JOBBY  Earlier versions used to work on my old G4, but installing this latest version on my Intel iMac produced a window that just says "can't fork: No such file or directory" when I click Refresh.

Unfortunately all the help links point to web pages that no longer exist - which shows the value of including the help files with the program!

After some fiddling, I found you needed to copy vstream-client from /Library/Application Support/TivoTool to /usr/local/bin - everything started working then.

Intel users - it's also worth downloading ffmpegX and copying the ffmpeg file from inside that app's package to /Library/Application Support/TivoTool - it'll convert a *lot* faster without Rosetta in the way :)

C  Great app! I have been having problems with the MPEG4 encoder crashing the app. Also, when I create VOB files using TivoTool the files are unreadable using the Mac DVD player. (10.4.2)

BIMMERDOB  The perl script (version 0.2.0) works great in 10.3.9 for pulling .ty files off the Tivo for viewing in QT w/ MPEG2 plug-in. GUI requires 10.4.x, but with a terminal window and config file edit, the perl script does just fine in 10.3.9.

You still need to hack the Tivo to get access to unscrambled .ty files, but once all that Tivo centric stuff is in place (vserver, Ethernet, xPlusz, unscramble, tivoweb, mfs_ftp, etc.), this is a great utility for getting access to .ty files (via MPEG2) on your Mac.

If more file calisthenics are needed, once on the Mac, take a look at ffmpegX for many other ways to convert the ty files in to other formats and resolutions.
