ST00P!D M0NK3Y  I don't know what problem you guys are having, but it works perfectly for me. It opens fine, it doesn't crash, and I'm running the latest version of OS 10.5.8. I'm not a Shiira user by any means. I downloaded this out of curiosity from the comments. In fact, I'm typing in Shiira right now.

Try running Onyx on your system before installing this and see how that works. Onyx seems to fix bizarre issues of non-opening programs for me. I'm not having the dock issue problems either.

BAROQUEW  Every 6 months or so, I try to go back to Shiira and use it because it looks really impressive and neat. And then I remember why I never use it more than 5 minutes after download and then trash it. It just never works.

Now, I can't expand a window with the "+" sign: it just disappears; I can't go into the preferences either. I have a hard time picturing people migrating when the first thing they do (make window bigger anyone?) doesn't work.

Last time I tried to play with it, you couldn't run the current build if you didn't already have some older files.

I wonder what new thing will make me drop it next Christmas.

ROBOTANK  I'm glad to see that Shiira is back from the dead. It has a lovely interface and some excellent and unique features, particularly the floating bookmark and history windows, and the OmniWeb style tab thumbnail bar. I don't think Shiira is quite ready to be my default browser (it still needs some bug fixes and better control over cookies), but I will be keeping on eye on it again and hoping to see lots of improvements in the future. Also, Glimmer Blocker and ClickToFlash (neither one is an InputManagers hack) both work with Shiira, so ad and Flash blocking are now available for it, filling in what was for me a huge hole in Shiira's feature set.

IAMNOSKCAJ  This project's (perceived) current status is REALLY SAD. The first iteration of Shiira REALLY impressed me. I used it ALL THE TIME. Granted it had some bugs, which were never really fixed, but I used it FULL TIME. Then v2 came out, and I was floored. They had done it again. They turned the browsing world UPSIDE DOWN with their ideas -- but unfortunately the project seems to have died.

I'm going to investigate whether this is opensource. I know it uses the WebKit engine (which is the rendering engine that Safari uses). At least the engine is opensource, but I'm hoping the entire project is.

If ANYONE knows ANYTHING about this project's status, PLEASE reply to this comment.

THANKS!!!!

When it´s true, it´s really sad. Shiira has a gorgeous interface and some unique features.

But it´s a big buggy, especially on Leopard. I would use it again when they fix the problem with the bookmarks.

I really like a lot of the unique features of this browser. It seems fast, too.

The UI is somewhat uneven, however.

Some of the as yet unavailable preferences are needed, and it seems a bit ridiculous for this to be referred to as version 2.2 when i encountered several significant UI bugs in just 20 minutes or so of use.

I've experimented with it through several versions but it's just never been stable enough to use on a regular basis, especially when Camino is so stable even in nightly builds.

MARK EVERITT  I'm currently using this as my default browser. I don't really bother with bookmarks except for a few on the bookmarks bar, so that doesn't really bother me. My one issue is that find doesn't appear to work, and that could be a deal breaker. If you can get that to work, then this is perfect for me! Thanks for a neat browser.

IKEY  I *want* to make this my default browser, but the bugs forbid me from doing so! No random crashes, but the bookmark system doesn't work and it will crash when I move around bookmarks that I have imported. This should be Shiira 2 ver .2 ,not ver 2.2 .

JERRY KRINOCK  Maybe Ikey or someone who has been playing around with Shiira's bookmarks can help me out.

Ikey mentioned "importing" bookmarks. I don't see any way to do that. There is certainly no 'Import Bookmarks' item in the File menu. Maybe Ikey used some other utility?

I notice that Shiira's Bookmarks Panel (the black thing) shows "Shiira" bookmarks, only but when you click the other button at the bottom and show shiira://shelf, then you get several collections to choose from: "Safari Bookmarks", "Firefox Bookmarks" and "Bookmarks". The latter seems to be a "smart" collection that shows Safari+Firefox+Shiira bookmarks. Very confusing. Can anyone explain this better?

