XJSMITH  as the previous poster noted i too was concerned about the limited nature of the demo, but after email contact with the courteous and knowledgeable developer mr. serbian i took a chance and bought the app. i am truly impressed, it is an outstanding addition to my video tool kit. it has taken every type of conversion i have thrown at it and produced excellent results. the encoding process is at least 3 times faster than ivcd and approximates the length of your input file. for example a 65 min .mov project took 75 min to convert to mpeg2 and a few more minutes to burn. quality was almost at the level of a store bought dvd. very little pixelation or blocky stuttering. audio/video mix very smooth. extremely easy for the newbie to mac and video conversion to use. one-click dvd works flawlessly. countless options for the more fluent videophile to explore. customer support the best i have encountered on the web. help is just an email and seemingly a few minutes away. put your worries to rest on the limited demo and try the full package. you will be happy you did. 5 STARS

LITTLEB  pity the demo has alot of limitations it would be nice if the developer would offer a 15 days trail of the app without limits as this would allowed people to see it full benefit

i tryed the app and think it ok demo wise just to many limitations

BBASILICO  I bought and downloaded but I could not get to work out of the box...

It was my bad for not having the right Quicktime set-up.

The Developer was more than helpful with getting it up and running.

I have a couple other shareware programs for DVD work but this is my new favorite!

Worth the $25 and then some!

NORIKER  I'm having huge problems getting this app to do anything but hang up. Can you tell me what you changed about your QT setup? I can view MPEG2 videos without any problem. No matter if I want to export from MPEG1 or MPEG2 to QT or from anything to MPEG2 it always crashes. My computer is fast enough.

CEBE  I've been using this most useful app for several years. It never failed. I can recommend it to everybody, even to "beginners" as the developer is most helpful answering all kinds of questions about usage.

FRINGEWOOD  Worth ten times as much, one of the best shareware deals available today, and an absolute must for all serious video users on the Mac platform. It's also got a lot of new features that are beginner friendly. No question about it, it's a must have.

SVETO  This thing rocks! It is UB and optimized for the intel chips. What else can I say, it just works. I had a small issue since I was a bit lazy to read the manual, but the author is very helpful. Just a small mail to SERBIAN and I was back on schedule. Very necesary utility if you need MPEG conversions.

DIVER32  I have one of the first ReplayTV boxes, the 4000 series, and have been using a wide range of tools on my Mac with varying degress of success for many years. MPEG2 Works 4 puts everything in one place, is easy to use, and quite speedy too. Customer support is quite responsive as well - all for a great price. I wish I had found this app years ago. Thanks!

SERBIAN  Subtitles will be rendered in white with black outline at 28 point size using the Arial typeface with ISO8859-1 characterset centered at the lower part of the screen where they usualy resides. Support for other charactersets like Cyrilic, Greek, Thai, Chinese etc. will be added in future updates like its stated on my web page and on the forum...However you can add any type of subtitles to an AVI before encoding to MPEG2 and then you'll have it on DVD after authoring...Please check here on my forum how to do it:

SERBIAN  You have to mount your .ISO image first...Try with Disk Utility and if it wont then try with Toast application...

Then you have to extract MPEG2 files off the image...If its SVCD /Super Video CD/ in question then you have to use VCD Copy X application to extract MPEG2 /.mpg/ movie(s) like is explained here on my forum:

http://www.mpeg2works.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=954

If its .ISO DVD image then mount and rip to hdd using YadeX or MacTheRipper applications, or play the VOB(s) inside VIDEO_TS folder in QuickTime...Note that QuickTime requires MPEG2 Component for decoding MPEG2 files which you can purchase at Apple.com...

AJHOYT  This appliaction is the best for MPEG-2 format lovers like myself. Thanks to this appliaction I can now oragnize (homemade) movies into orginal MPEG-2 format and Dolby Digtial Sound, in iTunes. All I needed was this application, MPEG-2 Componet, QuickTime Pro, and finally the AC3 (Dolby Digital) sound plugin (Google for the plugin). Thanks to this application I can watch GREAT resolution Movies (Lossless Movies) Very nice. Plus if you have any questions on how to use the Application like I did all you have to do is email the developer and you will get a response in no time. So in the end if you want Lossless Movies, buy this program well worth the price!

