DRDUL  Even though the description (and the dev's website) says that File Juicer will extract the JPEG pictures from "Canon and Nikon" RAW files, it works find on Olympus and Panasonic RAW files, too. I find this particularly useful, as I shoot with an Olympus E-P1 and a Panasonic LX#, and Apple has yet to provide support within OS X for these RAW files. File Juicer provides a fast way of viewing and sorting through these files.

PAULNOJUSTPAUL  This is much belated but I just have to give this app and its dev absolute full points. If you'll bear with me a minute I'll explain why.

My dad died in early 2006 in another country. We went over for the funeral and took pictures with my wife's DSLR as a record. A couple of weeks after returning home our house was broken into and several bits of kit were knicked. The camera and the iBook the images were backed up on both went in the hit. They were replaceable, but the images were not. It was heartbreaking having to tell the rest of the family the images were lost.

A couple of weeks later our local boys in blue did some above and beyond searching and matched a recently recovered camera with us. The flash card, alas, was blank.

Fast forward a month. I vaguely recalled a mention of this utility on a Mac news site, so I thought I'd hunt it down and - just for a laugh - see if it could recover anything from the card.

I pretty much broke down in tears when I saw it effortlessly recover pretty much all of the pics we'd taken off this erased flash card.

Yes, I know that recovering data from media is not in this day rocket science, but it made a real, tangible difference to me and my family.

I know I thanked you privately at the time, Henrik, but I thank you to this day for offering this app.

To other readers out there, I'm sure (well, I simcerely HOPE) it will not have such a crucial role in your life, but if you're faced with having to recover flash cards or similar, do give this a try.

Again, thank you Henrik. Please know that you made at least two generations of my family happy.

And of course, this martian juicer - my personal favourite:

http://www.uncrate.com/men/images/juicy-salif-juicer.jpg

Unfortunately, we shouldn't expect any of these for the new icon (if there is even going to be such a thing) because of prior copyright issues. Perhaps you could come up with something original, Monoclast?

Anyways, real good app this!

DONPA  File Juicer is definitely a must-have utility if you do any work with graphics. Pulling a vector file from a PDF publication has repeatedly saved me the time and effort of finding the right person and the correct file in the graphics department of an organization.

The application is drag-and-drop-dead-simple. The extracted files are classified/organized in folders. Intuitive is the word - won't need the manual unless you want to tap into even more powerful features (e.g., recovering files off erased flash cards, from damaged files and more).

Updates and improvements are introduced on a pretty routine basis. Can't speak for the responsiveness of the developer because I've never had problems that required a response. Juicer truly earns its 5-star rating.

Echo One also produces Double Take for making photo panoramas - another ease-of-use winner. If you've never tried making a pano, now's the time. And no, I have no relation to Echo One - just really appreciate apps that make my work a little easier.

K0GG  I'm really please to have bought this app. I have used it more than I was expecting and for the cost of the time that it has saved me, it has already paid for itself.

I like that I don't have to work out how to use this app. I just drop my file on the window and the jobs done. A folder appears on my desktop with all the found resources nicely organised in folders with index.html previews of all the images.

File Juicer has enabled me to rework Word docs, PowerPoint Files and PowerPoint Shows full of images, PDFs and corrupted PDFs as well as Windows files that I was unable to open at all. I have been able to get to the data I needed with the minimum of fuss.

HENRIK DALGAARD  File Juicer extracts PICT, PDF, EPS, WMF and EMF which are all vertor formats. JPEG is still by far the most common format you find embedded in other file types.

WMF and EMF are found inside Microsoft Office documents which can in theory contain all file types, including WMV and QuickTime files.

HENRIK DALGAARD  Flash has its own way for vector graphics. You need a converter for that. File Juicer finds files inside other files, and extract them unconverted.

I have made a list of the varous file formats File Juicer has met on the web site with information about how they work.

Kind regards

ANONYMOUS  Yeah I'd love to be able to extract sounds from games as well. WireTap from ambrosia.com is handy but a quick way to just rip the sounds out of a game would be great. I know some games sounds can be collected by right clicking a game and searching through the package contents but a lot of games seem to be tied up in single DAT files or similar. A way to burrow through these would be great.

ANONYMOUS  If File Juicer does not extract images, the images are not stored in a standard file format.

Corel Draw is almost encrypted, so I don't believe that image extraction will be feasable. Print it to PDF and extract it that way.

You can use the same trick with Illustrator.

I have not gotten any Illustrator files with images inside, but I would like one by email.

Kind regards

MIKURO  Quickly and painlessly extracted a couple dozen JPEGs that were embedded in a .doc file. Wonderful, because AFAIK there's no way to view such files without MS Office.

I always wondered wanted a program like this. I'm very glad sometime took the time to make it, and do it well.

The interface could certainly be slicker, but hey, it's easy to use and gets the job done, so I'm happy. No real complaints here.

RYAN  This is one of the few shareware apps I like enough to keep and purchase. It's a lifesaver, and extremely useful for extracting pictures from PowerPoint files. Even though I have PowerPoint, it's a royal pain and waste of time to copy and paste images out of it -- just run it through File Juicer and they're waiting for me on my desktop in seconds. It's fast, lean, efficient, and completely idiotproof. It's saved my butt on several occasions when I had to get information out of a file for which I didn't have a program to open it. Thank you!
