JUST A USER  The bugs introduced with 10.5 and the current java version got fixed within 2 days after I complained to the developer.

JUST A USER  It is the only one permitting rows and columns with note cards (PLEASE, no, do not mention scrivener here, as scrivener (1.5) has a totally lacking implementation of note cards and is totally overrated as a writing app) so one just has to live with the many bugs SuperNotecard has.

REDGRASS  I have played with supernotecard, scrivener, onenote, mindmanager, freemind, .. many programmes to organise ideas for writing. I aggree that if you are on a Mac, scrivener is way the best. But, I have to use speech recognition and switched to Mac because vista on the PC is so terrible and is no backwardly compatible with National Institute of health and other university or scientific software. There is no way that the research teams that made the biophysical and imaging software are going to get togehter to apply for another 10 year research grant just to update the scienftic software because ms does not make compatible update. Unfortuantely the Apple has not really supported speech dictation recognition so us users have to use Dragon Naturally speaking. Dictate for mac, although it is based on the dragon engine does not allow for the learning of new words via correction and is a d*g; it think the company often upsets its clients. So back to PC XP. OK. But in this enviroment, Mindola's Supernotecard is very good indeed for writing, not yet scivener, and how I loved scrivener and its community: ...xxx but Voice - dictation - xxx Many of us finger dyslexics need to talk and apple has never seemed intested.

Also Supenotecard has something the is pure Gold. Especially, in these times when people are trying to survive microsofts attempt at self immolation via Vista and have to move accross operating systems. Supernotecard runs on Linux, windows and Mac AND if this were not totally suptendously useful and considerate of the poor schlemiel stuck between operating system. Mindola have done something that should get the software version of the Victoria Cross (do'nt know in Americans have the same award).....

The software can import and export OPML. If you have 2 neurons to rub together you will realise what this means for transferability and interoperability between software.

So: not as super cool as Scrivener, but able to cross Universes and live in the Multiverse.

LORD LIGHTNING  Yes, but no but --- why would you shell out $30 or thereabouts when Scrivener does all of this and is a real writing application as well.

The Scrivener forum is worth the price of the software and the software is worth two or three times what it's author is selling it at.

With Scrivener you get resizable cards, text, database, split screen, full page, film script, comic and theatre templates, fantastic courteous help, and the best writing software available anywhere at any price.

Compare this to Scrivener before you shell out.

JOHN HOLTER  Hi Everyone,

I would like to add a few comments to the reviews on this site. First, I noticed that most of them were written in 2005. But SuperNotecard has been upgraded to a spiffy 0-60 road machine that can take the curves now. So if you are just looking I would suggest that you take this app for a spin.

I get the impression from the many reviews I have read about SuperNotecard - SN - that some users misunderstand the purpose of SN. This is probably the best pack of 3X5 cards you will ever purchase. And that is what SN is all about: To capture ideas - inspirations - and the utterances of our world and be able to shuffle the data around until you, the interrogator, can decide on an outcome. It is like have the very best file clerk in your company working just for you.

SN is not a word processor, or a grammar checker, in fact, I turn off all the bells and whistles that the folks at Mindola Software provide so that I can get on with my snooping. Why would a researcher want to waste time checking spelling on the fly and looking up a synonym when they are mind deep in interrogation.

Bottom line: SN is filled with tools to help a writer or researcher organize their data - that's all folks! And for the price, I can't imagine a thinker without this little gem. Give SN another try!

ANON BUD  Very Nice app. Use it mainly for research and note writing while reading texts.

One addition I would love is the ability to do internet searches of libraries so that info on texts can be automatically added, like in Bookends and Readerware. Perhaps the developer might work on this?

ROADTRIPDK  I just got this program as a trial and am quite impressed as I believe it has a lot of potential. However, as is noted in another review below, the program does not support non-Latin character sets. It also does not tap into Apple's spell checking services. Spell checking is thus limited to English and French. I contacted the company about the issue. They replied that the program is cross-platform and they had tried to avoid having to tap into Mac specific features. I would suggest that everyone interested in this software petition the company to produce an authentic Mac version that both taps into Apple's services for non-Latin character sets and Apple's spell checking services.

ANONYMOUS  I have tried out many writing programs and SuperNotecard is one of my favorites. It allows for flexibility while staying organized. I have one major complaint - it doesn't allow for any formatting. There are no bold or italic options which I find annoying. They need to fix that sometime in the near future.

USER  I love this program (and, I love the name, although I heard in an email from the company that the name will be changing).

I've used it for a novel I'm working, have not tried it for non-fiction. By far, the most useful to me it the ability to assign one, or more than one, category to each card (I use a card for each plot point).

You can then switch another view and view your cards category by category. This makes it easy (and fun) to track, say, "the love story" or "that clue with the dog."

The interface is easy on the eye, a bit clunky on my well-powered Mac, but no real problems.

It does not play nicely with SpellCatcher (if you use that), and I wish there were a way to navigate the Explorer view via keyboard.

Overall, this is my favorite writing helper. I bought it and eagerly await the next version.

YIORGOS  I downloaded the software trial (miss lonelynotes 1.1) and tried to use it for 1 week.

There is no support of other languages i am afraid.

At least not greek . I can sometimes type , sometimes not and whenever i retrieive a saved document in greek it is not understandble (y%e*??U()#@F)

Furthermore it is considerably slow in typing and in using different tools.

I hope a new version will come with fixed the above.

I would buy it if there weren't the above problems.

ANONYMOUS  Good start for a new product.

I've been looking for a research note-taking app for quite some time and this may be it.

Couple of things, though: 1) tends to get extremely slow while typing; 2) there's no ability to format text; 3) has too much of a Windows gui....

DAVID KNOEBEL  Good app. Flexible, fun, and useful. Helps you see the overall structure of your work no matter how you assemble its parts. One great feature is 'live' referencing, which automatically highlights character names, locations (or whatever you want), in the main window and displays a table with additional details in a smaller window below. Prompt responses from the support team inspire confidence.
