DRUMROBOT  Great idea.

The one problem is that the alarm shuts down seconds after starting...

ECLECTICSHADOW  I'm glad to say that iAlertU works perfectly on my Imac. Even though I'd love to see that maybe in this case the alarm would be activated if someone touches the screen not only the keyboard or the mouse. But other than it's perfect.

ARVIDTP  Cool! Just one thing that is a annoying for me - usually when I leave my macbook pro somewhere it is with an external audio interface connected, and often whatever speakers the interface goes to will not be turned on. So this app need a preference to for which audio device to use, it should not just use the default device, which is what it does now.

I guess if someone stole it then, they would have ot unplug the external audio device, but the audio might not re-engage in time to be useful...

THE_JUDGE_G4  From the Dev's site:

System requirements

Apple MacBook or MacBook Pro

OS X 10.4 or higher

Quicktime 7.1.3 or higher

Note iAlertU may work on other Apple Macs but this has not been tested.

Basically this works with any Mac with a motion sensor (portables). I've also installed this on an iMac CD and enabled iAlertU with the remote.

ALAN  the best alarm system ever.

suggestion: why not add ability to send sms/mms to owner's mobile besides e-mail?

SEMAJA2.NET  There is a extremely very very very simple reason for this, as the developer of MultiAlarm is was seen that there is no way to develop a system that allows for international systems and even just one carrier, and most carriers now offer emails which can be sent to sms anyway

BEATDIGGER  Awesome program!!

A few strange things I've noticed on my Macbook pro using 0.24b.....

1. The alarm activates the first time I set it almost every time. After turning it off and resetting it, everything is fine. That is until later of course when the whole problem repeats. I am not sure how much time needs to pass before the problem can be duplicated. I have many pictures of myself in my email because of this problem.

2. ialertu does not show up in my "recent items" pulldown so after I quit and later want to re-launch I am forced to go into the applications folder. I eventually put the icon in my dock but I'm saying...what if I don't want any more items in my dock?

Other than that it's great!!

Thank you.

SILICONADDICT  While the app is good its still a toy unless there is a way to bypass holding down the power button until the system turns off. Basically you can force shutdown the system in less then 5 second. While that 5 seconds has the opportunity to take a picture it doesn't have the chance to send it.

MACMANIA  I think this is a great idea and a terrific unintended use of the SMS.

However, be aware that simply pressing and holding the POWER button disables iAlert!

Cheers!

TRIPP  I agree what happened to a good icon, like the remote control, now I see a circle, at least make it an eye or something cool......, but good job! Set it today, and left had to come back to my computer "area" quick, bumped the mouse, and scared the s**t out of me!, but no camera picture, sometimes yes, sometimes no! "confused"

VIRTUALBALL  Hey, this is a very useful application, and fun as well. I was at COMP-USA this weekend and my friend and I installed it on the computers and when the compusa guy came over and clicked a button, it beeped and they had to get the manager to help, eventually they resarted it :-P

Also, when i get a MacBook i would really hope to see this software on it, even if apple doesnt implement the location thing, can it still have the button press?

CANADIAN_GUILO  The nerd factor of this piece of software is huge. I can't wait to use this in a crowded coffee house and come running out of the toilet the moment someone bumps my table. I'm sure this would get you points with the ladies too. Thumbs up here.

iLoaf, you're toast.

Beware all ye software shortstuff.

There's a new app in town.

I agree with ADS2006 and JETSGO .

Implement those suggestions and you'll have a hit on our hands!

And maybe a better promotion video?

ADS2006  Great idea - Would download if I had the new powerbook. :(

Suggestion : Next version to flash up a full-frame photo on screen taken through the built-in camera of the thief in action and bold text saying "Your picture has been captured and is being stored on a remote server for identification by the police."

In the background the laptop can also email the photo to a specifiied email address.

Perhaps the ability to send an SMS (of the message type) to a users cell phone, to notify them that the alarm has been triggered?
