MACWRAPPER  on a similar topic - StuntCopter is available for the iPhone/ipod touch on the app store. Looks great - they really stayed true to the original design!

Highly recommend you check it out.

TOMDOHERTY  I emailed the developer who responded immediately and solved the 10.4.11 problem. So, re-download ...and enjoy. Well done.

LRKIRSCH  I can't open it either. 10.4.11 on a Power Mac G5. Check out console.log when you try to open Stunt Copter; for me it looks like some kind of a java error. I'm going to paste it into my e-mail to the developer. I couldn't find a specific crash.log for it.

DANIEL  It is a decent recreation of an old classic, and still fun to play. However, it freezes you entire system (at least on a 400 megahertz comp) if you have it behind the Dock or open a menu. I would expect better from a clone of an application that ran fine on my 8 megahertz Mac Plus!

DES COURTNEY  This game needs to default to a 512x344 window to be truly faithful to the original. Having to hide the Dock, since this app is dumb with regards to sizing, hurts the convenience of having this game. (Allowing drops from the top of a 1024x768 screen distorts the scoring system of the game...)

DON-MARTIN   Actually, the original game always checked the screen size, and made the game as big as the screen. I used to play the original game on a Mac 2 fx and a 19 inch screen. The scoring system worked the same too.

DOODER0001  This gets 2 stars just for being stuntcopter, and 1 more for being 1.0. Slow gameplay (java to blame?), bad sound, a few glitches (window size/location and movement). If these are cleaned up (they seem like easy fixes to me, but I'm not the developer), this could push 4+ stars. Glad to see a great classic back! :D

***½.

DREMWKR  I am glad to see the game, I liked then and I like it now. I found the game hard to control (on a DPG4). I knew it was controled by the mouse , but it had no instructions on game control. It doesn't sound as good as the orginal. Since this is a v1 game, I hope these improvements can be made.

On the plus side, the game was stable and bug free.

TODD  I still have the original on my Mac SE. Sound isn't quite right on this X version, and copter movement isn't smooth. Still, it's great to have this vintage 80s game available again!

SIMX  Compared to the original version of the game, this version is an admirable attempt, but it doesn't live up. First of all, the controls are NOTORIOUSLY hard in this version, where they weren't at all in the original version. It makes it pretty much impossible to control the helicopter.

The graphics are pretty much true to the original, which is fine, but the sound isn't. I was disappointed in that.

Finally, the window doesn't respect your Dock, as a normal Mac OS X app should. Bad.

This game could be a great remake, but it still needs some work.

DON-MARTIN ANTELL   It's the same sounds as in the original game, copied straight from the Stunt Copter Application ;)

Also if controls are funky, try updating your Java. It behaves badly on versions older than 1.4.1. Runs nice and smooth on my 700 Mhz eMac.

nonsense. FOR YOU and on YOUR Mac you may have troubles.

none here. the helicopter moves as i wish it to, with the movement of my mouse. dead easy, simple.

one thing, i wish it were possible to actually crash the helicopter into the ground. instead, there is a limit as to how close to the ground the helicopter can go and rather makes it easy to drop your man into the wagon's haystack.

PORTHOS   HA HA! BRILLIANT!

I do not remember the original game but from the moment I first started this up I laughed. Not only does it look extreemly simple and classic...it also plays like a classic.......these type of games dont try to be snazzy and upbeat but rather concentrate on what makes a good game.....and thats fun.

You control the Helicopter with your mouse and the objective is to safely drop your little stunt man onto a horse drawn hay cart. On my first drop I managed to kill the horse with my little guy. I almost wet myself laughing.

Although BRILLIANT 3D graphics may look good compared to this, sometimes the fun is missing. This game takes you back to classics like Space Invaders and Pong....simple but DANGEROUSLY addictive.

My only problem was the sound....does get rather annoying after a while but you must remember that is probably what it sounded like on the original.

Very funny and entertaining ;)
