DAMIEN POLLET  The archive seems corrupted... once de-bzipped the .dmg won't mount.

DAMIEN POLLET  Well safari does dowload a .dmg.bz2 (when I simply click the link, not when I save as).

With firefox it's OK...

Maybe a bug with content-type and or redirection?

SEDATED  I have released the icons used in Cage Fighter for folks that have updated and can't change the icons. I have also included instructions on how to install them.

You can grab them at my site

MRMISTER  Confirmed--10.4.6 totally breaks Cage Fighter. I hope this app will get updated--I like Tiger's icons for Mail, I just don't want them in weird buttons.

SERGE   The issue with 10.4.6 is minor. There's no need for an update. Run Cage Fighter again and you will get Panther buttons back!

IX  Oh dear gawd THANK YOU!!!

I hate the new Tiger!Mail look, it's low contrast, not esthetically functional, and well if you're here, it's probably because something is bugging you about it.

I heard there was another look in the beta trials that looked cool, oh well.

I wish the missing side drawer (left or right side) gets address by Apple though. Because now it looks like MS Entourage.

Could it be that Apple is trying to appeal to switchers (PC and Mac users alike), who use MS products?

ANONYMOUS  That's a good observation actually. I think that is exactly what is happening and what Tiger is all about. It's not for Mac users anymore, it's for PC Switchers. I can't even imagine the level of thinking that came up with the new mail interface in Tiger.

TAISHAN  Great app! couldn't stand the original; why did Apple have to do something like that? Would love to apply the Tiger toolbar to any app I choose. Wish I was the program guru to do it on my own. Anyone interested in trying? Cage Fighter unleashed? :)

RHETT  I'm not big on silly non-sequitur names for such specific utilities.

Icons are way too small, as they are the icons with the aqua pills removed.

Otherwise works as advertised, flawlessly. Run it once and the ugliness goes away.

If Cage Fighter's new look doesn't do it for you, check out the more appropriately named Mail Fixer (Which, also supports third-party themes in addition to it's own), which gives Mail 2.0 a more Safari-esque look and looks great in Tiger!

GARBAGE  1) I hate the semi opaque look of the icons in these 'buttons'.

2) I don't have a problem with the icons being grouped together in 'button' otherwise... so i'd be happy with transparent buttons rather than removing them totally.

...anyway, this does does what it claims with out causing problems.

ANONYMOUS  Fantastic tiny application. Now has more control over how the UI fix is applied.

ANONYMOUS  Excellent stuff! This was thoroughly needed, as the buttons are even uglier in other languages than English: the size of the button adjusts to the length of the label, and that makes for some veeery long buttons in Spanish or French, for example.

THD  Ahhhhhh, much much better -- Mail 2.0 now looks like an improved version of Panther's Mail, rather than the abomination that is the default Tiger look. Thanks!

ANONYMOUS  Of course you can customize the toolbar, but you cannot change the look of the buttons. This is what Cage Fighter does. Take a look at the difference:

http://otierney.net/cagefighter/

If you don't mind the look of buttons in the new Mail, then don't use it. But for those who are bothered by the look of those buttons, then this provide a neater and less confusing interface.

It's simple, no?

Did you actually read what this application does? Did you look at the screenshots of what changed?

SCOTT AHTEN  Works great. Thank goodness...

Now, if we can get the the icons used in Panther at their original size. The icons in Tiger are too small and have contrast problems (with and w/out the blue buttons. especially the Junk mail icon)

JORDAN LANGILLE  Works as advertised, for sure it's an improvement.

Make sure you don't have a classic Mail app from OS 9, it'll try to work on that, wouldn't work until I deleted that from my OS 9 apps folder.

You can't beat free though.

OMNIVECTOR  thanks for pointing that out. i originally tried to 'find' mail.app incase users didn't put it in /Applications, and i didn't think this would try and find the OS 9 version first. so instead of going through the trouble i now just patch /Applications/Mail.app and prompt with an error if this isn't found.
