So just rename the file like "se-themecreator.dmg" and it's good to go !

SOFTBEND  Thanks to Sony for making this available for free. It's one of the reasons why I choose to buy Sony Ericsson cell phones, among with the iSync compatibility.

JOEBOB  Great new UI, now if it had a few standard keyboard shortcuts it'd be brilliant - Command+Shift+S for save as, and Command+W for closing a window. Also it'd be snazzy if the window resized to fit everything in, so you don't have to scroll down for some of the 'panes'. Or have the editing bit (the bit without the 'Display' and gradient background) resizeable horizontally - there's a lot of wasted space.

Oh and also the fonts could be a bit bigger.

But, it's still pretty darn great, thanks SE!

DUSTY  A handy little app. It's slow to load on my eMac 1.25 and then it only lets me select the T68i as my phone type. OK, I can change it once it's running but it's still a fault (at least with my setup).

BOWDOIN  OK I made a theme.

Now how do I install it onto my phone?

Am I thick, or is this information hidden in the documentation somewhere?

D9  Depending on your phone, you should be able to upload it via Bluetooth or USB. How do you currently sync your phone w/ your Mac? That's how you'll upload the theme.

For me, it's Bluetooth, so I use the Bluetooth File Exchange (Utilities) to upload the theme file to my phone. It goes automatically into the Themes directory on my phone for selection.

BBOROFKA  This is awesome. Kudos to Sony Ericsson for bring some of these neat phone utilities to the Mac... now if only they'd just use Xcode and build Universal Binaries.

Who's gonna make a sweet Aqua-like theme now for the Z520a?

ANONYMOUS  Looks promising but...

Sony Ericsson supports T68i, P900 but no P800 what kind of crap is that?

Is the P800 that poorly designed that it does not belong with the old ones (T68i) and not with the newer ones W800????

I like my P800 but not the way I am treated for add ons and software.

ENCRO  The easiest was is to send it via Bluetooth using Blueetooth File Exchange in /Applications/Utilities or if you don't have bluetooth you could alway get a USB/Serial cable that is suitable for your cellphone/handset.

TINYPALACE  Nice piece of software - was happy to find something so easy to use and intelligently laid-out. Was a breeze to slap a theme together... BUT...

Once I downloaded the theme to my phone (T610), my phone refused to accept it (and yes it was a T610 theme). So, in the end, this nicely designed, usable piece software is, with all due respect, essentially USELESS.

Anyone else out there with similar probs?

D9  Works like a charm! You'll need an image editor like Photoshop or Fireworks to create and save your original images. The process overall is simple and straight-forward. You can create a theme even if you select or edit nothing. My only request would be some way to modify font styles.

I just wish Sony Ericsson would provide a site location to store these for public viewing/access.

D9  If your phone uses Bluetooth, you use Apple's Bluetooth File Exchange found in Utilities. Your phone should recognize the file as a theme and place it in the correct location on the phone.

ORANJE  Pretty nice program. Completely straightforward, no real learning curve at all. It took me a couple of hours to make my first theme, but most of that was in PhotoShop anyway. Open the program, pick your phone, and the rest of it is just point-and-click, with a preview window so you can see how it will look.

The interface could be streamlined a bit, but that's just nit-picking. The program does everything you really need it to with ease...

ROB  A tad clunky, but very nice for free software. To get my phone to show up (T68i, the default, was stuck on), I had to do a reset in the program.

And it's VERY encouraging that this is published by Sony Ericsson! Vendor support to the community is a good thing, folks. :-)

This at least makes for a nice theme browser, which is better to preview a theme before uploading it to your phone.

JOOLSG4  For anyone who doesn't know about it already, there's been a way to create themes on Mac OS X for a long time, with "myThemeCreator" - a free JAVA program that's updated regularly.

JOOLSG4  Seems to work fine, in fact exactly the same as the Windows version. The interface is a bit all over the place - especially the screen where you select a phone. But it works.

One thing I've noticed so far is that it doesn't appear to like loading K700 themes previously created in Lasyk's "myThemeCreator" for Mac OS X. It loads the colours only - you'll have to re-import all the images individually.

It's great that SonyEricsson have released this. Hopefully we'll see more software support from them in the future.

XGRAPE  As you can see from the screenshot, if you have used the Windows version, this is a direct port, more or less. And it shows. The interface is horrible, truly. But hey, it works, and its free. I couldn't be happier - been waiting for this for a long time. Time to throw out "Phone Agent"!
