys delete the files off the list when you select them, it would be so much easier than having to mouse-click every single time. 3) The icon looks great, but it should the white needs to be cleaned up around the edges so it doesn't look like it was cut out of a piece of paper or something. Other than that...awesome job! I use this application frequently now. I don't think there's any other RAR Mac application that comes close. Thanks! (Version 1.0.8)

EGEN Another good idea would be to add an option "Show RAR output" (like in MacPAR Deluxe and par binary). This "log window" would show us what RAR binary is doing: from compressing and repairing to unraring. (Version 1.0.6)

JON MADDOX Huh? Ok, since unrarX still isn't a universal binary, I thought i'd give this a try. It fell flat on its face. If i open a rar file with it, it just opens the app, it doesn't unrar. I have to do it manually. No mac users have been clamoring for an app to rar things with, and thats what this app does first and foremost. We just need to unrar, raring is second base. Why that wasn't the feature done first, i have no clue... oh well. DELETE. (Version 1.0.6)
