FRANKVH  Although I used to like this little app a lot, i have isolated this app as being the very likely culprit of a -10810 error.

On an almost clean install with 10.5 follwed by an update to 10.5.3, I got one error after the other. Reviewing all the apps and utilities I had installed (just a handful), I decided to do away with Coconut Wifi. End of errors! I hope to see this diamond back again though!

MACEDWARD  I got the same error code even with the new beta (version 3). I had to delete the application after I managed to make a force restart of my MBP.

ItÂ’s a pity that this application has had the same effect on my computers both times I have tried it. The first time was some years ago and even then it was a disaster on my computer.

I had hoped that all this was solved by now, but apparently not.

MARTIM WEINSTEIN  I spent all weekend wondering why the hell my internet connection had become so slow... ended up finding that cocunut wifi was the culprit! As soon as I quit it I'm up to speed again!

DWT  With 10.4.8 this nice little app causes my airport connection to go down to a screeching halt. Instead of 100 k/s (which is what my dsl connection gives me) I will only get between 5 to 15 k/s.

SIMICHAVEL  Further comments (sorry for the string): Maybe I am overlooking something, but I miss some of the Aple features, which give you more data and control. (1) The CoconutWiFi menu does not indicate signal strength, (2) it seems to mark some (but not all) protected networks as open if you have a username and password allowing you to join, (3) when you encounter a a protected network it does not offer you the option to join, (4) when you encounter an open network it automatically connects you whereas, for instance, Apple asks first whether you want to join an unknown network. Personally I like the control.

SIMICHAVEL  Macintouch reports echo each other that with the 10.4.8 update coconutWiFi causes connectivity problems.

SIMICHAVEL  Nice little app. A few recommendations: (1) On the drop list, add a check or some other indication as to the network the user is actually connected to. (2) The red-yellow-green scheme is nice, but yellow can be misleading since it suggests the user is not quite connected, even though s/he may be. This is conditioned in particular by Apple's use of the yellow for "joining/logging on." The alternate menu icon series currently availble is not as aesthetic as the traffic light buttons. (3) Add a customizable series of links to some of the relevant apps and whatnots in the system, e.g., System Preferences > Network; Safari & Mail; and any other internet related apps.

FRANSIK  Essential, works perfectly well, exactly as the previous version, but with a lovely addition, these new icons & the sound option (Growl support would be awesome too, whether as an add-on or as a replacement for those with quite little menu-bar space...) Running very happily on my 12" iBook G3 (10.4.7)

BURRO  I ***LOVE*** THIS!

A simple little tool that rocks.

As someone who commuted through SF by bus, repeatedly clicking the Airport menu icon, to quickly up-or-down load e-mail or a web-page, this is a real relief! I ended up memorizing most of the good spots, but what a pain!

Now that I am not commuting through WiFi land, I know I'll still use this. Heck, it's fun just to watch! So far, it works great!!! (iBook G4 1.33MHz OS10.4.4)

Thanks, developer(s)!!

MADNIL  This might come handy on my next trip. Works like expected. One more remark: Is it possible to run it without an icon in the dock as a pure menu application?
