MAC0852  Version 2.07b works superbly on my Intel macpro with my old UD 12 tablet and keyspan USB to serial adapter, I even wrote this review using Inkwell! The software still lacks some features ofered by the Wacom softwarer and required a little adjustment of the settings beffore I was happy, but this is still beta software and as such works extremely well. Aftcr upgrading I had a problem with the deamon hanging but restarting appears to have fixed this. Considering Wacom's lack of support for non USB tablets, this is a godsend.

SINDBAD THE SEAFARER  the TM 2.x series is a great step ahead !

again i'm very grateful for all the efforts the developer has been and will be (see todo list) putting into this ongoing project.

it's a very good result we are presented with in vs. 2.ob1, for the lazy ones it even suffices to accept the automatic tablet detection setting !

thousand thanks to Scott Lahteine !

SINDBAD THE SEAFARER  big praise to the developer, Scott Lahteine !!!

this latest intermediate release 1.0b8 (as i understand it) brings tablet control back to Tiger (10.4.6).

just open and quit the application, no settings, the daemon gets triggered and the tablet is accessible even on both of my monitors.

Scott, thanks a lot(t) ;-)

ANONYMOUS  I'm guessing the developer has, apparently, stopped development of this software due to lack of support... by that I mean either help in the actual coding of the app or donations.

Maybe if you contact the developer directly via email you can get some info and maybe encourage the developer to continue coding this software.

ZHMMY  I look forward to the full development of TabletMagic. The program seems to me to be about 60% complete.

At least it is able to see my Wacom UD1212R and I was actually able to move the cursor around, albeit very unpredictably. However, I was not able to utilize it as an actual tool.

I was going to sell my tablet on eBay, but now I think I will wait awhile longer to see if more progress is made. I hope the author is not on an extended vacation because I really miss using the Wacom.

The panel where you set your tablet and monitor sizes does not work properly. There is no way to set the pressure, speed or resolution for the stylus, even though there are panels for such things.

I would be happy to pay a shareware price for this software if it worked properly. I wish Apple would get their heads out of their "dark place" and help people develop programs that benefit their customers.

THOMAS  So near, it seems tom make it work in OS X 10.3.5...

Have a Intious A3 tablet. GD-1212-R.

Experiences with TabletMagic 1.0b7.:

1. Contact with the tablet: identifies "GD-1212-R00 Version 1.2-7".

Don't know how to setup the parameters???...

"WACOM IV" seems to give pressure data.

"WACOM II-S" seems to give correct feedback on the event.

All speeds seems to work.

But, the Daemon seems to crasch/not launch when I quit TabletMagic.

--

have Mac OS X 10.3.5. all patches.

In companion with a Keyspan USA-28X.

(The same hardware works perfectly in OS9.2.2 with the latest Wacom drivers.)

Any hints?

What to expect with this tablet model (GD)?

OPTIMISTIC  If you can produce an ADB support for ArtZ II tablet on Mac OS 10.3 or above w/ the iMate... You'd be a GOD!

My tablet that was one year old when Wacom Fultered on us all, has been in storage for 4 years now. Would love to use it again someday.

Thank you.

SCOTT LAHTEINE  Apologies to those who are still waiting for the ADB driver. It's taking longer than expected, but I still anticipate reasonable success.

For those for whom the mouse pointer didn't move, the cause may have been a failing daemon. Beta 3 arrives in a day or two, and it will address this issue. It has been much more reliable for me.

This is an open source project. Contributors of all kinds are encouraged to get involved, especially those of you with SourceForge accounts. Seeking help with IOKit "data providing" and the ADB component of Mac OS X. Do you have an ADB tablet I can borrow?

Thanks for all your interest and support! - Scott

HOPEFUL  Scott,

First of all, thanks for all of your efforts and work. I'm happy to see that my UD-1212-R has a chance of working in OSX.

Secondly, I managed to get it to work, though it's not perfect yet. The main issue is that it lacks the finese of pressure sensitivity.

After downloading and installing the driver, and downloading/updating the software for the Keyspan USA-28X, my system recognized the tablet. Hooray. Definitely a step in the right direction. And, it functions with the Finder, Photoshop CS, and contrary to what I read it also functions with Painter 8.

For your info, I'm running OSX (10.3.9), on a PowerBook G4, Photoshop CS, Painter 8. I've been playing with different Settings for Photoshop and Painter, as they seem to function a little better with different settings. I have screen shots of my settings if you'd like them.

Basically, TableMagic is working great except for a few minor tweaks. One being that "Run Faster" when launching Terminal will not let me enter m administrator password (not a big deal, cuz it all seems to be running fast enough). The only issue that I'm seeing is an inconsistency of the pressure sensitivity settings in the two programs (Photoshop CS and Painter 8). Meaning that, if I made the same pressured stroke with a brush, it will be thin one time and thick the next.

I'll keep testing different settings, to see if it makes a difference, and will let you know if I find a solution.

In the meantime, please keep up the great work. I, like others, would be willing to pay for a solution to get our Wacom Tablets working in OSX.

Thanks, Mike

SEX MONEY DRUGS  Scott Lahteine rocketh my free world.

I bought an iBook 500 right when OS X was coming out, also bought an iMate to work with my Wacom tablet - and then found out Wacom was screwing everyone.

Scott, you should contact Griffin and find out if they might toss some money your way - their iMate sells would go through the roof if you could get the ADB tablets to work with your program.

If you check eBay, the old tablets are being sold dirt cheap. Snap one up while you can.

What was old is becoming new again.

Thank you, Scott! God speed on this project!

MSADESIGN  Oh I have such warm and fuzzy feelings towards this programmer-- I can't trust myself in the same room with him...

Everything works except the pen won't make the mouse move- which I believe will be essential. I mean the UD1212 sees the driver, and vice-versa, but I cannot get the pen to move the cursor.

nonetheless the fact that someone is working on this is so great...
