FLASH1296  Very good at quitting background and faceless applications.

Must be manually updated each time an appl' is launched.

Quitting Finder merely relaunches it.

One appl' refuses to quit via "StopStart" (KDX Client)

Getting APPLESCRIPT error:

"Can’t make contents of «class datC» of «class seDR» of «class tabW» id 4 of «class scrV» id 3 of window id 1 into type string. (-1700)"

BRILDENLANCH  I assume there's a difference between Quitting and Stopping/Pausing.

RORO01  I really can't see the benefit of this application. Instead of clicking on this application icon just click on the icon of Activity Monitor application, select the process and click on "Quit Process" button.

SIMI CHAVEL  Compare App Stop (at 0.8). Stable, intuitive, puts up menubar icon with drop down list to control stopping and starting.

ZANGIEF  But App Stop is shareware now… I found 0.9 but it doesn't work on Leopard. Anyone have 1.1 or something else that will?

BADDUDE  I downloaded it but when I typed in the name of an active application, it did not recognize it. There is no help, no documentation to tell you how to use it.

ANONYMOUS  A classic. See the screenshot to become a believer. This is a wrap around a wrap around a wrap. The Unix API 'kill' admits of 'signals' that can be sent to processes, among others:

SIGINT - interrupts a process

SIGCONT - continues a process

Most of this is moot anyway, as OS X adequately puts processes to 'sleep' when a Mac is closed or put to sleep somehow - and automatically resumes these processes when the computer is awakened again.

One naturally encourages the developer to continue his forays into the operating system and one naturally wishes him all the best, but this one is a bit thin - someone on the order of a nanometer or less. Sorry!

ARIN DAVOODIAN  some programs do not have a pause button for certain actions such as rendering or copying, this program will allow you to stop the application completely allowing you to put the computer to sleep (useful if you have a laptop) and resuming at a later time.

ANONYMOUS  Your computer will pause ops anyway if you put it to sleep.

ANONYMOUS  What does it really do, provide a GUI for issuing "kill -STOP ..." and "kill -CONT ..." commands so you don't have to do it from Terminal.app?

ANONYMOUS  Glad to hear you're going to be updating it a lot. But don't mess with the GUI - it's already perfect.

Seriously: what planet are you from?
