SCOTT_R Agree with what e_commerce wrote, and a thanks for the tip: Delivery Status is much more polished and useful. Package Tracker only tracks UPS, DHL, and FedEx, and it seems that at least one one of those is always broken (usually UPS). Delivery Status checks far more, and can even check Amazon (and other) package status automatically, *and* you can track multiple packages at once. The choice is a no-brainer. (Version 2.1.11)

LEE325 I have tried this widget and never been able to have ups tracking work, now with this update it is. It seems its not for some others. I have noticed that ups tracking numbers now have spaces in them, that you can see when you track from there website. Try entering your tracking numbers with them, and see if it works for you. INSOMNIS The package tracking systems do require frequent updates, but this little widget still rocks for my constant, neurotic tracking needs. BTW - The download is now correctly 2.1.9 and UPS does work again. (Version 2.1.9)

OLDCORPSE I loved this widget (see my earlier review)... but now I've removed it from my dashboard. In the past few weeks it has completely stopped working. That's 3 versions now, including this one 2.1.8. It doesn't work for Fedex or UPS (haven't had a DHL shipment in a few weeks, so I can't say). I put in a tracking number, and the response is ALWAYS "Tracking number may be incorrect, or the tracking site layout changed." Well, the absurd thing is, if you CLICK on the widget it will take you to the actual page of UPS or Fedex with the perfectly valid tracking number info displayed. Sorry, it's broken, and it's gone from my iBook. (Version 2.1.9)

BUZZARD The last two Fedex shipments (international) that I have tried to track with Package Tracker have not worked. Package Tracker is saying "Package number may be incorrect or the tracking site layout changed". I know the tracking numbers are good since they track in the Fedex site. I wonder if something has changed at fedex.com that has broken Package Tracker? (Version 2.1.7)

OLDCORPSE Nice. I order things all the time, so this is useful. Unfortunatly, a lot of the time I'm tracking stuff from USPS and it would be so useful to have that in this widget... maybe there's some technical reason why it can't be implemented, since I can't believe the develper didn't think of it. ANONYMOUS This is getting ridiculous. I order something every so often and pull out the tracker only to find it's quit working, yet again, and I have to download another update. This app needs a "Download fix for latest coding screwup" IN THE WIDGET to save people like me a lot of time. I'm rating Stability a 1 since I shouldn't have to redownload and reinstall every time I want to use this. (Version 2.1.5)

CORPSECORPS Apparently you haven't considered that it might be due to tracking web sites. Not that i know it is. (Version 2.1.5)

NCC876 It's a perfectly valid complaint, though. Software is expected to work without constant reinstallations. It's not really that hard to include a "Couldn't get data. Download latest version?" button on the widget! (Version 2.1.6)
| Feb 16 2006 |
CORPSECORPS The significant difference there is what? It's still downloading and installing a new version. How much harder is it to do with a browser? Who these days doesn't have a browser running 90% of the time? Oops. I think i just made an argument against the need for this widget. (Version 2.1.7)
| Feb 22 2006 |
NCC876 It's a lot easier to click an "automatically fix screwups" button than it is to go to the trouble of disabling the widget, downloading the new one, replacing the file, etc. If you really like doing all that much, what are you doing using the widget or reading these threads? (Version 2.1.7)

ANONYMOUS I think the widget is great. In response to folks that want to track multiple packages, just open multiple copies of the widget. Each widget is for one package. Works for me. And since I load these widgets onto someone else's computer (my boss), I put the package info onta a sticky note widget and then put the tracker on the bottom so that it is clear what the package is. ANONYMOUS PT 2.1.2 worked on my Mac Mini with 10.4.1. I have one feature suggestion: Allow alist of Tracking Numbers to be stored and scrolled thru. I have two FedEx shipments in transit and it would be nice to be able to select either without losing the other one. (Version 2.1.2)

ANONYMOUS You are able to track multiple packages. Simply add another widget from the bottom. You will now have 2 Package tracker widgets up! This works with any widget, for that matter. You can have multiple weathers. (Version 2.1.2)

OAW One of few and far between. A widget that is actually USEFUL (and not just some front end to launch a query in Safari). Love the look and the functionality. I only have two complaints though .... 1. It would be great if it supported the US Postal Service too. 2. RAM usage is scary. When I put the widget on the Dashboard it sucks up about 10 MB of RAM. That's pretty typical so I don't worry about that. The part that does concern me is that the RAM usage steadily increases even when the widget is just sitting there doing NOTHING. I.e. I put the widget on the Dashboard and didn't even enter a tracking number. After about 24 hours Activity Monitor said that this widget was using 50 MB of Real Memory. What's up with that? Memory leak? (Version 2.1.2)

ANONYMOUS Can't say whether DHL support works again as the package arrived before the patch showed up... alas, this widget seems to not like me as now I am getting the same error with UPS tracking for an entirely different order from an entirely different vendor. 'Failed to get status: undefined (undefined)'.

TOM I wasn't sure there would be any useful third party widgets, but this widget rocks. I'm excited every time I order a package, not because I'm getting something, but because I get to use this widget. The design blends in with the Apple-provided ones, with Aqua-y goodness. I've only ever used FedEx tracking, but it worked flawlessly. Thanks for such a great product. (Version 2.1.2)

ANONYMOUS DHL support worked for a single day for a shipment that was shipped to me yesterday. Now insists "tracking number wrong or layout changed" and refuses to recognize a valid number even though clicking the widget goes to a perfectly good tracking page. Still buggy, apparently. JJS For at least half of my DHL shipments, DHL's own website had no information about a package until after it arrived. Plus, their package tracking systems go down regularly. Even their reps can't give status. (Version 2.1.2)

GORDY First, this is a great concept. I love that you can have multiple instances of it, to track various shipments. 1: You can't switch back to the FedEx/UPS view after selecting one. 2: USPS is not supported. 3: It'd be nice it I could type in the package being delivered--or if the sender's name could show up. I am tracking two now and I am not sure which is which without goping to my email to verify. 4: Is there a way to refresh the information? Does it refresh automatically? (Version 2.0)

ERIK K FRITZ Very nice widget, it fits right in aethetically with the Apple widgets. It works quite nicely but I'd like to second the opinion for a more obvious on-the-fly method for switching from one carrier to the next. It's not a big deal, really, but it seems the right way to do it. Also, I've found that some information gets cut off (I'm having a package shipped form City of Industry, CA, so the city name takes up most of the window) at times. I like the size as it is...is there a way to tell it to wrap the line (and still look good)? (Version 2.0)

ANONYMOUS This is better than the just FedEx tracker widget because it offers FedEx and UPS, but as far as I can tell, once you select to track on or the other, you can't switch from FedEx to UPS or vice versa without closing the widget completely and relaunching it. That's a bit inconvenient. Other than that, it's nice. The addition of USPS tracking would be great! (Version 2.0)

CHRISTOPHER MASTO Thank you for your comments. You can reload the widget (or any widget) with Cmd-R. We'll see about adding a more obvious way to switch in the next version, as well as some more tracking services. (Version 2.0)

ANONYMOUS Rather than having to reload the widget, you can just run two instances of it...set one for FedEx and the other for UPS. I agree, though, that a way to choose carriers on the fly would be the right answer... (Version 2.0)
