J-A-X  The only way I could see that happening would be if the image file is large enough to take up that kind of bandwidth even though Slothcam is only requesting the image once per minute.

J-A-X  I don't maintain any of the webcams, I just chose some default cams as examples of what you can do with SlothCam. I have replaced the Paris camera in the latest version with a new (different) webcam.

I live in Texas, and unfortunately I can't fly all the way to Paris to fix the Paris webcam. :)

NERFGUN  SlothCam is great, although it is not really true that it is the only customizable webcam widget; the 4webcams/9webcams/16webcams widgets are user-defined as well. But SlothCam works great for a single cam.

J-A-X  Well it used to be and I didn't change the description.

Slothcam is more customizable though because you can add any number of webcams each with its own refresh rate, and also resize it etc.

JACKSON  There should be no problem viewing gifs, but for some reason,

http://sirocco.accuweather.com/nx_mosaic_640x480c/SIR/inmaSIRIL_.gif?1 does not work (the URL with a question mark at the end). THe question mark is the way slothcam distinguishes between different webcam images, and it hasn't been a problem with any webserver I've ever encountered.

This means it is an issue with the webserver at accuweather. I could try to make a way to force slothcam to not add the ? at the end but I'm not sure right now if I want to do that. Email me if you want to discuss this...

ANONYMOUS  This is great. A widget that's actually useful since my friends use it to monitor their kids at various day care centers with the tap of a button.

I'd like to see one tiny feature added though, when you mouse over the image a small left pointing arrow would appear letting you flip back 10 or so images to see what's happened that you've missed. Maybe have this number user definable.

BILL BUG  I love my SlothCam!!!

My 9 year old & I spend 10 minutes every day or so just sitting watching it go through all the cams we've loaded to catch up on what's happening around the world.

One comment:

We've now loaded quite a few web cam URLs to the list so our total is close to 100. This appears to really slow down the 'info' interface on the back of the widget. When you select a different cam from the list the URL & title fields can take as long as 20 seconds to update. This makes it very difficult to jump to specific items in the list so as to quickly view a favorite site. It can also take about 20 seconds now when we click on the 'i' to switch to the "info" interface for that interface to actually come up.

Other than that, we are really enjoying your handiwork. Many thanks for all the effort you continue to put into improving this wonderful webcam widget.

Cheers

JACKSON  Wow! I've never known anyone who used so many cameras in slothcam! I'm going to have to come up with a way of speeding up reloading the list. Basically slothcam reloads the list of cameras each time you go into the preferences. I did this because sometimes when people had 2 widgets open at once, and they made changes on one, they wanted to see them on the other, so I had to make it reload the list each time you entered the preferences. I'll have to see what I can do about speeding that up...

ANONYMOUS  Love the logo!

I'd like a way to stop the camera name bar from flashing red when it refreshes. It's a bit annoying when you have it set to refresh every 4-5 seconds.

Also, since most weather Radar images have their info at the bottom of the image it would be nice to be able to move the name bar to the top of the window so I could read the time/date info at the bottom of the weather maps. I've had to revert to an older version of slothcam so I can read the time/date stamps on the weather maps.

As for downgrading to an older version of slothcam... why don't you just disable the caption ?

JACKSON  Not sure what that means. Maybe they're blinking a lot because the image is big and it takes time to load, even though slothcam is only loading it every 15 seconds... not really sure about this one. My modem is under my bed so I never see what the lights are doing, but I know slothcam is only updating at the given interval.

ANONYMOUS  Feature rich, but developer needs to slow down releases as just about every time a new feature is added, another release follows a few days later with a bugfix involving the newly-added feature. I'd much rather have less frequent updates which were better tested.

Another gripe with the current version is that when you flip the widget to get at the controls, the back appears lower on screen and a different size and style than the front. The interface in general could do with a bit of thought and design.

Still the best webcam widget I've found so far!

ANONYMOUS  Just a reference to a post I made with DoppleViewer 1.4

As posted to DoppleViewer 1.4

"Sorry Charlie.

This is a neat widget but no more different than a webcam viewer. I went to the National weather service. http://www.crh.noaa.gov I put in my City and pulled up the Short Range Reflectivity. I copied the Image address. I then pasted it into the SlothCam Widget. This sounds like no big deal but when I did this I realized that the SlothCam Widget was updating the images before the images on the National Weather Service website. I had one image that was available 6 minutes before it was available on the website. http://www.crh.noaa.gov

This is no slight to DoppleViewer 1.4 or any other version. I just though people may be interested in this. Perhaps you could add when we want it to update. Otherwise I will be using my SlothCam to view this and alos in almost full screen.

Thanks."

I love my SlothCam keep up the good work! You have improved on everthing I wished for.

ANONYMOUS  Please enable a feature to remove the border and or drop shadow. If you move the widget up to the top in Amnesty either on 10.3.9 or 10.4.1 Tiger it has more than a 1/4 inch space from the top. This is no big deal if you have one Sloth cam up. but if you have 20 Sloth Cams up it takes up way too much space with the Drop Shadow.

Thanks

ANONYMOUS  It would be really nice if the URLs showed not only the url but a name of what the cameras are looking at and where they are.

Also, what would rock would be a little user configurable text label at the bottom of each slothcam window so we could label the cams with things like "New York" and whatnot.

Thanks.
