PETER DAWSON I have recently upgraded to OS 10.5 on my Intel Imac, and I notice that I can no longer select which level to start on (O.K., I'll call it a cheat!) by holding down the F10 button when starting the game. I'd really appreciate any solutions to this problem. Peter Dawson. (Version 2.0.6)

CENTRALCOASTCJ I'm still struggling with Level 2 and I can't get through the gates the ones with a half dome in middle and sharp edges on top. In level 1, I could shoot at the center and sometimes it would open. I could also fly "though" it if I press the jet pack while going up. So far, in level 2 I just crash! Any helps? I'm getting verrrry frustrated! Also I saw that using F12 and F2, F3 or F4 could restore health, jet fuel, etc. but these do not work for me. Nothing happens. Any clues why not? I do enjoy this game though ... it's becoming an addiction. So help this addict get through Level 2 if you can. Thanks! (Version 2.0.2)

DEJAVU Well hopefully by now you have figured it all out. Helpful hints. Save all your missles for the robot launchers and those pesky tiny laser R2D2 guys. In level 2, you have to be on the lookout for all the missles launchers and especially those pesky R2D2 laser guys. The gates open when you blast the small statue eyes. Once the eye is blasted the gates open. Don't waste weapons on the big brontosaurs, fly around em. You may need to shoot the TRex especially near the eggs. Use missles...they are your main weapons. Collect every weapons pod you can. Use the spray weapon to disarm the rotating electric towers...each one. You can collect enough of that weapons to keep blasting them til they black out and the elctric field will fall. Missle the robot missle launchers. In the elctric field...circle the outside between the towers and the rock wall, swerving in and out to blast the towers until they are all dead, watch out for the launchers. My order is the palm field, blast the eye to open the gate just outside of that. Collect all the weapons outside the gate before entering. Then the electric field, then the lava pit. Watch for the laser guys here near the volcano.I kill off all the robots first...then collect weapons and eggs. Collect each arae's eggs before moving on to the next area. This level 2 is my favorite. Wait till you get to level 3... the gates have rotating windows...have to time it perfectly...you'll use your thrusters then. Goodluck (Version 2.0.2)

DINOKILLER Looking for hints. Love the game, although I wish it had more levels. But, sinnce I'm still working my way thru level 3, that's not so bad right now. One thing I'm wondering - on level 3, you've got all those sandworm things. They pop out of hte ground, no sign they're about to do so, and nothing seems to kill them. I even tried flying directly at their maws and shooting into them, but just got killed. Is there any strategy to use against them, other than try and avoid being killed by them? (Version 2.0.1)

PETER DAWSON I've played this game constantly for the last 18 months, so there's not much I don't know about it. There is NO way of killing those big grubs that come up out of the ground at you. The only thing you can is get out of their way, and quickly. I find you have a much better chance of getting the eggs near where they are, if you stay really close to the ground. (Version 2.0.2)

RENE Just bought a Mac Mini (m a die-hard linux person); never played any real video games.Found nanosaur 2; tried it and am hooked. What an awesome game and how well it runs on my liitle Mac mini. Well done! It took me a while to get the keyboard flight controls under control and to find how to switch and aim weapons. I'm still stuck on level one but I'm getting better. I have a couple questions, though. What are the weird ballon-like things on long, tall sticks? I can destroy them fine, but they never seem to attack me. And what are these strange, open, hemispheric, concrete-like things? I can shoot at them like no tomorrow but nothing seems to have an effect? yet they don't seem to want to harm me either? Since I am a complete stranger/newfie to the gaming world, I have no idea of whether or not questions like these are 'appropriate.' I looked for 'hints' (cheats?) on the Internet, but found nothing. MARIOLE I suspect that the balloon things are just obstacles that can be shot down. The concrete posts open the large gates when shot down once. There are no actual cheats for Nanosaur 2, but you can put it on 'Kiddie Mode' if you go into settings. This will remove the majority of monsters. There is also a key that will level-skip you (it's found somewhere in the Readme file). Hope this helps a bit. (Version 2.0)

JOHN This is a great game. It's fascinating flying around prehistoric landscapes and swooping to pick up the eggs. It's an easy-to-use flight simulator where you can just play kiddie mode and enjoy the scenery from the perspective of a pterodactly (or is it a pteranodon?) Even on kiddie mode you will need weapons to deal with the wandering robots on level 2. I'm stuck on level 2 because I can't find where to look for more eggs, and I'm sure there are more than 8. Hints would be welcome! Way to go Pangea! (Version 1.0.7)

SGRAY81 Some of the eggs on level 2 are hard to find and to access because they are inside the electric grid. Before you attempt to enter the grid, fly along the perimiter and destroy any turrets you see. This will eliminate many problems you may have while gathering the last few eggs. There are two ways you can go about collecting the eggs. One is being very, very careful and flying inbetween the jolts. The other (it took me awhile to figure this out) is to destroy the grid. Each source of electricity can be taken out with two heat-seeking missiles. You should have well over a hundred missiles if you want to choose this method and still have a decent number when entering level 3. (Version 2.0)
| Jul 4 2006 |
PETER DAWSON The eggs are pretty easy to find as they have a stream of light coming off them, pointing upwards. They are normally near a gun embankment, just to make it difficult. If you destroy the guns, using your heatseeker missiles(the ones that go around corners), you should be able to collect all the eggs easily. The eggs that are inside the big electricity grid can only safely be picked up by destroying the nearby power towers. Don't waste missiles destroying all of them, either, as every second tower only needs to be destroyed. Once the towers stop arcing, you'll be O.K. If you think level 2 is hard, just wait til you make it to level 3.