TREADMAN  I bought several other converters before stumbling across MPEG2 Works 4. I have used it at least 10 times for various conversions and never once has it failed (unlike its competitors). And you cannot ask for better service - timely reply EVERYTIME.

My only wish is to have a progress bar.

Best $25 you will ever spend.

LEIGH CABLE  This is the best converter I have found - it does seamlessly what a whole folder full of other programs costing way more could achieve and all by itself. All I needed to do was load the file, select the output option, press start and wait for the conversion to finish. Generally a 700Mb .avi to SVCD conversion would take around 8 hours on my DP800 System. Then just a quick run with VCDToolsX1.1 and just burn off the resulting disks with Toast. EXCELLENT!!!!!

My compliments to the Programmer! I might also add that it never locked up or failed once - I have converted at least 50 movies with this (version 4.0.7) without one error.

MJOLNIR  This program has ALWAYS done whatever it was that I needed to do with video files... and better than the software is the developer. I had a problem figuring something out, sent him an email, and he worked out my problem almost immediatley.

This program is a must have if you play wiwth video! Thge biggest problem with it is remembering and understanding everything that it can do!

JAVIN  I like this tool a great deal, but have not had a lot of luck with the quality of VRO conversions. I recently discovered MPEG Streamclip for OS X, which is a freeware application, that handles this particular conversion very well and would strongly suggest that people who need VRO support take a look at it as an other alternative that might meet their needs.

ANONYMOUS  well i would like to say that since this application was first introduced i have found this works 99% of the time. if it fails it most likely is user skill not the appz itself and this takes very little to understand its operation. no other application works as simply and effectively and i have tried them all. support is superior and promt. as mentioned at this price it is a bargain. now of course mainconcept mmcoder works much faster but look at the price difference. well worth adding to anyone's video toolbox for all the things it does.

MARK GOLDSCHMIDT  First of all, this program is amazing! It does everything you could possibly need to do with video files. I can now burn files recorded with my EyeTV, and convert them to full screen which I couldn't do before. Using this along with DVD2oneX, I can now record significantly over the 90 minute limit that EyeTV imposes on my DVD burns.

Most importantly however, is the support from the developer. Not only was he right there when I had a question, but was more than eager to quickly add a feature that I needed that the program didn't initially have. If ever there was a program, or a developer that deserved high praise, this is it. Worth every penny that it costs, and still would be even if he charged twice the price!

WOLF  Does all sorts of amazing things, but lacks clarity.

If you are working with video, this enables you to do almosyt anything you could want. Where it falls down is in the interface, which IMHO is very confusing.

I manged to convert files the way I wanted once, but can't seem to find how to do it again with different files. Nothing seems to work and I get error messages when I follow the online tutorials.

I hope that a future version will be clear enough to not need tutorials.

please examine your mail server, it seems to forward messages sent to info@mpeg2works.com to random customers in your address book. I just got 4 of them myself, along with complaints about that issue too.

However, thanks for your never-ending work on this wonderful app.

HAROLD STEWART  Serbian just keeps making this better and better . . . The advanced DVD authoring tool is an awesome addition! I've been a longtime user, and the support is awesome. If you can't find the answer to your question in the forum, he's always answering his emails . . . most of the time within minutes after I've emailed him. Find another developer that takes this much pride in his program. Thanks!

MAURY MCCOWN  I couldn't be more pleased with this program! Tosa did an outstanding job of simplifying video encoding and conversion with MPEG2 Works' interface, and the forum he maintains should win awards for customer support.

The batch processing support is a GREAT addition (in fact, my G5 is at home doing 11 NTSCDVD encoding sessions while I'm at work).

MPEG2Works is an indispensable tool for any digital video enthusiast's toolbox, and at $25 this application is waaaaay under-priced.
