TOMASHASTINGS  I was annoyed by the bluetooth file exchange app in mac os x for saving received files in ~/Documents, so I set out to find the preferences for it, turned out to be: /Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist

I tried opening that file in a text editor but it wasn't plain text (quite obviously), so I searched macupdate for plist and found this handy little program, I looked for the setting I wanted to change, changed it and saved.

These little free apps really make my day, hooray for no nonsense straight-to-the-point software.

ECCO  PrefSetter is really useful to me! a good and fast way to tidy up your preference files.

one suggestion: a 'find as you type' box on top of the 'Open Domain Quickly' window that jumps to the first occurrence of the search term (in the file name).

ANONYMOUS  Wow, having the app's ICON shown as the app's screenshot was soooooo informative to me. I now have a COMPLETE understanding of what this app does and can make an informed decision on if I should make the effort to even download this. Thanks, Dev...You rooooooock.

ANONYMOUS  LOL.

I mean... Yes. The developer should actually take a screen shot of a representative interface element instead of the icon. You know, like an open window in the application, perhaps showing menu options - editing tools...

Yeah. That's what I meant to say.

DARKSHADOW  Hmm, I didn't mean to do that, to tell the truth. Chalk it up to me submitting the stuff while half asleep.

Had I been paying attention, I would have skipped on it - there's nothing really visually stunning about the app, and a screen shot of it in action wouldn't really contribute anything.

LEO OF BORG  All this quibbling over a 300k App?? That's free?? Hmm. This doesn't make sarcasm. More like 'drama'.

Download this (free) app and see if it's for you. Sheesh.

JOHN  Very cool! This is something I'll keep in my toolbox. Being able to search through all the prefs is sweet. Now if only I could delete a preference file with this as well (or at least 'Reveal' it in the finder) ;)