ALEX This game is a lot of fun, and has a pace that casual gamers can enjoy. But like an old coin-op game, there's no way to save between levels. PORTHOS I remember the original Nanosaur on my first iMac in 1999. A fun game that was definately pick up and play. Nanosaur 2 starts off where the original ended.....the Eggs are safe untill some renegade dinosaurs come along and steal the eggs.......they conveniently leave one egg behind which hatches into your main charecter......a teradactyl with a jet pack. My first impressions in the 3D Anaglyph mode were, WOW......its like you are really there and VERY scary when you smash into the side of a massive dinosaur....sparks and particle effects fly out of your screen! The game seemed to crash in the Shutter Glasses option but It still recovered and I did not have to re-boot. Dont try this Option. The game ran very well in 1280x980 at 32 bit colour on my Geforce 4 Ti MDD. Overall, the game is still as pick up and play as its predecessor....a little difficult to get to grips with the controls on the mouse but if that fails you can always use the arrow keys! Cool graphics, great fun, well done ;)...again. (Version 1.0.1)

NOOKSTER Graphics are decent enough, (can see the ground texture tiling though). DOUGLAS ENGELBART It crashes/freezes. Everything works great on my G4mdd1250 (768 MB, OSX.2.6) till the gameplay starts and the Nanosaur flies smoothly from the wormhole on the left to the landscape on the right but then, after only 5 seconds "gameplay", everything freezes. Not even Ambrosia's "Escape Pod" can quit it: I have to force-shutdown my G4. Tried it 3 times with different res-settings; that's enough. I never experienced such a shit. All other Games (UT'04, Neverwinter Nights, Vendetta, Tomb Raider etc) are running perfectly on my G4.

ANONYMOUS I find it funny how bitter people get when their mahcines fall under the minimum system requirements for a game. Then they write up a bad review. You people are idiots... READ THE GAME'S SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS before commenting on how choppy the game is. If you have a crappy old Rage 128 in your G4 then the game won't work! If you have less than 32MB of VRAM then the game won't work. If you have less than 512MB RAM, then the game won't work. (Version 1.0.1)

DOUGLAS ENGELBART Hi, friends; my Radeon 9000pro has 64MB. And why does Nano2 not run in 10.2.6? All other 3D games (I mentioned) do. You can read this about 10.2.8 and see that there is nothing new concerning OpenGL: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120252&sessionID=anonymous|12483178&kbhost=kbase.info.apple.com%3a80%2f But you can read in these reviews how bad OSX.2.8 is compared to the perfectly stable OSX.2.6: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/8564 Thank you. (Version 1.0.1)
| Mar 11 2004 |
I'm not sure that is safe to assume changes in OpenGL are the reason for requiring 10.2.8. Many areas of the OS were updated in 10.2.8. You would really need to ask the developer why 10.2.8 is required. Regardless, I think it is a bit unfair to run the game on a machine which does not meet the requirements and then complain that the game performs poorly. For more on what changed in 10.2.8 see this page: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosxupdate_10_2_8.html (Version 1.0.1)

ANONYMOUS Terrible game. I was a big fan of the first one, and this is a let-down. Play is choppy on my TiBook 1Ghz. Load time was pretty long for the level 1 demo. The controls are awkward. As others have said, it's too easy to die by accident just by clipping a branch. Also, although I prefer flying by mouse, shooting is still by keyboard, a disconnect for me. The "built-in" weapon is useless, and power-ups for better weapons are sometimes quite hard to get. The concept of flying in the game sounded cool, but in the end I missed the tactical flexibility offered by version one's "grounded" dinosaur. And the ultimate critics -- my kids -- were completely put off by the game. With Nanosaur 1, they played it endlessly. With this one, they were unimpressed. (Version 1.0.1)

STUKA Well, the game runs fine in normal quality just fine on my 550Mhz tower (granted it has a radeon 9800 pro, 1.4GHz upgrade had to be sent in for rma) and even under high quality it still runs, just gets some jerks now and then. As for control, I can shoot just fine with my mouse, remember you have to hold the fire keep to do the scream. A for difficulty, I dont find the game hard at all. Mouse controlw orked fine for me, just like any flight sim. I can dip and dive around trees just fine. Getting hurt by a branch isnt a big deal imho. If you had wings made of thin skin and slammed into a tree branch, wouldent it hurt? The only downside is why this game has keyboard control issues and no other game out there does... I loved the 1st game, and this one is just as fun. Although it lacks different species of dinosaurs. But I think this is because its sized down for the demo. (Version 1.0.1)

