NEO979  I'm trying to figure out if this program is the cause of a particular issue that I've just identified. If you are using Screenography and your disk space seems to be vanishing, you might try opening the Terminal and typing

cd ~/Desktop; rm ./.QT*

I can't 100% guarantee that this won't delete any data you actually needed, but I'm pretty sure it is just partially cached data that was never fully processed.

PIXELJUNKEY  Except it's not pulling ahead of Snapz Pro, either in terms of performance or in terms of how much functionality it has. Just because it outputs to Flash doesn't make it better.

JOEL MUELLER  I appreciate that this is pulling ahead of Snapz Pro, as it can export to more formats like .swf for video (instead of just .mov) and that it is a Universal Binary. It would be cool if it could integrate or bundle some of the compression and conversion features of VisualHub as well.

GRUMPYTICO  I'll second the anonymous post below, this is mega unstable. It not only froze, but it halted my machine completely when recording a Parallels session. This happened not once, but twice...stay away from this one.

ANONYMOUS  stupid. the program doesn't appear in the dock, which is fair enough. but it doesn't appear in the force quit menu either. so if the program freezes (as it did EVERY time i tried to export a movie) the only way to stop it is either from the terminal using the KILL command or using Activity Monitor and stopping its process. why would i buy something that is so unstable?

ANONYMOUS  The previous reviews are absolutely wrong. It seems that the authors (rich & Anonymous) got something wrong - because of this: one extra star from me.

I have tried to demos of screenography. Whlie the first one 1.001 somehow got stuck while exporting my flash video 1.002 does export flash as promised. The quality seems to be o.k. You will need to have a system configuration with better performance to capture real large areas of movies. SnapzPro does a better job for video - but it offers no Flash export.

Good product, developer does quickly respond to questions.

ANONYMOUS  Putting the developer on the blacklist is a bit of an over-reaction. They produce some nice products and this product isn't listed as FREE, but as shareware on MU, so I fail to see the deceit. That said, the product itself is just so-so, but still a valid listing.

ANONYMOUS  Agreed, this products developer is deceitful. I think they should be added to the developer blacklist personally.

RICH  Free? This is misleading - as you say "Record any area of the screen to a movie or Flash file.(This feature is not available in Screenography Lite)".

So there should be two entries in MacUpdate: one for Screenography, and another for the free Screenography Lite, which is nothing more than an advertising tool that reinvents the wheel that Grab provides.

Which raises an interesting question: shouldn't MacUpdate charge developers who use executable advertisements?
