DAHMENATOR Yeah, these guys are really on their game. Fast and efficient. Not only did they upgrade to support 10.6.1, but they did it without breaking support for 10.5. Unlike a lot of other third-party developers out there who claim to be "adding Snow Leopard support" while still retaining backward computability to as far back as 10.4. The Mail Act-On guys are real professionals. (Version 2.1.3)

ROBOTANK Yeah 10.6.1 definitely breaks Mail Act-On (and every other plugin I had working in Mail). Hopefully a fix won't be too long coming. (Version 2.1.2)

DAHMENATOR Version 2.0.4. seems to break Mail's ability to Erase Deleted Messages and Erase Junk Mail. I'm using Mail 3.5 on OS 10.5.6. I have the same problem at home. Removing the MailActOn.mailbundle from ~/Library/Mail/Bundles will fix the problem. But of course, it will disable Mail Act-On. Tried to contact the developer, but saw no means by which to do so on his website. Hopefully he knows. (Version 2.0.4)

BCLARKJ I love this program except for one missing detail. There is no longer any sync for the rules between other computers (at least I cannot find it). If it exists, please advise. Otherwise, great work. But without a sync, it has limited use for me until it does. (Version 2.0.1)

SMORR I had to pull rule sync late in the development process but it is in the works for 2.1 If you need to synchronize rules you can do it manually by moving ~/Library/Mail/ActOnRules.plist I am afraid it is not the best solution but if you edit rules infrequently, it will do the trick. MALISTA I thought I was just updated v1 (should have read the fine lines my mistake) to discover that ActOn v2 breaks Mail (which couldn't load any message) as well as MailTags itself!! also, no doubt that it is great coming from the creator of MailTags, but very pricy indeed if you consider that the 2 work together and now you need 2 licenses! well, back to v1 I guess... ; ) (Version 2.0)

SMORR We are currently resolving a conflict with both WideMail and LetterBox -- This has been the issue for a few people This stems from a version mismatch of Sparkle -- the automatic update engine.

SHERMAN WILCOX Take a look at the description. This is WAY beyond Mail Act-On v.1, including (gasp!) outgoing rules for Mail. I thought I'd NEVER see this. Way to go Scott! (Version 2.0)

MGRIMES Yup, Mail Act-On 2.0 is incompatible with the WideMail plug-in - confirmed by moving WideMail to disabled bundles folder and relaunching mail. (Version 2.0)

LOA I love the look of this app, but unfortunately it usually (but not always!) crashes Mail.app on my MacBookPro. If I lauch the same applescript using Butler, it runs fine, every time. I contacted the developer but received no response. I'm sure this app will work wonderfully for most people, I look forward to the day it works wonderfully for me. (Version 1.3.2)

LOA The dev contacted me, and it seems I may have run into a Mail bug (not an Act-On bug). He was extremely helpful, and as I am using a workaround in any case, I retract the negative aspect of my earlier review. I only wish I could edit the ratings to increase them to where they deserve to be. (Version 1.3.2)

RONAN1 Exactly what you need if you have a lot of mail folders. Rules will cover 95% of the filing you need to do, but from time to time there's an email that needs to be filed somewhere. Here's the solution. I've used it constantly since I installed it. Makes you wonder why Mail doesn't do this - such a simple and elegant idea! (Version 1.3.2)

ANONYMOUS Mail Act-On is fully compatible with 10.4.3. Users experiencing issues with rules in 10.4.3 are probably experiencing issues with MailTags 1.0. MailTags 1.1 was released Nov 1, 2005 to resolve these issues. (Version 1.3.1)

TIM STRINGER I was very happy to stumble across Mail Act-On! I'm always sorting incoming mail into folders (e.g. Respond-Personal, Respond-Work) and was looking for a more efficient and less error-prone alternative to drag-and-drop. The shortcuts are created through Mail's "Rule" interface. Which is clever, but might be a bit confusing at first for more novice users. Though, perhaps this is a non-issue as I think this product is more likely to attract more seasoned Mac enthusiasts. A configuration panel with a few options might be a nice addition in a future version. For example, it would be nice to have a way to customize the hotkey used to activate the shortcut list. It would also be helpful to be able to control how long this list is displayed (currently it's five seconds) and to specify whether or not notifications are displayed each time a rule is executed. INDEV Thanks for your comments and review Tim. I am putting the finishing wraps on version 1.1. which addresses most of these options. And it also takes care of a nasty bug that was greatly affecting people using IMAP accounts. Should be out by the end of the weekend.