BRUISER Does the egg-collecting level in N64's Diddy Kong Racing ring any bells? :-) Runs very smoothly at 1280x854 at both high and normal settings on my albook 1.25ghz (64mb Radeon 9600 Mobility). Anaglyph mode works quite well in b/w. I may need to calibrate it better for colour. I'm just using $1 red/blue glasses though. Overall, I prefer to play without glasses - much more colourful. Very impressive graphics. I imagine splitscreen multiplayer would be pretty cramped. Pangea, please update it for LAN or even network play. The controls aren't too bad, but it seems far too easy to die if you clip a branch. Kinda takes the fun out of it. They need better configuration options. And there isn't much that attacks you when you're up high. I think I preferred the combat in Nanosaur 1. Overall, very impressive. (Version 1.0.1)

ANONYMOUS WTF are you taking about????? I think this is just a flame review. (Version 1.0.1)

GEO I've read some reports that this game doesn't run so well on 1GHz G4 Powerbooks, and I can attest to the fact that it runs somewhat herky jerky on our 700 MHz G4 flat panel iMac. However, and oddly enough, it runs great on my dual processor 450 MHz G4, which technically is below the system requirements. Certainly, the fact that I have a Radeon video card has something to do with this. Anyway, the game is just awesome and a lot of fun to play. I've played it in 3-D mode and normal mode and it works great. The 3-D mode is so cool that I would think this is the future of gaming. It truly adds a new dimension (har har) to the game. ANONYMOUS Confusing: is this the new Nanosaur: Hatchling demo? If it is, why doesn't the title say so? (Version 1.0.1)

ANONYMOUS Yes, i think they have to made an update (same name) because the demo crashed on G3 systems (like mine). F10 starts an Tunneldemo for measureing FPS (higher than in real game, not so much to do for CPU). G3-867 , ATI 7000 PCI; 800x600, 32 Bit 53 FPS in Tunneldemo. (Version 1.0.1)

ANONYMOUS Mac update accidentally listed the beta demo as being publically available when it was only meant to be available to a small number of users for beta testing. (Version 1.0.1)

ANONYMOUS Get a better graphics card. It's quite playable on my G4/450 w/RADEON 9000. BTW is there only the one level in single-player mode? My Demo ran out too before I could figure that out. (Version 1.0.1)
| Mar 10 2004 |
BRIAN GREENSTONE Actually, it runs fine at 500mhz or even 400mhz as long as you have a really good 3D card to make up the difference. I ran it on a G4/400 with a Radeon 8500 and it was fine. The system requirements say iMac G4/700 because 700mhz is the slowest G4 iMac that exists, and only the G4 iMac's have Radeon / GeForce 3D chips. (Version 1.0.1)

BRIAN GREENSTONE No, adventure mode has 3 levels, but in demo mode you can only play level 1. (Version 1.0.1)

BOOMSHANKA yep - get a decent gfx card before writing your 'review'! Runs fine here - ati 9000 (Version 1.0.1)

ANONYMOUS Briefly leaked on purpose to generate a little hype. It is a great game though. My "demo" ran out today. So now I'm waiting until the 10th when it's released. (Version 1.0)

ANONYMOUS The file that was listed here was never meant to be downloaded by the public. The file that IMG Pro users were allowed to download is the beta demo that only IMG Pro users were suppose to be able to download. The reason why the file was pulled was not because of a bug but because it was a beta that wasn't suppose to be available to the public. (Version 1.0)

ANONYMOUS Ghosting, to me, in color anaglyph mode; works fine in B&W mode. This was expected (to me; I work with anaglyphs as my day job) and the effect is far better in B&W mode. I had hoped for red/cyan anaglyph, not red/blue which gives an overall purple cast and the image is dimmer, but 3D effect works well. Was not able to test blue-line sync shutter glasses. ANONYMOUS The Nanosaur II demo is awsome! Great graphics with smooth framerates at 1024x768 on my 867 Mhz PowerBook. Even under battey power the game runs well. Nice job Pangea. Hope to buy the full game when its available. Flying low through the trees is a good rush. Kinda reminds me of snowboarding after a good dump of powder! (Version 1.0)

ANONYMOUS I played the demo on my G4 450 MP, 1 gig of ram, radeon 8500, 10.2.8 system. It was VERY smooth, set at best graphics, at 1024 x 768 res, 32 bit. This will be a favorite, I'm sure. The graphics are excellent to say the least. Pangea seems to know how to get the most out of the Mac, it's good to see you don't need a cutting edge Mac to play high quality games. As for stability, I can't rate that yet. The demo works fine, but..... (Version 1.0)

CAP'N HECTOR Man, this game rocks. The control is crisp and believeable. The graphics are top notch, and the theme (dinos with guns) can't be beat. The only thing I don't like is that it appears that I can't get the full version yet
