EJI  Does this work in Leopard? Is it the sort of app that can cause major problems if it doesn't?

CALLE  Doesn't work in 10.4.7. Too bad, seems like a nice little improvement.

BADGERB.  Doesn't colorizes custom folders (like the "music" folder with the note on it), aliases, documents or applications. Only colorizes "normal" folders. Would be great to have an app that colorizes everything.

ANONYMOUS  ..."I will check back in a month or so to see if the candy striped can be resolved."

Oh really! I think you will have a long wait.

This is an excellent FREE daemon, it's purpose is to add colour onto the folder, to match the label. Which it does.

It is not a haxie.

ANONYMOUS  Ok but does not do what I want.

I hate Apple's "Candy Stripe" use of labels in list view and I thought Hey Folders would color only the folder. It instead gives me a colored folder on the same colored candy stripe background.

It is of limited use but I'd like it better if I could have it color only the folder. I won't use it but I will check back in a month or so to see if the candy striped can be resolved.

JIMW  I generally have to agree with most of the previous comments about its limitations. Unfortunately those limitations will currently keep it off my system. What I was hoping for is something that would just tint the folder and not the title, while getting rid of that annoying strip of color in views other than "Folder View." Unfortunately this is not the case.

If you are looking for an alternative that will do this, I suggest Viou, available at the same price -Free. You can choose a colored folder as the base folder and automatically paste an application icon on to it if you choose. It just labels or customizes the folder. Its interface takes a little getting used to but its worth it.

The bottom line, in my opinion, "Hey Folders" is a nice idea with plenty of promise, but needs a lot more development before it is ready for "Prime Time."

BLUESER  "Find" through Finder will not work after installation (set as start object), it crashes when I try, and Finder restarts. Removing it from start objects got my search function back.

KAJTUS  Following the my previous comment, it is of course possible to create colored versions of your custom default folder, and replace them with the ones offered by Hey Folders! using the 'show package contents' command. Perhaps this should be offered as a preferences option in a future version.

KAJTUS  Hey Folders! has a limited use. It is most useful as long as you do not use a custom default folder.

That's because Hey Folders! does not color your icons; it only displays a colored version of the original default folder instead of default folders. It will not color documents and custom folders icons. Further, if you install a custom default folder (for example, using iCandy), it will not color it, but again display a colored version of the original OSX default folder.

WELFL  Excellent! I've been waiting for this since OS X was first introduced. I find Apple's color labeling style completely unusable and very confusing. It is impossible to get used to, although I tried because color labeling was invaluable to me for many years in OSes 7, 8 and 9. Now I refuse to use it. No matter what color label one uses, there is the impression that the file has been selected with a mouse click. When you get a bunch of color-labled files in one folder (especially in list form), the overall result is a chaotic mess to the eye. I hope there will eventually be a way to make Hey Folders! highlight only the folder and not the text labels. In the meantime, great work; and the price is perfect. Thank you.

SHAWN  Great little program. All it does is change the color of the folder icon to match your file label, and yet, it's extremely useful. Adds the extra little emphasis on finder labels that we lost in the transition from OS 9 to OS X.

Great job!
