HORST HILDEBRECHT  iSnip was a great application, but under 10.6 it caused hanging, so it had to be disabled. Do not use iSnip with Snow Leopard.

FFASS  Ditto the above comment. Was using iSnip for years but it's development is dead. And it's PPC, so it's slow even on my Mac Pro. ClipMenu offers the same features, it's not a PPC app (of course), plus it shows your long snippets via "tool tip" pop-up...really nice. Donated $5 to the developer -- I know I'll be using this application just about everyday.

ALEXANDER KLAR  iSnip 1.4 is unstable under Leopard, as stated before – unless you choose "Disable clipboard history" in the Preferences. After doing so it's a reliable and very useful companion.

ALJUK  This app is awesome. I'm a web developer and can't tell you how useful this is to me. Sometimes it's the simplest things...

If I could request one feature, it would be syntax colouring for different coding languages. But really, that's just an aesthetic consideration.

Keep up the good work.

DAVE DELONG  Hi iSnip users,

iSnip 2 is currently in the early stages of development. I've decided to rewrite the entire thing to take more advantage of some of the tools provided in the OS (CoreData being one of them), so it's "back to the drawing board."

But yes, iSnip 2 is forthcoming (when, I don't know... I do have school and a job to worry about first).

Thanks,

Dave DeLong

BUDHUSA  wow great news!

however, until then....is it possible just to compile a universal binary update of the old isnip....it works perfectly for me, except for the minor issue of being rather slow.... :(

also...if i may request...keep the new version simple too! isnip's virtue is that it isnt a bloated, feature-filled app with dozens of floating opaque windows...

thanks,

aron

FFASS  Great little app. Stable and fast on my Intel machine.

I've been using iSnip for a long time and recently installed it on my brand new Mac Pro. It's been working flawlessly without a single crash. This app is no longer being developed but, as is, it's extremely useful. My favorite feature: it allows me to insert text by either selecting my text from the menubar (pop-down window) or by simple drag & drop (from the "Snippet Manager" window). iSnip allows you to group your "snippets", assign each with a short name, and quickly edit them as needed. It's free and, though it'll never become "intel-compatible," it's stable and fast on my Intel mac.

ROADTRIPDK  That is what I look so much about MacUpdate. They are clear and concise as to what systems/platforms a specific program can be used for.

It clearly states that this is still only a PPC binary. Of course it won't run on Intel. Wait or write the author about creating an Intel or PPC/Intel universal binary.

WHYTOI  Disagree. Plenty of non-universal binary/PPC apps run under Intel Macs through Rosetta. So it's not a definite thing.

KEN M.  I love this little app. Been using it everyday, all day, for many months. Only ever crashed on me one time that I can recall.

Don't know if it's possible, but the option of a mini floating palette, if just to access the clip "history" would be neat, to have the ability to place it anywhere on the screen.

Thanks - Ken.

STEPHEN  Great little application.

Wondering if it would be possible to include the option to customize the time & date formats. Formally written dates are a nice option. Or, at the very least you could allow a list of date formats to choose from (ie. ISO YYYY-MM-DD).

WACKYMACS  excellent program, well done to the developers. Picture support in the text clipping field would be cool if possible.

In the recent versions (1.4 and 1.3) i've been discovering a lot of the beach ball and a lot of hang when adding/deleting notes, 1.4 is the same as 1.3 in terms of this problem. Running under Mac OS X 10.3.8.

DAVE DELONG  Contextual Menu Plugins only work in the Finder. We would have to make plugins for every possible app you might use, most of which don't even support CM plugins. And pasting text in the Finder is usually not a logical thing to do.

Yes we have considered this before, but ruled it out.

Thanks!

ANONYMOUS  I've been using iSnip for several weeks.

Now I can't live without.

I was just wondering if I could delete (or iSnip would delete) overlapped items in the history menu.

I tend to simply copy and paste words if I see them near cursor, instead of pasting them from iSnip.

Thus in time all these same words accumulate in iSnip.

This is sometimes counter-intuitive although I then fully realise what had happened.

ANONYMOUS  What a simple and elegant solution to the clipboard situation! I have used, and continue to use, a number of other apps with a clipboard manager as part of the app, but I never use their clipboards - I always use iSnip. It's now got a permanent place on my task bar. Great work!

HORST HILDEBRECHT  You are right that iSnip is a great program and a worthy improvement on the old PTHPasteboard. But it is no replacement of PTHPasteboard. I still use PTHPasteboard because PTHPasteboard stores not only text clips, but also picture and other clips. And it is faster to use PTHPasteboard.

ANONYMOUS  This app now resides permanently in my menubar. I've tried so many clipboard apps till now and this is the most useful one.

If I'm allowed to propose one extra feature then it would be the "reverse order" option in the history submenu.

Currently I have to go all the way down to the bottom to reach the most recent item. This is quite a chore with a lot of items preserved.

DAVE DELONG  With 1.3.1, all new history snippets now get added to the top of the history menu. If you have a bunch of items in your history menu that you'd like to reorder, you could drag and drop them into any order that you'd like.

SJK  iSnip is evolving nicely.

In 1.3, the "Limit History to N items" preference reverts to the default 20 between sessions. Also, new History snippets are still added at the bottom although it's been suggested it would be easier accessing them from the menu if the most recent snippets were on top.

ALEX KADIS  This is one of the greatest pieces of freeware I have ever seen; It has a clean intuitive interface, loads quickly, has a great price (what user could complain about free?) and is an overall great tool. It is a useful for programmers and other people who need/want this sort of organization.

As far as improvements: since contextual menus are out, [1] I think the ability to customize the keyboard shortcuts for "Manage Snippets...","Create Snippet From Selection", and "Create Snippet From Clipboard" would be great.

Thank you for a great application, keep up the good work! Also, please make more software, if you're good at this, I'm sure you can make MORE great stuff!
