Intech;

I have spent quite a bit of time researching how to get my Gigabit PowerMac to see the full size of my larger than 129GB drives. Your product was named multiple times and I looked into it. It has been around for quite a few years and is being used on a very large cross section of Mac models. Over the years there have been some complaints (what on earth has never been complained about?).

I'm writing to say I have;

Paid for the product, without problem

Downloaded the file, without problem

Unzipped and copied the file to my drive, without problem

Installed the drivers, without problem

(160GB Seagate Barracuda and 320GB Western Digital Caviar drives via motherboard connection)

I boot into Tiger 10.4.11, Panther 10.3.9, Jaguar 10.2.8, all on separate partitions of the same drive

I also boot into OS 9.2.2 on a second drive

I have cloned all my volumes and am able to boot to all clones, without problem

(using, CCC 3.1, and Disk Utility "Restore")

and everything works perfectly!

I hope the boards with the negative feedback about your product would take a moment and review the dates of the complaints and "clean up" their posts.

This product works exactly as described.

OELMUVUN  I have used this with my PowerMac G4 AGP Graphics (Sawtooth)'s 250GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 since January 2007 when it's 120GB Samsung failed with no issues whatsoever, even when first using it. I did have to boot off it's secondary 80GB HD to partition my 250GB though as I had no bootable CDs with the ATA Hi-Cap driver installed. An external FireWire or USB device would have worked too.

My sister also uses this on her Gigabit Ethernet G4 and she has both 250GB and 500GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 and she has had no issues at all.

Because of the success of my efforts with this driver I am considering replacing my Sawtooth's 80GB with another Barracuda, preferably 500GB or larger.

And yes, I _have_ to brag, This is my Sawtooth in all it's glory (taken 4.4.07):

And here are the specs:

1Ghz 7455 (64k L1, 256k L2, 2MB L3), PowerMac G4 AGP Graphics (Sawtooth), 1.19GB RAM, Radeon 7000 64MB DDR PCI (183|234)/Rage 128 Pro 16MB AGP (225|137), 250GB 'cuda/80GB WDC, Matshita SR-8585F/Creative CD5233E, Mac OS 10.4.10/9.2.2

480w Demon Silver Chrome (ATX)/200w Mirage (AT)

ATX server case (6x 5.25"/3x 3.5")

17" DELL D1028L CRT @ 1600x1024/15" ACANA Pro 15Sp CRT @ 1280x1024

Technics SU-V6X amp (100w per chan)+60w car spks/Yamaha YST-M7

To recap, if you know what you are doing it is less than a snap to get this thing working flawlessly. The instructions were fine imo and it has never caused any issues. to this day my HDs and my sister's HDs remain problem free. (I do whole system diagnostics a minimum of once per month.)

DAVID MORRISON  Have been using it for over 12 months on a G4/450DP with 200GB ATA disk. There were a couple of quirks when I first installed it that wer not mentioned in the documentation. (It actually seemed as though they had not come across the problem before. If you want to install it on a new system, make sure you have the software in a folder - a disk image will not mount!)

*½...

FRONTPAGE  Have this driver, and tried to reformat a 160GB drive, which had a 128GB cap on it inside my Sawtooth G4 running Panther. It actually did work, but fortunately, I had a file backup... When I booted the computer just now, the Apple logo was replaced by a "Do Not Enter" sign. Seeking a google, I find that this happens if your computer recognizes a hard drive over 128GB.

NOTE: If this happens to you, "safe boot" which is the same as holding the shift key until the Apple logo shows. Pretty much like extensions off.

Anyway, I tried making 2 partitions @ 74GB each, and no luck. I uninstalled the driver, and will have to unplug the drive, perhaps get an SATA card and some ATA/SATA adapters. Sorry, vaue and stability are zero, at least I could uninstall, so I give it minimal star rating.

CHRIS BOUGHTON  I installed a Seagate Barracuda 160Gb drive in my G4 Cube and found the problem of only being able to see 128Gb. Downloaded the driver and installed it, and reformatted the drive. All working very well.

ANONYMOUS  Seemed to work okay in my Quicksilver, but a serious, directory-destroying crash a few months later made me wonder of this baby wasn't the culprit. Even Diskwarrior couldn't fix it!

I also bought this company's SpeedTools package... Not only did it not work, it would not even install! Tech Support was crap, no satisfactory response to my e-mails for weeks, and even then, the install package STILL didn't work. Finally, I contacted the Denver/Boulder Better Business Bureau and complained about Intech; they replied:

"The company's report now reflects this unanswered complaint and states that

the company has an unsatisfactory record with the BBB which will remain on

record for three years. and got my money back at last."

I would never do business with Intech again.

ANONYMOUS  Download site didn't work, but they still took my money and have so far failed to reply to my emails regarding obtaining the software I'd been charged for. Suspect something dodgy here. Don't buy it, until you see more reviews from people who've had a better response/service from this company.

WIZZARD  I purchased the download version. I have been sending notes (with my recceipt) for the past two weeks to obtain this update, since I am a registered user and qualify for the free updates for life. However, the company has ignored my notes and I have had NO response from them. Free updates are ONLY good if the company responds and pays attention to it's customer. Given my situation, I would caution people from believing in this company's posted update policy. They guaranttee a response in 2 business days. I guess from where they are located, a business day must be a week.

Sigh, still waiting on this driver download and some kind of response from the company.
