SBCHAVEL It's really nice to be able to see the mailbox by mailbox breakdown. Clicking on a specific mailbox in the drop-down menu should open that mailbox in Mail.app; likewise, clicking a particular email should open that email in Mail.app. Instead, either action opens up a preview pane that includes all the new emails in a single list. Checking the Growl preference brings up all the new emails in Growl but each one needs to be closed mechanically rather than close automatically after a fixed time. If you get tens of emails, this can be tedious. "Set mailboxes" should probably be renamed "Preferences," although that is not entirely accurate either, since the preview of unread emails list is accessed in that window as well. The number in the menubar does not match what I see in Mail.app. Maybe the name could be replaced by a less unwieldy one. (Version 0.6.6)

TUISHIMI This just does not work for me. Mac OS X 10.5.2 on an Intel iMac. I load my mailboxes with messages, start this thing up (set to check server) click on update... nothing. I try off-and-on for 5 minutes, nothing. I start mail... loads all the messages that this app should have told me were there to be read. (Version 0.6.1b)

HENRIKTEKNIK I have the same problem as you did; simply doesn't work for me. Doesn't even open when I double click the program icon. And the manual is somewhat confusing to read. Do you happen to have any advice as to get it working? (Version 0.5)

DOC RENAUD At last ! A menu bar that doesn't check only my Inbox maibox, but all the boxes I created. All other similar apps I tried were useless for me. Thanks so much ! (Version 0.4.6)

SIMI CHAVEL This wonderful little app allows to see not only the number of unread messages in your IN box, but also those in any mailbox to which messages go automatically via your rules. It sits on your menubar, and can show the total number of new messages. Click on the menubar, and you see how many in each of the mailboxes. Preferences allow you to determine which mailboxes it checkes and how often it should do so. Doing without it seems pointless. Recommended feature: ability to open a new mail message from within the menubar item. Stability: In the past few updates, the app has begun quitting itself or hanging. But I do not yet have 0.4.5, only 0.4.4 (router downloading problems), so this may have been fixed. iBook G3 / OS 10.3.9 (Version 0.4.5)

ADRIAN i have been using this app for a few days now, and it is close to being a really great and usefull app. my thoughts are that it's pretty much useless unless it can operate while mail is closed. either through somehow importing the accounts from mail(automatically please?) or becoming a mail.app plugin. Bug: It also fails to open any mail windows from the dropdown menu whether mail is open closed or minimised. Otherwise very promising (Version 0.4.3)

ANONYMOUS The point is, you can see how many emails you have of a certain kind instantly. This is not possible with Mail without bringing the whole thing to the front. The dock does not tell you how many emails have arrived if they have been moved from the inbox by a rule. (Version 0.4.3)

TRIX I'm not quite sure what the point of this app is, since Mail.app does exactly the same thing without taking up space in the menu bar or having an extra app running. (Version 0.4.3)

ANONYMOUS There was a time when I was desperate for software like this, but when Apple finally added a Dock menu to Mail.app (starting in Jaguar) that lets you check your mail, I think the Dock icon does everything I want. I'm not making any comment about this particular software, just the field in general. (Version 0.3)

MACMAN REVIEW Really nice little program this. Look forward to seeing it once it's out of the beta stage. Queusoft always comes up with usefull stuff - keep up the good work. Pity about the cheap developer below trying to cash in his own software by critisising this application. (Version 0.3)

SOFTWARE TESTER Seems to be ok, but MailTicker is better. MailTicker is free, it notifies you when mail arrives with scrolling message on the menu bar (very cool indeed), with or without sound. It allows you to check and delete mail directly from your server without running your mail application (any mail application). The best of all, you can use it from OS9 all the way up, but this MailUnreadStatusBar is only for OS 10.3 Download the MailTicker and take a test run. (Version 0.2)

DANA SUTTON It's a great idea, I've been waiting years for a utility that does exactly this. But this version (which, to judge by its number, is still a beta) is not quite ready for prime time. When I go to Prerences>Set, I am given a choice between a few mailboxes in which I archive stuff, but my In-box is not on the menu as an option, although this is the only one I would conceivably want to check! I look forward to later versions. (Version 0.2)

JOHNSMITH Thank you! You would think Apple would have thought of this already?! As much as I like this little app I do have a couple of suggestions. It might be nice to have differenet icons to choose from instead of the small Mail App icon. When the red dot appears it would be nice if it told you how many messages are unread (much like the mail app) An "add to login items" would be a useful preference for those who are not familiar with the system. The one major item that would be super useful, would be to have the mailboxes show up in the menu so you can go from the menu to mail with on click. With that said each mailbox would show you how many messages are unread in each box. These are just suggestions but hopefully will be taken into consideration. (Version 0.1)
