ZANGIEF  Does anyone still have the old free version? I don't have $15 for this, and I don't care if it's out of date, either.

GHHCYBERUS  I just downloaded this application. I get a message that tells me my 30 day demo is over, and I need to make a purchase. What is this?

CORTLAND  I still have the freeware version on my computer. It's not a bad app, though now that I have a faster G5, I don't use it.

ZANGIEF  Not to be a bother, but mind sending it to me? I can't find it anywhere after FWM pulled it.

ST00P!D M0NK3Y  Yes. I pretty much removed it off my computer because of the incessant nagging asking me to pay during the entire 30 day trial period (EVERY TIME I TURNED ON THE COMPUTER!). It only took a few days of that nonsense to give up on this app. The annoying nagging of the trial period is really unnecessary.

AQTINC  This app is a great idea. As someone that runs Virtual PC and Parallels, there are times when it would be nice to suspend a CPU-hungry Windows job running in the background.

Yeah, I know that you can set that preference in both VPC and Parallels, but this app is for those times when you didn't know what you were getting into and then want to override your preferences.

I hope the UB issues can get resolved soon.

LUHMANN  Web site says it has Universal Binary support but is untested. I don't know if this is an intel issue or not, but it quits on launch on my intel MacBook...

I love the app on my G5! I hope it can be fixed.

ARVID  um... simply beachballs and hog CPU after i authenticate using my password in 10.3.9... When i hover over the app stop icon in the menu bar, all i get is a beachball. Have to force quit it from Activity Monitor.

I like the idea of this, and have used earlier versions, but i think there is a significant issue with this version. Thanks.

RED??  The BEST of it's kind!! ROCKS!!

Just a little request: a simple black icon matching the rest of the toolbar residents. The RED hurts in the eyes!

Thank you for the amazing work done so far!

ANDREE  If you don't like the red color of the menu icons, just edit the two files menuIcon.tiff and menuIconPaused.tiff in the App Stop/Contents/Resources folder.

I have used GraphicConverter to convert them to greyscale.

SIMI CHAVEL  Did I say doublegangers instead of doppelgangers? Heh heh.

In any case, 0.8 works well, but the menubar App Stop icon is really small and I can't find a way to get it to normal size. Bug? Problem with my system?

SIMI CHAVEL  In 0.7, the doubleganagers have disappeared. Nice going. Other problems now: Stopping a Classic App seems to freeze the entire computer including the keyboard. Nothing but power-button reboot will restart the computer. App Stop also seems to quit by itself from time to time.

Still love the app.

ARVID  The stopping/starting part is dope. really like it. Good for live audio performances when you only want one or two apps to get the whole processor.

But - I think you got the nice values backwards on the priority sliders - oops! I wondered why MaxMSP performed better when i 'reduced' its priority :) - but for a second I actually thought it was something counter-intuitive, like it left more resources for the audio subsystem... until i fired up Process Wizard and saw that everything was the opposite!

ANONYMOUS  That's because this program uses the renice command.

When using renice -20 tends to be the highest priority. While +20 tends to be the lowest which is why I think he put it in reverse.

ANONYMOUS  It's easiest if you think of "priority 1" as being the most important thing to do, and "priority 20" as the least - then just extend that concept to negative numbers ;)

ANONYMOUS  Oh, YES! I've been waiting forever for a program like this. I use a Sawtooth G4 and I can finally play games at decent speeds without manually quitting every program first! Table view is beautiful: I just select all, deselect my game program, and tell the other apps to KEEP IT DOWN!

Love it love it love it!

SIMI CHAVEL  In addition to the value of the utility itself, it is very nice once again to have a menubar item for running applications that does not take forever (several seconds) to load.

Developer, what about making it possible to grab the item (with command key) and move along the menubar, as you can the Apple items?

MARKFLO  Most "good" apps won't need this, but for those "bad" ones that start sucking the life out of your CPU for no apparent reason this could be really useful.

SZABESZ  Seems to be working fine. Flash and the Flash player eats the CPU for lunch, so it is good to temporarily stop them!

A feature request: next to the app's name should be the percentage it is consuming, so I do not have to use top to determine what app I should stop. (I have e-mailed this to the author as well.)