And here's the question that's got me REALLY stumped: How would you ever delete a bookmark or a bookmark folder? It seems like there should be a way to do that, but I sure can't find it. If there is no way to delete bookmarks, lots of Shiira users must have lots of bookmarks!

Finally, I clicked on Shiira's Forum on their site,

http://g.shiira.jp/groups/list/1

but I get a blank page, even when using Shiira. Does anyone know if there's a trick to accessing Shiira's Forum?

JERRY KRINOCK  After playing with Shiira for over an hour, I finally figured out how to delete a bookmark or folder. After clicking the funny button with two horizontal lines in it at the bottom of the cool black panel to show the "shiira://shelf", select the item(s) you want to delete and then right-click to show the contextual menu which has Delete. Although you can move items in the black panel, you can't delete.

But I can't figure out how to rename a bookmark or folder.

I can't figure out why so many people rate software 1 star because it doesn't work for them, personally.

You don't think the fact that other people aren't having the same problem doesn't suggest it might be something about your setup, permissions, etc?

How about a troubleshooting comment instead of rating it as crap when you haven't even seen it.

TUISHIMI  I hate to sound like a broken record, but they STILL have not fixed basic functionality of a web browser, like bookmarking. I can't bookmark, I can't browse. It's useless, as pretty as it is, it is useless.

FYI each time I try a new version, I remove all related files from application support and preferences.

I don't understand what they are thinking here. They are going to discourage their user base.

I am giving all very low ratings for this because they apparently don't care about functionality, but only about glitz.

HOTFREAKS  I'm not sure how the developers can call this a release. This is beta, if not alpha software. Its not even clear how to rename a bookmark folder. How about adding an RSS feed to the feed HUD. I tried for 10 minutes, and could not successfully add one. Tooltips dont seem to be working.

This is a promising browser, but you need to put a little more work into software before you release it.

INTELLECT INSIDE   watch out...

Keep your old version of Shiira for now. The new version is buggy and not feature-complete.

One thing it's missing, which was immediately noticable, is the old version's ability to scale large images to fit the window. This is especially needed in the new Shiira with its huge thumbnail tabs dock.

I'll be using old Shiira for now...

TREASONS  I had high hopes when I downloaded this app. It looks beautiful and has a unique approach to tabbed viewing. But it is completely unusable, little more than a tease. After working an hour to add folders to the toolbar, a task complicated by serious bugs, all the folders were gone the next time I launched the app.

Neither will it remember passwords for frequently visited sites.

I would like to see this app. when it's done, but right now it's not even worthy of beta status.

TOMIS  The interface include several innovate features. But this is offset by numerous bugs throughout the program. And it doesn't play WMV files even though I have Flip4Mac installed and Safari plays them fine!

Additionally they don't use tooltips at all in this program. This over-sight really needs to be corrected. Proper tooltip usage can replace the need for a help system.

This is definitely a beta release, not worthy of a 2.0 final release. Go back to the drawing board with this one guys.

TUISHIMI  Using WebKit it is pleasingly quick and renders nicely. The application itself is (IMO of course) well laid out, and being an omniweb user I like the thumbail tabs.

But my joy ends there as many of the preferences do not work and I cannot manage my bookmarks. There are also visual glitches that occur in the bookmarks shelf window. Really, if I could just manage my bookmarks I'd be willing to try using it more often.

It should promise, but I don't know why this would even be considered anything other than late alpha, early beta quality.

