THUS.SPAKE.Z  When using Minuteur, I frequently get this error message: "An exception of class OutOf Bounds Exception was not handled. The application must shut down."

Can't find developer's contact info . His website is in French and I don't parlez vous.

UEILA  It would be nice if the developer would email registration codes promptly. The software is great but in my case waiting 9 days to receive the registration code is irritating and when I emailed the reply was "I am only a small developer". That may be the case but it only takes minutes to check the PayPay account and respond to customers.

Not impressed with the service but the software does it's job well!

ROY VAN DER WONING  Spamfilters either block mail or they let it pass through. Spamfilters do put mail on hold for 9 days, nor do they add "I'm only a small developer" to incoming mail.

ROY VAN DER WONING  No sure why you felt the need to point that out, but I'm still interested to learn what makes your two alternatives "the best".

JGJONES28  This program is great, with many features and options to configure for use as a timer and a stopwatch. The support from the developer is outstanding. I encountered a memory error with the PPC version and the developer worked closely with me to quickly find a solution-most impressive! While Minuteur is not free like some timers, it does so much more and is well worth the price.

RORO01  Alternatively, download the freeware 3-2-1 widget, which is the best timer, or the freeware menu bar Alarm Clock application which contain a timer as well as the best alarm clock.

ROY VAN DER WONING  Since you are posting this as a blanket statement, I'd be interested to know what it is that makes these two applications "the best" for every individual purpose.

For example, how would 3-2-1 be "the best" for someone who needs a stopwatch? And how is Alarm Clock "the best" for anyone who would be interested in some of the features included with Alarm Clock Pro for example?

LAWDOG  4.7.2 does not work on my MacBook Pro running 10.4.8. It starts up and quits immediately. It's a shame too. I enjoyed using the program and then I updated to the newest version and now nothing.

DJORK  I like the functionality of the application. It works great... but as a programmer myself I have to ask: why in the world is this a 21 MB download? The executable is 10 MB, and the REALBasic runtime libraries make up the rest. Maybe it's time to switch development over to Cocoa?

N. SILVA  This is the nicest timer application I have found. It's easy to use and has a very polished interface, yet there's room for improvement.

Recent versions seem to be getting bloated. The application is 21.1 MB -- seems like a lot for a timer.

A more serious complaint is that sometimes instead of playing the alarm sound it puts up a dialog box asking me to locate GrowlHelperApp. I've missed several alarms because of this! (I don't have Growl installed nor is it enabled in Minuteur's prefs.) This wasn't a problem in earlier versions.

For now, I'm sticking with Minuteur, but if something better comes along I'd consider switching.

ALANR  There's a small problem with the 4.7 Version.

After finishing a countdown the units display (lower left digits) switches to an incomprehensible number. If another countdown is started without quitting and allowed to finish then the display will be correct. It will correctly show the time elapsed since the countdown reached zero.

ALANR  err...

After posting my previous comment it occurred to me to reset the prefs for the action to take after the countdown reaches zero.

That seems to have cured the problem.

ANDREWA121  I just wanted everyone to know that I solved the problem. There appears to be some sort of incompatibility between SurfRabbit and Minuteur. Uninstalling SurfRabbit solved the problem.

ANDREWA121  I love Minuteur. It's the best egg timer out there. But this last version seems to come with incomplete documentation (just a 1-question FAQ) and crashes on launch, whereas all the other versions have worked swimmingly.

SCHMELDING  I was having the same problem. You might want to check if you've installed "megazoomer." It interfered with Minuteur (and other apps like Skype) and causing exactly what you described. Remove megazoomer and you shouldn't have any trouble.

If you haven't installed megazoomer, try clearing your font cache or think about other apps you may have installed that are interrupting the normal operation of your otherwise happy Mac.

DAYCARE  was looking very well while checking it out - but after the first 'real' use, I found myself with a resetted timer after clicking on the stop button (clicked because the job was done)...

further on, the buttons MUST be labeled - I'm concentrating on my work and not on the candies

therefore, I'm looking for another timer-app'

Features are exactly what I want, didn't have stability issues - but the 'reset' when clicking on the non-labeled stop-button makes the whole thing useless for me

SEAMUS  Very nice app. Widget: yes. But what I'd like to see is the ability to add multiple timers with a label for each so I can time multiple jobs that I've worked on throughout the day.

THE VALRUS  Minuteur is a fantastic app. Those looking for a widget version might like 3-2-1::

Not quite as good as Minuteur, but it might suffice to scratch the itch.

ANONYMOUS  I love this little thing. I use it every day, 2 or 3 times.

There's no snooze, but it's easy enough to drag it 10 minutes out & lie back down.

IZOE  Just spent the last 10 minutes playing arround with this program and it is now one of my "Must Have For My Mac" programs! I will actually replace my Teatimer Dockling with this sleek little timer (all others I've dumped in favor of Teatimer).... Tremendous Work!!

ANONYMOUS  We use Minuteur a lot for things like timing the cooking of eggs and vegetables, since there is a computer in the room next to the kitchen.

Even my wife has learnt how to use it.

Thanks for a great wee app.

ANONYMOUS  Very nice. The only suggestions I can make are: 1) Allow the window to be resized (it's a little small), 2) change the mouse cursor to a hand when over the time scale to indicate that it can be dragged, and 3) set the countdown beeps as an option... Otherwise, merci beaucoup!
