MSWWSM  Um, yeah, even *iChat* will do free SMS within the States. $5 for 50 SMSs is *double* what my giant mega-corporation mobile carrier charges for SMSs over plan allowance.

ANONYMOUS  Very nice, good work. But, I'm so tired reading through websites to find out what services like this actually costs in the long run...please make it "no-doubt-able". especially when different countries have different SMS prices...

thanks

JOHN J.  From their website: "The first purchase of SMS Mac combines an annual fee ($10) with 50 SMS ($5)."

Does this mean that it costs $5 to send 50 SMS? So, every 50 SMS will be $5 from here on out, correct?

WESTY  Work great from the UK, which other Widgets certainly do not.

At 0.06p a text is it far cheaper than texting via my Mobile (0.25p each to text abroad)

If it is not for you, then fine, but I feel it is very unfair to knock the guy personally for creating a Widget that many of us will find really useful.

ANONYMOUS  If you don't like the service, go somewhere else.

If you think a free service can do what this can, go for it, that's your choice.

I was happy to pay for a quality widget, good work!

ANONYMOUS  This is the only widget that I know of that supports (and supports well) international SMS messaging. In other words, if I'm in the USA, I can send an SMS message to Europe or Asia.

The "you can get this free elsewhere" crowd doesn't seem to understand this. The portals that even the best ones hook into are USA messaging only.

ANONYMOUS  This guy's attempt to cash in with his Widget AND with a (limited!) account can only be called GREEDY.

UK USER  If you don't like it, don't buy it. It's as simple as that.

I like it, I bought it. I use it. I'm happy with it.

LJ  I don't know why some people are being so nasty about this very nice widget. It works fine and none of the other "free" ones work for the UK.

If you're in the USA you have other options, but there's no need to be so insulting about this well-presented and efficient widget.

Much easier to use this than fumbling with a mobile phone keypad.

ANONYMOUS  What a waste of money. Yet another company trying to take money for services that you can get for free elsewhere. Look into the other sms widgets on macupdate that can do the same for free.

ANONYMOUS  This product is simply the best, easiest to use SMS portal on the Mac platform. It's integration with Apple's address book is a terrific touch making it effortless to use. The only shortcoming is the present inability to receive a reply SMS.

US SMS only options for the Mac (iChat) are simply not an alternative, as SMS usage within the US pales compared to it's widespread adoption and use outside of the US. This developer is practically the only one who has addressed this issue on the Mac platform, and the implementation and interface are peerless.

ANONYMOUS  Are you serious? $10 a year to subscribe, then $5 per 50 SMS messages? That's WAAAY more than my mobile provider costs.

You're basically paying for pretty here. Otherwise, a ridiculous waste of money.

ANONYMOUS  You can send SMS messages for free from most mobile providers therefore rendering this widget less desirable.

BMS  Someone explain to me why I should pay $10, plus $.10 per message when AOL Instant Messenger does it absolutley for free?

Dont pay for this program. Go get AIM, and then just send a message to +(1+desired phone number)

ANONYMOUS  Did you ever think that the developer has to pay to have access to a system which allows his software to send these messages?

If you like it, buy it.

If not, use AIM, no one cares.

DAVE  The AIM thing doesn't work for me. I've tried to send a text to myself and it says "not available". I'm with VirginMobile.

I tried with and without the +1, using my country code instead.

ps.: somewhat limited view of the world, eh?

ANONYMOUS  Why not use AIM/AOL? Two Words: International SMS. The geniuses at AOL apparently haven't recognized (or don't appear too concerned) that SMS has far greater usage OUTSIDE of the USA.

SMS Widget supports International SMS.

ANONYMOUS  A happy customer here. Although these SMS are not free, they are half the price I pay to send them via my mobile provider, are delivered quickly, and when they arrive they say they are from my number. Great stuff.

The Tiger Dashboard Widget is also very nice.

Highly recommended!

ANONYMOUS  I send my SMS from my computer through to my phone via Bluetooth. This widget wants me to pay to send SMS.

Um, no.

Unless you implement the idea of sending SMS by the means of what I just said, then you're product is not only useless to me, its expensive.