JBARNES  I've been a shiira user for some time now, constantly checking up on the new beta's for 2.0. Unfortunately what is marked here is not a final 2.0. Numerous preferences are still disabled, buggy etc. In fact, as numerous people in Shiira forums point out, some of the available nightly builds are more fleshed out than what is being offered as a non-beta 2.0. Lots of promise, but still not implemented in full. However, it is even quicker than its 1.2.3 sibling (newer version of webkit?). Promises to be a 5-star showing if it gets all the new features working

OCEANELEMENT  Shiira 2.0b1 looks great. Understandably, since it's still in the beta phase there is unstability. Aside from that the features and creativity put into this browser is amazing. GAOSHAN  Neat! The graphics of this beta's user interface are beyond anything else available (except for certain elements of WebKit nightlies). The shelf, pagedock, privacy features and HUD panels (click on the History button to see a HUD panel) are really cutting edge. Love it! Aside from Safari it is the only other real web browser that has the cocoa/aqua feel to it. Really feels like a Mac program.

Be aware that this is a real beta. Many things don't function or don't function like they should. If you want a smooth browsing experience, get the stable version. However, if you want a sneak peek at your birthday present, check out this beta.

Note that in my review, the only reason this doesn't get a solid 5 stars is because it is a beta and simply cannot have a 5 in Stability.

THEVALRUS  Gorgeous, for sure, but Haplo has some good points. The page dock is better in theory than in practice, due to the massive amount of space it takes up at the bottom of the page. Perhaps if it were transparent and the page could be seen behind it...? I don't know.

Also, no bookmark bar; instead, I have to use this panel thing. It looks nice, but it takes me a hell of a lot longer to get to bookmarks in folders that were in Safari's bookmark bar.

I'm always eager to try a new version of Shiira, but it seems like they sacrificed a lot of usability in this one.

HAPLO  Ok, firstly as much as I like the new interface, it's way too big and bulky. The page dock is cool, but both the dock and the tab bar are now about double or quadruple in size from the original. One thing that makes or breaks a browser is how much screen space it gives you for actually viewing the page. Now if you're running a freaking 30" screen the new interface would be great since you have more screen space than a page would use anyway, but for my little 14" iBook this is fairly horrid. Also, there's a good two inch thick bar below the main toolbar that seems to do absolutely nothing. Yes, you can collapse the dock, but the status bar below is also pretty intrusive, and you really don't get much space with this.

Secondly, full screen looks nice but is highly nonfunctional. The draggable Quicktime-esque control bar is kinda nice but there needs to be a better way to show/hide it, to make it smaller (ie small icons) and to include an address bar so it can actually work.

Overall, even for a beta, just assessing the new layout, it's really too much superfluousness and not enough function.

KAYBEANO  I really want to use Shiira but I can't, and don't know why. Every version I try higher than 1.0 simply won't open: I get the lovely brushed metal frame, no page load, and the spinning wheel of death. At first I thought this was because I use Gmail as my homepage, but it makes no difference what I use (I was able to change the homepage in 1.0 and then experiment with higher versions). Is this my computer? I'm using a G3/OSX 10.4.7.

No success in getting in touch with the developers.

It *looks* great, and seems to blend the best of Safari with the best of OmniWeb. But so far, this does nothing for me, since it won't bloody work anyway.

KAYBEANO  Sorry! I figured it out. The page turning animation isn't supported on my machine, but there was no way to turn it off because it was the default position, and as soon as it tried to load a page--spinning ball of death. So what I had to do was revert to v1.0, set the homepage as blank and new pages as blank. Then I downloaded 1.2.2 again, and it picked up the changes from 1.0, and didn't try to open anything as a homepage. This enabled me to get it running at leastm and then I could go into the preferences and turn the page animation feature off. After that it worked like a charm.

Given the intricacy of what I had to do to get this to work, I'd say it was a serious bug. But I'm using it now.

IGABE  Absolutely amazing.

Try it. I've used OmniWeb & Firefox & Safari extensively, also used Camino and Opera. Shiira is the first browser I've used on the Mac where I keep saying "WOW, they did it right! Why is safari not like this!?" in my head _almost every day_.

Please, try it.

