MUSICLC  Definetely not worth $25. Unstable. Has promise (especially with function help) but it looks like it's not being actively developed or maybe just part time. Developer never responded to any email after I purchased it. Too bad, because I would love a good php editor. For now sticking with Dreamweaver/Textwrangler.

DEKER  Attractive design, nice icons, quick to learn.

But it lacks in features pretty severely. The function/variable listing doesn't allow you to click them to add them into the code, making them kind of pointless in my opinion. The syntax coloring seems buggy and incomplete. Export of HTML color syntax is handy, but can be accomplished in a lot of other ways other than a dedicated text editor. No site management, no support for Includes or anything like that.

I'll probably stick with TextMate for now, but picked up a license on MacZot.com for $5, so maybe a future version will be worth it once they add a few more features.

MRANDRE  Is it really so hard to let a server run your code? I'd stick with TextMate.

ANONYMOUS  I guess that depends on your development cycle style. I usually have no problems in the majority of a script, but nearing the end I have many little, minor changes that require an upload to the server as much as every 15 - 20 seconds. If I can skip waiting for file transfer times I can be more productive.

Besides, TextMate costs twice as much.

JON  well, it seems nice-- though i am not sure how much better it is than a normal text editor.

the "clean code" function makes the files unreadable (not literally, but it would be tough on the eyes/brain) which isn't so bad.

the real problem for me is that when i try to execute my code it errors out right away because i have required files. for example a line like this:

  require('this_file');

will error out. based on that i have my doubts that included files will fair any better and so for larger projects this function becomes useless. as is text-wrangler is free and colors my code nicely-- which is all i can do with this at present.
