OUTER  Even from the Developer's AWS page only 2.0.0.2 seems to be available at this time (06:00 AM EDT 2009-10-12).

TUBO  The services work w/o any problems - thank you very much.

But downloading via ftp gives me some errors on directory listing denied - and I'm not sure if the downloaded version 2.0 is the actual as announced here (all dates are from June 19, 2009).

Greetings...

ANONYMOUS  ACP Web Services work fine on Panther, on 10.3.9, and on Tiger. As well as most other versions of OS X.

The reason you don't have a Services directory in your home area is that it is not created for you by default. But that doesn't prevent you from creating it yourself. And the system looks automatically for this directory every time your Services menu is regenerated or you reboot. It's a standard path for OS X, which is why it is put there.

As for the product 'not installing', this is quite the trick, as there is explicitly no 'install': you move the files to the locations indicated.

TODD  Haven't been able to get v 1.6 to work with Panther [running OS X 10.3.9 ]. The folder for ACP Services does not exist in any folder. The instructions given are very brief & there is no where to turn for any kind of support except here, which is why I am posting this. Would like to be able to see these services in action.

Also, how can I tell if my browser/version is 'cocoa' or not? Which browsers will it work with? [& what versions of those browsers? ]

Any response will be apreciated!!

ANONYMOUS  Dear 'not working': thank you for your helpful detailed tip. ;P

Perhaps you could see if you've installed everything at the wrong location?

'~' means 'relative to your home directory'.

It's a Unix thing.

Cheers.

EUROSCRIBE  The best got even better! Just check out the new grab-bag of services: there's something for EVERYBODY there! And it only takes a few seconds to add as many services as you want...

You can also add your own personal favorites (see "read me" page). Awesome!!

ANONYMOUS  My mistake, and thanks for taking time to answer!

For other nincompoops out there: you select the URL (not some text!), and Google will translate the page for you...

Suggestions for other services: OneLook Dictionaries (the best!), Amazon Search, some corpus search on Edict, Questia, eLibrary or some such, lyrics.astraweb.com or some other song lyric finder...

Thanks again for your great services!

ANONYMOUS  Hi Ec,

NP. Just _write_, get it? And pass on the URLs. And we can work on them. Amazon is a bit diffy as are word by word translations, as they involve 'POST's to remote sites and CGI stuff. Unnerstan? But if you have the URLs to sites where this does not apply, such as the 50 we've found, then write and pass them on - OK? Grrr!

ANONYMOUS  Good call on OneLook; it's been added!

But the package shows you how you can make these yourself - you could have tried, you know!

ANONYMOUS  Translation services are for URLs only - you're not trying to translate text in place, in an editor?