P.S. I personally found that changing the User Agent (in Shiira's preferences) to Safari makes the browser much more stable. Try it, you'll see... a whole lot less crashing, at least on my Mac OS 10.3.9 Powerbook G4.

DOC RENAUD  The best web browser for my needs. Not bloated but with very good features.

Load pages faster than Safari, is more stable, have an elegant interface, with the possibility to customise it.

I especialy love the handy side drawer.

One request: Would it be possible to add an ads blocker, like PithHelmet ?

i really like this program. I thought camino was as good as it gets, and never really thought to try this.

it is so fast: loads quicky, loads tabs quickly, browses the internet quickly despite the lack of http pipelining (which i agree should be added), and even closes quickly

it has a standard interface that can be customized easily.

its really stable

renders pages well

my only problems are: that there are no spacers in the bookmark bar, and its kind of a hassle to get the bookmarks to work(convert to safari, then safari to firefox, then to shiira) because of no easily found import

BIRTY  I now use Shiira 95% of the time now, it used to be 50% Safari and Camino.

Page load performance is exactly the same as Safari (Shirra uses WebKit), but Shiira is as stable is a ROCK and the UI is faster. Wow.

The features are many and are great, but it's Keychain access seems to be a bit premature.

Camino is a lot faster loading pages, (HTTP Pipelining), too bad Shiira/WebKit doesn't support Pipelining.

SHADOWNIGHT  I think Shiira is the best browser. The features are so well implemented, the interface is pleasing, clean and smooth. It has very innovative features, just download it to realize that. This is an application that makes you realize how badly the other browsers have been doing things for years. Innovative is the word to describe Shiira. It feels similar to Safari, but so much smarter.

I really encourage you to download it and take it for a psin, you have to use it to realize how good it is. There are a number of bugs or glitches, but really nothing to annoy you daily. Go ahead and see what you've been missing.

CHROME  Well, i was to fast with my happy review because the textencoding-problem still exists.

The strange thing is, sometimes it works and sometimes i had to set it manually to ISO Latin 1 on the same site.

If i do that directly after starting shiira in the preferences the most sites are shown correctly.

I think the developer have to fix this soon because it nerves a lot.

TEXSPLEEN  I've been using Shiira as my main browser almost since it came out and have had few problems with it. Although I have turned off the Page Transition effect

(which I suspect may cause shiira to crash from time to time?). It's a terrific browser, especially the sidebar feature. I'm also a wrap for the icon preferences which allow you to change icons and the look from metal to aqua. One thing that could be improved is the password management. The keychain access method used by Safari is far more stable and reliable.

Maybe the Developers can build improved password management into Shiira in a future release (a-la-firefox). Overall I highly recommend this browser.

If you like Safari you should enjoy Shiira.

DEBTMAN7  Great browser. I'd like to say it's ideal, it's not, but it may win me out anyway. I switched to firefox about a year ago because safari 1.2 was getting to be a dog. I was relatively pleased. I've been happy with firefox until I tried out Safari 2.0 and Shiira. Now it's just all confusing...

I like Shiira because it's fast. That may be the deciding factor. Shiira has a VERY responsive UI. It never seems to stall or hang, and I never really get a spinning beachball. Safari 2.0 still gives me the beachball and hangs on occasion. Shiira is definately faster than firefox in the UI department, having grown used to the 1-2 second delay in doing something with firefox, Shiira still amazes me with the responsiveness.

What don't I like? It crashes on me more than firefox, which I have found to be rock solid. It does not have all the features I want and is not extensible like firefox. I miss form filling. I miss neat extensions that let me control iTunes in the browser, display the weather, block ads, add map bookmarks to google maps, etc etc. For now, shiira will probably be my main browser because of the sheer speed, but I'll still use firefox for sites where extensions make a difference.

If firefox ever gets a UI as responsive as shiira, well I'll be all over it...

