CYBORG9  Been using SM for quite some time now. It's absolutely and totally sublime. Never fails to soothe the savage beast in me. It's a nurturing, comforting womb to take refuge in....a true haven of tranquility in a world full of harassment. A gentle, loving, blissful massage for the psyche.

EASER  I've used this for less than 60 seconds and plan to buy it next paycheck. Although it seems to have a lot of bells and whistles (no pun intended) that appear daunting, I will read through the manual to figure it all out. This has been really relaxing. Nice program. It's like having my own personal "Hearts of Space," only without the annoying voice-overs.

I admit to being a "Hearts of Space," fan too :)

Thank you for your kind comments! The next version should be out soon. I've tried to improve the "edit" window so that it's a bit easier to understand and use. Modifying and making new Moods can be a bit daunting at first!

Cheers,

John

CTURNER  This is a terrifically useful software. The music/background sounds are relaxing, soothing and can help with studying and concentrating. They are also very useful for just relaxing. Recent updates improved functionality and user tweaking. You can adjust lots of parameters to get the effect you want or just select from the wide variety included. Developer is very responsive and friendly. Highly recommended

HELIOS9  Only those without a soul will fail to appreciate how this little gem can transform one's immediate environment into a veritable Garden of Paradise. It's absolutely breathtaking!

At $10, it's an absolute bargain. Definitely worth two or three times that price. Been using it for years, now, and it's one of the very few software programs that has definitely enhanced the quality of my life.

But it now!

IDJSTER  Truly the best relaxation software around. I've used it through a few versions and have never been disappointed that I registered it. I've had communications with the author and he's been responsive and quick to reply. While the software works 'out of the box' it has a tremendous ability for customization to one's personal tastes. Truly a great app and well worth the price!

8OO8  This outstandingly beautiful creation is a true balm for the soul. It generates soothing, centering, healing soundscapes that will enhance the quality of your life.

The developer must, indeed, be in touch with the Source of all Creation, for Sonic Moods is a true gift from On High. It glistens like a diamond lotus in the morning sun.

While Sonic Moods has been with us for a while, if you've never come across it before consider yourself blessed, for it is a true find.

This wonderful developer is always seeking ways to make it better and better, and at the paltry sum of $10, it is priceless. I humbly bow before this very gifted soul.

ANONYMOUS  I have to give this application all 5's. It serves a very useful purpose - to help you relax - and it does it well. The icing on the cake is that the developer is caring and responsive. The new feature of playing a background soundfile along with the instruments really boosts the effectiveness of the moods. It'a also highly customizable. I think no matter where you may be with your computer it can improve your environment, help you relax and even concentrate better. I recommend it highly!

ANONYMOUS  Cyberdyne, you can put the Scenes window on top of the Moods window or you can hide the Moods window by clicking its "close box". I was just trying to give the user more flexibility. You can also "zoom" the Moods window to a small size and still have the Scenes window open to any size you want. You couldn't do that before...

RULLE RUSK  Rulle Rusk here. Last year I made some comment about this app being pointless. Since then my girlfriend has left me, i lost my job and my dog died. I have moved to Miami Beach and live a quiet, tranquil on the beach with SonicMood running around the clock.

I was wrong. My apologies.

CYBERDYNE  Your girlfriend probably didn't deserve you, and bosses are like diapers, always on your ass and usualy full of s**t.

I'm sure you'll find a better job and girl, but man sorry for your dog.

(I was in your situation four month ago).

NEIL  Been there my friend, been there.

Tammy was incredible. Smart, beautiful and a rock solid faith in God. I thought she was 'The One' but after a year she didn't see it that way. Instead of just dumping me though, she had a group of our mutual friends praying for me at the moment she told me we were through.

People can deny Jesus all they like, but the peace I was given then cannot be faked or duplicated.

SonicMood - excellent program. But for true peace, go for the real deal.

ANONYMOUS  You do realize that moving is generally more expensive than a $10 shareware fee? Oh, and: Don't post reviews telling other people what kind of programs they should or should not want for their computer. It's not helpful. As if I should even have to say that.

