KOSOVAR1 It's very simple: THe problem was always that the radio button, "ENABLE CAPS WARN" would always disable itself between restarts. With earlier versions, this happened on two different machines (MAcBook Pro and an iMac) that were running the Tiger and Leopard (OR maybe just the Leopppard OS). Since my first messge a few days Ago, found I could preview CAPS Warn for 30 days so I installed it. On day two--sure enough!--the newest version disabled itself again. My currennt config is early 2009 iMac 27" running Snow Leopard 10.6.2 with all components of the 64-bit OS enabled. Sorry, but I can't keep turning CAPS Warn on every time I restart my computer. PHILMUR Yes! CAPS Warn works perfectly. My $6 is on its way. This is really going to help my wayward touch typing skills. Great piece of software. (Version 4.2)

KOSOVAR1 I type slowly by needing to look at the keys and not the screen because of a handicapped right hands. I waste a lot of time typing in CAPS because I accidentally hit the caps lock key before I notice. NOw that Caps Warn is 64bit, I' considered buying it to use with my Snow Leopard OSrunning in full 64-bit mode. However, during the past two years that I used Caps Warn with Leopard (and maybe Tiger before that?), the audio warning component worked only sporadically for me. I was constantly adjusting and tinkering with the preference pane to make the audio warning component work again and then sometimes it still woudn't work, no matter what I did. For this reason, I won't risk wasting $6 if the audio part hasn't been fixed in the new version. (Version 4.1)

JPLW Please email me and give more details about the audio problem. I have gotten no other complaints like this, and it works perfectly for me, so maybe it is something specific about your system. (Version 4.2)

PHILMUR CAPS Warn V.4.1 won't work. I put it on my MacBook Pro, OSX 10.5.8, 2.66GHz. When I click on the checkbox Enable CAPS Warn... the configuration window disappears then re-appears with the box unchecked. I check the box again, window disappears, re-appears with the box unchecked. Etc, etc. I sure would like to see this software work! (Version 4.1)

PEACECORPSMERI Upgrading to 4.1 on Mac OS 10.6.2 completely disabled this utility for me! I have the same problem as described here. The checkmark won't stay. Hope this is fixed soon! (Version 4.1)

NICK COLLINGRIDGE Great, and very handy, but a couple of points: 1. I assume that it still isn't complied as a 64-bit pref pane because if it was this would have been mentioned as a feature for 4.0. It would be good if this could be done so that it were not necessary to re-open preferences every time you go to the settings. I would happily pay for the new version if this were the case! 2. Would it be great to have an option to disable the caps lock altogether, which could maybe be implemented by immediately switching off the caps lock if it is activated, depending on what hooks there are available. NICK COLLINGRIDGE Thanks for clarifying the fact that it is now 64-bit. I will be buying a copy of the new version as a result. Any chance of the option to disable the caps lock key? (Version 4.1)

THUS.SPAKE.Z Unfortunately, 'CAPS warn' works only very sporadically for me on my MacBook Pro w/OS 10.5.8. I've got it configured to warn me via sound and flashing screen if caps lock is enabled but it alerts me only sometimes. Also, the visual red 'CAPS warn' icons in the menu bar show only occasionally. Too bad, 'cause this would be a very handy little app if it worked reliably. I recall trying' CAPS warn' several years ago when it was free and experienced the same problems with it. I had it installed on a Powerbook then. I've got no problem paying $6 for it if it did work reliably. (Version 4.0)

JIMW I have one use for this product - make a sound if I accidentally push the Caps-Lock Key. As a free product it was an ideal solution for this. I also have a philosophy. I feel if a product cost less then $10 then it is not worth charging for at all. Less then $10 makes the cost a nuisance fee. I suspect that the developer did not charge $10 is because the developer either felt it was not worth $10 or that no one would buy it at $10. If this was the developers reasoning I totally agree with it. That gets back to my first premise. If it is under $10 it should not be charged for at all, especially since it has been free for quite a long time and historically there was never any indication that it would metamorphose itself into shareware. This tactic strikes me as "bait and switch." I feel that if the developer wanted to start making money off these types of programs, it should of changed over to donation-ware or the developer should have left it free and came out with another product entirely that was fee based. As such, while I like the product, I don't feel it is a good value at $6. So I will continue to use the old version till it stops working or creates issues with my machine, and then learn to live without it - which really won't be that difficult. (Version 4.0)

TEKNOWLEDGIST CAPS Warn was a nice little tool in 10.4/Tiger. Unfortunately, it doesn't work in 10.5/Leopard. The message: You can't open CAPS Warn preferences because it doesn't work on an Intel-based Mac. appears whenever you want try to access the preference pane. This is the same machine that it worked fine on with Tiger. Please update! (Version 3.1)

8OO8 This version is pretty buggy. With screen flashing notification and caps lock enabled, screen flashes with every or every other keystroke even though I've set the flash warning to go off after every 3d, 4th, 5th, etc. keystroke. Sound warning also exhibits same behavior as above. With Growl warning enabled, keystroke warning works very unreliably and intermittently. Changing warning modes doesn't take effect unless I uncheck "Enable CAPS Warn" and recheck again. After I posted my previous review, I did find some bugs in that version, but, of course, that's water under the bridge now. (I did, in fact, delete all files of the previous CAPS Warn version before installing v 3.0) Would be nice if CAPS Warn worked smoothly; it IS pretty useful.

8OO8 VERY handy and VERY useful. A really ingenius little creation. Works perfectly. As one who writes a lot using my Powerbook and who often inadvertently presses the caps lock key or holds the shift key down a bit longer than I want, CAPS Warn really makes my writing work flow a bit easier. A big thanks to the developer....and for offering it for free, too! (Version 2.2)

JT42B Nothing against CAPS Warn, it sounds like a good idea, but 675K just for that? Does anybody remember when the entire system and apps ran in 512K? (and we liked it!). Ah well, no use living in the past. (Version 2.1)

MARK DEGG Does what it says on the tin. Would like an option to select a custom alert tone and to have the app dockless, maybe set it up as a pref pane. I like this as I am forever typing too fast and hitting the caps lock instead of a Oh and a better icon may be :) (Version 1.0)