ANONYMOUS  Some excellent strides forward here. PithHelmet 2.5.2 does work with Shiira 1.1 (albeit only on Mac OS X 10.4.x). Some functions could be better implemented - e.g. it can read Safari and Firefox bookmarks, but it won't write to them; it crashes when trying to save a new bookmark if Safari bookmarks are enabled. The "Bookmarks Bar" setting for Shiira/Safari/Firefox won't stay on Firefox. The tab expose is neat, but very slow (OmniWeb keeps thumbnails in a drawer, which seems to be faster). Nice little touches like "Print Document as a PDF."

DAVID LE PAGE  Shiira is a very promising piece of software, with superb functionality.

Thank you very much for making it available for Panther.

Unfortunately, I still find myself returning to Safari, for reasons which would be very simple to sort out in Shiira: they are simply matters of GUI design.

The URI bar in Shiira is too narrow, so more uncomfortable to read.

The Search field is not long enough, so it's more difficult to see what has been typed there.

And for reasons which are beyond me, the fonts used in the Shiira GUI look thin and ratty, whereas Safari's are solid, well-rounded and comfortable to read.

Sort these things out, and I suspect you'll pull a lot more users.

I've nagged Apple for a couple years now to give users of older systems access to updates to Safari. Shiira does this!

Also:

- Tab Expose - way cool!

- HTML source - nice touch with colored code and DOM structure viewer

- adjustable search bar

- access to Safari and Firefox bookmarks

- I can choose which search engine I want or add my own

- private browsing!

- cache management - cool!

- simple sidebar for bookmarks rather than a page that changes like in Safari

Woohoo! Nice job!

It has really been modeled after Safari 2.0 on Tiger with it's Private Browsing and Favicons features et al.

Plug-ins invoke within the browser flawlessly, Shockwave and Flash play much faster and more fluid than on Safari and certainly Camino. I am truly impressed by the speed, as side by side by side with Camino and Safari, Shiira outperforms them all in page rendering and plug-in performance. Add the Keychain Access and fix some aesthetics and I would actually pay good money for this over the freebies, and I am a greedy black duck!

BRANDON B  In one word....FINALLY!

Shiira is a browser that finally combines the speed and stability of Mozilla's Firefox browser with the beauty and functionality of Safari and Camino.

The most noticible feature about this browser is that it is FAST, FAST, FAST! It especially beats Safari in the area of loading multiple tabs without stalling or slowing to nothing. This could possibly be the fastest browser I have ever used.

The keyboard commands and interface are near identical to Safari and bookmarks can be imported from Safari. It feels very natural to switch to Shiira from Safari.

Overall this is one kickin' browser! Highly recomended for it's speed and friendly interface!

3818  One very nice, fast, stable and (fairly) complete, browser for the Mac! Superb GUI, theme and icon sets! A real pleasure to use. In my opinion it needs the following to make it an EXCELLENT browser:

1. Autofill/Autocomplete for web forms

2. Autofill for passwords & logons

3. Incorporation of the Mac spellchecker for text boxes

4. The ability to Edit Safari bookmark items when used in Shiira.

Safari access all my secure https websites, brokerage banking, et al without having to enable the Debug menu and change the user agent. Unfortunately doing so does no good to the statistics that are kept as to which browser is accessing the websites in general, it gets skewed Microsoft IE 6's way, and who needs that!

PETER DA SILVA  The one thing that keeps me using Gecko browsers (Camino, Firefox) instead of Webkit browsers (Shiira, Safari) is Flashblock. Does anyone know of any equivalent of the Flashblock extension (Firefox Flashblock Extension, Camiflash) for Webkit browsers like Shiira?

If you don't know what Flashblock is, it's a brilliant tool that doesn't actually prevent Flash from running, it just defers it until you click on the flash icon inside the outline of the applet. This is much better than blocking flash with a proxy because it lets you run the flash applet when you want... and not run it when you don't.

