MACUPDATE ADMIN  From the developer's site today:

"Due to circumstances beyond our control, Whimsicaly Plucky Software has to close it’s doors. I’d ike to take this opportunity to thank al of the users of BackityMac, RadiioRocker, DochChanger and VideoVangeist for their patronage. There is a possibility we may open the doors again one day. Until then I’ve updated all the products to remove all registration requirements and they are all now FREE. Any versions previous to these listed will no longer activate. You may stil email me if you wish, however, no further support for the products will be offered.

Sincerely,

DJ MacIntosh

ROBERTCOOGAN  Super Duper does a much better job - for me (on a MBP & iMac) it keeps freezing up and crashing after two installs.

TOM ALLEN  I have a Mac Mini Intel and a MacBook. I downloaded and paid for the software. Originall it would not restore a previous backup. I reported it to the author and at first he was helpful. However when it did not get fixed, he quit responding to my emails. I downloaded the new version and it gets the applescript 1708 error.

SCOTT MCCOLLOM  I am running a new 24" iMac with Leopard installed.

I just downloaded the new release, but I am still getting the 1708 AppleScript error upon launching the program. I was reading that this release addressed that, but I guess it did not fix the problem.

Thanks.

JEFF H.  The developer seems to have worked everything out, and has a winner!

I wanted this app to work in these most recent versions because of the ease and efficiency of earlier versions. But it wasn't, at least not until this version!

Great job! Does what it says it'll do!

ME2  This software worked fine during the first few versions but now I can't get it to make a disk image.

I know we can't place a suffix of the version number on the end of the title and I don't, but, why is this continuing to 'not work.' The website shows no support folder. Any advice is appreciated.

IVANOVITCH  It stalls at backing up an image at 15.99GB... (and indicates 1% complete, on a 'second pass' of the update progress bar). Makes it useless for home directory backup to iPod disk ,for example (what I am trying to do - back to manual directory copy)

**...

IVANOVITCH  Works for minor backups of individual files, but chokes on home folder backup (20GB or more), and required force-quit after command+period failed to cancel stalled process of a backup to an iPod disk. A number of applescript errors appear from time to time, not making me confident that a backup imagefile can be created. Yet to try restore function.

PHINDOG  I use BackityMac on a daily basis. Unfortunately, after version 1.3.7, the application fails with an Applescript error "NSReceiverEvaluationScriptError: 4 (1)".

HEINZROHDE  Hello,

this software exits with Apple Script Error during restore.

:-(

Backup without restore is useless... Can somebody fix this problem, please?

FRACER  Sorry, since version 1.2.3 BackityMac isn't working. The App hangs after this Error message: "The variable result is not defined. (-2753)"

LITTLEJOE  This is by far the best "simple" mac backup application out there.

If you have a family member who thinks backing up data on their mac regularly is too complicated or a hassle this will bring them into the light!

My girlfriend is now regularly backing up her Macbook on her own!

And best of all... it's free!

JEFF H.  I went to restore prefs that I had backed up, and I keep getting an Applescript error that says, "The variable statwin is not defined. (-2753)".

So actually, this thing is just taking up space on my HD if it doesn't do what it's supposed to do?

MACSWITCHER  This program is great. I've been looking for a way to backup my iphoto library, iweb library, documents and everything. Up til now, I was running automator for these tasks but it kept timing out on large folders. This program makes at work so much better, and I can restore all or part of lost information with no problems.

I have but one suggestion for the author, it would be nice to have it work in automator as well and remember the checked options. I'd love to be able to run the backup once a week automatically. Other than that, the program is awesome, no more searching for individual files and folders. Love it!

CLEVERSIMON  I'm a huge fan of this program. The only missing feature is the ability to save backup configurations, so I don't have to tick the same checkboxes every weekend and potentially forget one.

NADOKY  A progress bar would be so helpful. Once you implement the ability to burn to CD/DVD or an external drive, this app will be the bomb! Thanks.
