SLOB  Been using this for years - interesting to see the development. Budgeting charts nice & informative, reports quite good for categories, importing works within limitations and sometimes obscurely, but still some other issues:

The 3D charts are glossy and fancy, but too much so with 'lines', which look like spaghetti & are hard to decipher. The 2D equivalent is really basic. Something in between, Numbers style, would be better, imo.

Multi-currency works well for the left panel overview. You can change the main currency in the prefs (nice if there was a more accessible way & even a choice to list more than one at the top summary) but you still can't combine currencies for chart readouts, which most other programs do. Baffling.

If you want to redefine several beneficiaries you'd normally select them all and do so, but that option disappears leaving you to do them one by one. Again, frustrating.

I'm using this mostly so far for account and budget overviews. Looking forward to more flexibility.

SOMEONE  I really like the looks of this program, but the tab order for new transactions drove me nuts. The first item to be entered should be the name of the transaction.

Also, there seems to be too many fields in the new transaction form .. would be nice to be able to turn off "beneficiary" option. Also, category options to select with keyboard via typing would be quicker for keyboard entry. Takes extra time to have to type and then move to the mouse to select a category, and then back to typing.

ANON BUD  Well, I’ve been trying for some time to get this to import my .qif file. It only downloads the categories, not the transaction. Since I am just evaluating financial software (I currently use—and quite like—Quicken, which Intuit seems to be phasing out) I do not want to have to contact the developer to see how things work. Other packages I’ve tested had absolutely no problem importing my .qif files.

I’m moving on to something else.

XPLICIT  Why is there a colour gradient in the lower (right) section(s) of this app? Sure, gradients look nice but I think if used like this in an app the usability is impaired. It gets more difficult to distinguish the foreground elements from the background.

PETERFL  Been using iFinance since Version 2, thanks for the free update to version 3. I'm using MacFamilyTree from Synium, too, both have been great Apps.

Version 3 seems to be a major leap forward, thanks for all the hard work!

PANTS  Won't import account data from banks (except the few that use CSV--and does that poorly); doesn't do split transactions. Useless. Stick with Moneydance.

TANKKNIGHT  I started experimenting as I am very tired of Quicken and this sounded pretty good. It was going so-so with my testing. My biggest complaint would be that it is not very flexible in the personal customizing that I wanted to do. I then went to save what I had and granted I am using as a demo, but it doesn't allow saving in demo. Bummer ... it's at a nice price, but I expect to be able to save so I can dig in deep to make up my mind.

SLOB  It's not pretty, and I don't mean that in an icon lover sense - the scroll bars are less the width of what we're used to so mousing is more fiddly, the columns are quirky..

But in use it's now a load better than v.1. Very fast even with a 3 year import of daily cash flow items from v.1. There's now a built-in transfer option which on the import from v.1 needs setting up one by one (changes on a multiple selection are needed) but once done it's a big advantage in seeing what's been going on.

There's a big selection of charts in the default doc. They may need renaming but they're configurable and already give lots of feedback. Weird menu commands (eg. New item, or 'booking' as it's called here - Cmd opt E..?). No Export option yet either, so you'd be stuck with it if you go for it.

If they'd redevelop this in Cocoa it'd be a sweet deal for $20, and even now just for the speed & charts it's a good bargain item. Let's hope it gets worked on more than v.1 did.

RICHO  True. I wish more new software would take a gradual pricing approach and sustain credibility in shareware.

This app looks like it might get developed. Hope so. Pretty fair help files (in case you need em), good use of Cocoa drawers and so on, stable, nimble, easy to use and a deal for 10 bills. Nice.

ABHI BECKERT  Amazing app, definitely try this one out! It's perfect for anyone who want's a simple finance app that works extremely well.

Don't let the low price fool you into thinking this is a low quality product. Not all companies base the cost of their software on how good they want their target market to think the product is (peoples opinion of quality is always heavily biased towards the most expensive product, it's instinctive or something). I know what I'm talking about, I'm in the software industry myself, this issue is #2 on the list of how to set price of a product (after covering your costs).

With software, you should be careful not to judge quality based on the price. In-fact, software companies that have high prices usually care too much about profit to put more than token effort into the quality. In other words, they usually write really bad software, but customers rarely notice, they honestly think they own the best app money can buy.