Just Google for "block ads safari" or go to http://www.efritz.net/safaritricks.html and download the CSS. Store the file wherever you want on the hard drive, go to Safari or Shiira's Preferences, Advanced, Style Sheet and browse for the file...wa-la! Adblocking. You don't have the customization you get with Adblock in Firefox or Camino ExtraPrefs, but you CAN get that using Pith Helmet, available here on MU.

Shiira has knocked Safari down to third... and steps up close to OW that draw man.. wow...i love it! LOL downloads history etc etc. compact cocoa. That's the way it should be nice. These three browsers display CSS better than the others (more w3c compliant) Shiira is also fast... which gives it its bite, again on omniweb. But Safari's coming out with RSS... hmm... Nice place to be. Shiira rose up to be a beautiful and feature rich browser... have i mentioned that it's fast? Feels very responsive.

2 things that have bothered me.

1. I use "Speed Download" and I don't know how to get Shiira to talk to "SD." Right now; Shiira is not allowing any downloads. I'd use it as mayu default browser, if I could get this to work.

2. How does one edit the imported Safari bookmarks? Not a big thing, but curious.

ANONYMOUS  This browser may become a serious contender for Mac fans in a hurry. It caters to developers by not using a proprietary engine, and it has a wider range of features and looks than Camino. JFM  I have suddenly come across one serious problem: while most password-protected webpages work fine, several ones just don't open, although they open without any trouble in other browsers.

For instance, when I attempt to access online my Diners Club account, I get an error message. Same thing happens when I attempt to access those of my websites managed through Cpanel: either error message, or just endless waiting for a page which never opens (while it opens instantly in other browser). Moreover, when that problem occurs, then it seems to prevent any other page to open, unless one closes Shiira and opens it again.

It would be a good idea if people with similar problems could report them. After all, the application is still at a beta stage, it is normal there are some bugs left before they come to 1.0. But such bugs will prevent me from using Shiira as my primary browser until they are solved.

JFM  Nice interface, works well and fast. But when I attempted to export the bookmarks of URL Manager Pro to Shiira (the latest version of URL Manager Pro offers the option), then Shiira would instantly quit each time I would attempt to open it! I had to put Shiira in the trash and reinstall. Probably this is a problem with URL Manager Pro, not with Shiira.

Not too much a problem, since one can also access Safari bookmarks in the drawer. However, when clicking on the arrow for showing a list or subcategories of bookmarks, the list opens significantly slower than in other browsers.

Probably a future release will improve that. Overall experience is pleasant. But if they really want to make it better than Safari, they should still include a few items which Safari is missing, for instance the ability to include URL and date when printing a page (possible to do it with Safari Extender, but only for pages in English and other non accented languages, otherwise the result is garbled). I hope that Shiira will consider this addition - a browser on a good way, no doubt, and which I might consider using as ma primary browser if there are further improvements.

W. ERNST  Shiira is definitely a 'better' version of Safari. Fast, reliable and rock solid in Panther. Nice and clean functionality and v1.0 will have RSS. It also does a very good job with Javascript. I have seen heavy javascript sites not render properly, in Mozilla and it's two sisters, Camino and Firefox. Forget IE 5.. It is dead in our Mac world. I am currently testing Omniweb 5.1 b3 so I'm not sure how Omniweb behaves. Previous versions crash periodically and have a tough time with Java Applet rendering & handling. HUWR  I like the way that it doesn't lock up like Safari does. Also, I like the way it doesn't haul 20% of my CPU when it's in the background. Well done, guys.

ANONYMOUS  Nice browser. Tried it because Safari has been sluggish and sometimes unresponsive and I really like it.

For me the choice is now between Shiira and Camino (I think Camino is the best but Shiira is also a solid browser).

ANONYMOUS  Extremely fast. Less stable than Safari, but quite usable. Nice job on the easy open/close tabs! So when will it be able to handle proxy servers? Keep up the good work.

