NORM TORO  Novell GroupWise 7 Released August 2005. Stuff it file for MAC, Novell Cross platform GroupWise client for Mac. Fast (yes even for a Java client), stable (who want the email composer to shutdown in the middle of a 50 page rant. And finally it works the way a Mac program should work, clean and sexy.

ANONYMOUS  JAVA…you know what they say " when you step in shi- it stays on your boots".

This is slow to launch, poorly featured and the interface -> puke!

Occassionally and I mean rarely use it (just so that I do not have to start the Dull) and verify that Mac Mail hasn't missed something (hasn't happened).

Now if the IT wetbacks would delete the filtering of my home e-mail address…stupid, overpaid Wintel crap!

PKRUG  Well, it's about a billion times faster than the previous incarnations. But it's still slow to launch (JAVA) and I can't resize the main window to see the highlighted message and the message list.

It seems usable for my purposes (once a month check my groupwise mail for the 1 or 2 messages that don't come in to Apple's Mail.app).

NOVELL IS A PIG FUCKER  What a bunch of losers. Novell hacks me off more than any other company. I've never seen such incompentence, arrogance, and stupidity by any other corporation except maybe Enron. These guys should be indicted. I would be perfectly content however if they just gave up and announced that they were no longer supporting the Macintosh platform. They already aren't but they're still making promises and sales pitches as if they are and then stealing people's money. 1. GroupWise, Netware 6, and Netware Client perform horribly and suck money out of your IT budget regardless of the platform(s) and clients used and especially on the server side. 2. This Java client crap is a slap in the face. Java sucks. They couldn't even be bothered to write a Mac OS 9 client in the last 8 years and the only reason one exists at all is because they bought it from Corel. The "current" version doesn't even support HTML among other things, and the PC version doesn't have a proper way to change font sizes in e-mail! WTF!? 3. Their web page never works for $H!T. I can't even download this abomination using either I.E. or Safari. The page is blank in the area where the links should be. Typical. Go to hell, Novell. I'm glad our company dumped you this year and switched to XServes. Apple servers = free unlimited licensing, great tech support, and, what a concept, their shit actually works. Life is so much eaiser.

ANONYMOUS  For a third beta version, this seems very unpolished and lacking in even basic features. It seems more like an alpha version. For example, I can't delete messages using the "Delete" key. (Only hitting the Trash icon will work.) Posting new appointments results not in their being put on my calendar but rather in their showing up in my mailbox as a message. Proxie access settings (along with a number of other settings) can't be set or changed. Setting up regular appointments with Autodate doesn't work (indeed, the command isn' t even in the menu). Drag and drop functions for attachments don't appear to work. Changes in preference settings often don't "stick," including my .sig file (not that it would matter, because the application won't even attach the .sig file, as far as I have been able to figure out). E-mail containing HTML will all too often freeze the application. The list goes on and on and on....

Clearly this version is nowhere near ready for prime time. A LOT of work clearly remains to be done before it's even close to feature parity (or even usability) with the Windows client. This leaves me stuck with either using web access to read my e-mail or the painfully slow solution of using Virtual PC to run the Windows version.

ANONYMOUS  Very slow to load on my DP 450 running 10.3.2. OS9 client is much faster running in Classic. Provides very basic functionality without the usual features including drag and drop functions ie. addition of attachments to email or rescheduling appointments. When left open overnite it froze. Stick with the OS9 client for now.