ASHER  A REVIEW is a way in which you rate the performance of something, in this case an APPLICATION. This FORUM is for people to see if they'd like to use that application based on how well something rates in other's reviews. If you'd like to COMMENT that is a seperate pulldown menu. If you'd like to keep you myopic NYCentric view to yourself, then shut up. Other peopl may enjoy the application. And it does work flawlessly. (Please note: I've capped all the words you may wish to look up, www.hyperdictionary.com, since you obviously have an IQ far beneath the ability to read DIRECTIONS.)

DURBROW  Very nice. Developer has made progress in improving interface (although can still be tweaked a bit more). Mood sounds can be customized in great detail. Seems to be effective at least for me and my puppy. Finally developer is extremely responsive to problems and suggestions.

KATMANDU  I have worked with this developer for the last few weeks, and he is extremely open to new ideas, and VERY quick in implementing those ideas. The program works as advertised and can be customized to your own tastes. Add some pictures that you find relaxing, choose a mood, and forget about it. It runs very smoothly in the background, and helps create a very calming environment to work in. I personally love the option of showing chimes along with the pictures. This product will continue to evolve and grow, so get your ideas to the developer. Nice work!

JOHN HALL  Darren, I'm not sure what you mean by a "reverb unit". Are the sounds distorted? Or does it sound like echoing? In my testing the notes sound fine, and I haven't had complaints from registered users. But if there's a problem with some computers I want to fix it. Could you send me an email at:

johnrhall@mac.com

and maybe together we can find a fix for this problem.

Thanks!

JIMW  I am still waiting for an explanation in regards to my previous comment. In the mean time, I will keep listening to my CD's or my streaming audio stations from the internet for free, which I can capture and edit for later playback via several free products also available on MacUpdate.

JOHN  Jim, SonicMood isn't recorded music like you might find on-line.

From the web site: SonicMood provides a soothing background of melodic tones when you don't want ordinary canned music breaking your concentration.

It's more like "Mood Chimes", notes which sound as if produced by chimes blown by the wind. The patterns never repeat, are gentle and harmonious, and generally relaxing. There's 21 different sets of "chimes" using different instruments, including bells, crystals, kalimbas, glockenspiels, violins, and many others. The new version lets you add your own Moods or edit the 21 existing Moods. You won't find anything like this on a CD...

JIMW  Probably not exactly, but close enough as well as streaming, which BTW, I can record via several free tools that record streaming audio. I am sure that there are those that enjoy your product and are willing to pay for it but their are also many alternatives, many which are free and equally enjoyable, which can be explored.

GEORGE  I don't know about the earlier versions, but this app allows you to choose keys, octave ranges, instruments, pacing, etc. For those that want to do the customization this program is unbelieveable.

Of course, if you are happy with the freebies out there, then this isn't the app for you. For me, too many of the other relaxation type software solutions (or CDs for that matter) were just not to my liking as you are obliged to listen to thier choice of keys, scales, instruments and octave ranges. I like my stuff a little more somber, and this app allows me to create a custom mood to my personal preference.

I have only played with it for an hour or so but I think I will be registering this soon.

BCORBIN.COM  I absolutely love the concept. However, I think there can be some improvements. The interface would need a complete re-haul, it does not follow any UI guide lines. Also, I think if the quality of the instruments, and make the music a little more fluid would make this a complete winner.

JIMW  Please explain to me why one is willing to pay $10 for this when their are plenty of free streaming sources of similar music available for free or for $10 you can either buy a cd or burn your own from what you already own.?

THETONE  Has a funky New Age iNteRfAce, but creates some nice random soundscapes.

Non-standard command=H activates a Help screen (instead of hiding the app) -- but otherwise seems well done.

JOHN HALL  Thanks for the kind comments.

I've changed the menu so that help is invoked with Apple-? and Apple-H now hides SonicMood. I've made a few other small changes and will upload it to the web site as v1.0.2, probably later today.

I appreciate the feedback.

John.