PICOSTAR  I believe you can use proxies already. The settings for the proxies are in Network of System Prefs, and if you don't believe me, try clicking on the Proxy settings button in Safari Prefs.

DAVEYJJ  Superb. Mac-user since 1985 switches from Safari to Shiira. Works on my banking site, extremely fast, small footprint, customizable. No problems at all including testing my own major CSS sites. Excellent, excellent program. Highly recommended.

SOY  This certainly has promise - but I'm having the no preferences problem as well, so it's hard to give it a grade w/o even knowing what it can all do. I hope a fix for this is released very soon - I'm quite anxious to rev this puppy up to full speed.

ANONYMOUS  Goodness me. This browser has one or two features that Safari doesn't, but it's so cool becuase it's so fast. It's odd that another developer can use WebKit to create a browser that is so much faster than Safari.

RYAN  I am surprised at how polished this browser is. You can tell a lot of work went into it. I suggest giving this browser a try- The icon changing ability is really easy and works well.

I hope that full-screen browsing is added in the future, also an advertisment blocker (eg image blocker) would be nice as well as a cookie manager that lets me allow/deny site cookies.

I'd say this browser already has surpased Safari in features, and I look forward to seeing what new ideas the developers come up with!

SUSPICIOUS 2  Since I'm getting an alert from Little Snitch each time Shiira opens---an alert that never comes up with any other browser---I, also, want to know what was asked below: Why is Shiira pinging an IP address for every request? Until the developer (or someone else) offers a convincing explanation, I'm not using this browser again.

NANASHI  Shiira is Web Browser. Web Browser visits every web sites. So Web Browser needs privileges "Allow Any Connection" and "Allow Forever" by Little Snitch. Shiira is Web Browser.

MATSU  Supplementary explanation: Having Little Snitch installed, you know what the software does, don't you? Quoting from its web site:

When an application tries to establish a network connection, Little Snitch intercepts the attempt and brings up an alert panel...

Well, what can a web browser do without establishing a network connection? I suggest setting up a rule in the Snitch preferences that allows Shiira any network action.

ANONYMOUS  This is the best browser I have used on the Mac... and considering there are no good browsers or anything on Windows... this is the best browser I have ever used! It incorporates all the tiny things I personally find useful in browsers. It's really quick and easy to create/close tabs (there's a + button to create a new tab in the tab bar itself to create a new tab, so you don't have to go through menus or even up to the toolbar.), you can re-arrange tabs how you want just by dragging them like you do with icons in the dock, there's lots of different icons you can use in the toolbar, bookmarks are arranged in a sidebar where you can also look through the history, and loaddsss of little things like that that makes it a really good browser. Hope this browser starts to get more attention...it's the best browser on any platform IMO!

ANONYMOUS  Actually, we do have a fully-skinnable browser. Two of them in fact. They're called Mozilla and Firefox, and they're living proof that while the skin concept works well for small interfaces like MP3 players, it does not scale to anything nearly as large and complex as a browser.

ANONYMOUS  Skinnable interfaces don't even work all that well for MP3 players. Get the thing done using the native GUI first, then worry about making it skinnable.

[Apple: that goes for iTunes as well ... and the new Finder ... you built this wonderful GUI structure in Mac OS X, why not use it? If you want new features, add them to the framework so everyone can use them!]

ANONYMOUS  I downloaded it and used it today and I don't know what's so special about it. Yes it works and really, it's a nice browser but just HOW different is it from Safari? Plus the icon for it is a little... strange. The name of it too doesn't sound like a browser either... of course I have no suggestions there.

Though I say those things - I'd like to see development continue on it. I will be back to try it again when it has something on it that is 'special'.

ANONYMOUS  Really awesome. Needs a bit of work (the loading widget isn't factored into tab size when you limit the tab size to the size of the string...the bookmarks in the bookmark bar take up too much space...it's a bit slower than Safari) - but an AWESOME release :) Go Shiira.
