SANS DIEU RIEN  I am a bit reluctant to purchase MacKakuro as the publisher offers a $7 upgrade for each whole version (e.g. if you purchase 2.x it will be an extra $7 for 3.x).

I guess independent game companies need more money. If you really believe in this product then it won't be an issue.

MARSHAPW  Just when I thought Sudoku couldn't make me any crazier, along comes the 16 square, numbers AND letters!! I love it! And now I just have to find a way to accomplish my other work while trying to accomplish this more intense Sudoku puzzle!!!

Thanks!!!

I needed that!

ANONYMOUS  drosboro (Rosborough Technology Co.): The original build of version 2.2 contained code that logged thousands of lines to the console.log. I have replaced the files with a new build that doesn't do this. If you'd like to keep your console logs uncluttered, you can re-download the new build (still called version 2.2).

I apologize for the inconvenience!

Happy solving,

Dave Rosborough

BEATRICE WARD  This is for all users who read my comments re entering my own puzzles into MacSudoku 2.

I was the problem, not the program.

Because hitting the done button in MacSudoku 1.3 assumed you were completely finished, I was saving the file in which I had entered the numbers rather than clicking the "done" button to indicate I had entered the original numbers.

Turns out you have to click the "done" button once the original numbers are entered in order to move to a working file In Mac Sudoku 2.

When you do this, everything works great.

Many thanks to Dave for being a very responsive and nonjudgmental developer. He has created a great program for people who are Sudoku fans and Mac users. And also wants you to be able to use it.

BEATRICE WARD  I downloaded and registered 2.0 this morning. It works fine when I am doing one of the puzzles the program provides.

BUT, when I try to enter a puzzle myself (e.g. the one in the Los Angeles Times this morning), the only page that will come up is the one with DONE in the lower right hand corner.

This page will not save any numbers that I enter, it will not show errors or soltions.

In other words, I cannot use version 2.0 for puzzles I enter. What am I doing wrong?

EGGMAN  This app is alright. It generates random puzzles and offers square border pencil-marking, which makes it as close to a PnP Sudoku game as any other app on the market. My biggest beef with this program, however, is the fact that the space between the numbers in the grid is such that when I finish using this program and go back to normal work, all the text in my other programs looks scrunched together by comparison. This was enough of an annoyance for me to switch to Sudoku Susser.

DAVE ROSBOROUGH  I should point out (re the last post) that Sudoku Susser, while it IS a great program, doesn't generate it's own puzzles. That's the point of MacSudoku: it makes it's own puzzles, and it's got a simple, clean interface that's easy to use.

ANONYMOUS  To be fair, the in-program, auto-downloading access to the literally millions of pre-generated Sudoku puzzles from the menneske.no website at 8 differently difficulty levels and 3 other misc. levels makes it nearly as versatile.

ANONYMOUS  The application states that the trial period ended after the second start, one day after the first start. Also, the generated puzzles are too easy—there should be a setting for generating puzzles of different difficulty. Otherwise, quite nice.

DAVE ROSBOROUGH  It would appear the reviewer was using an older version. Version 1.2 includes a harder difficulty level. The free trial, however, is only for 14 days whether you upgrade to a later version or not. If the user tried version 1.0 two weeks ago, and then tried version 1.1.2 yesterday, their trial will have expired.

ANONYMOUS  I didn't use the software before. I installed version 1.1.2 and one day later, the trial period had expired.

CHARLES  Double clicking a saved game file will open MacSudoku, but not load the file. Loading the file through the file mennu works.

Running Mac 10.3.9

Would be great to have a hint show up for a given cell (all of the numbers not forbidden by what is already in that 9x9 grid and intersection of column/row).

To echo others, it would be great to pick a difficulty level.

Otherwise, super implementation.

ANONYMOUS  Love it! Very stable, no apparent bugs on my system. Smooth interface. The puzzles are a bit easy but I expect they'll increase in difficulty in the next version. Overall, solid piece of software. Well done.

DAVID WILSON  Love it. Well implemented.

I particularly love the way that potential numbers can be placed in the squares as "smaller" numbers.

GUILLAUME RISCHARD  Entire window turns to grey square after I click anywhere inside it. Tried deleting preferences file, but couldn't find it because it is not in /Library/Preferences. Dodgy piece of software - avoid.

DAVE ROSBOROUGH  Actually, the preferences file IS found at ~/Library/Preferences/com.rosboroughtech.MacSudoku.plist.

As for the window turning gray, please contact me directly (email address is in the Readme file) with a description of the system you are using so that I can find the source of this bug.

DALE MOX  Buggy, but not surprising for a first release.

It's a shame that's it's shareware, because I'm just about to study c/c++ and I could have learnt a lot from reading the source ( a practice I find most educational ).

Keep up the good work, and my addiction to this game might just cause me to buy shareware for the first time ever.

DAVE ROSBOROUGH  Although it's hard to tell what the "bugs" are from the post, version 1.0.2 fixes the only bugs and crashes I've been informed of - so it should be pretty stable now!
