NADEEMF Works very very well. Sad to see there is no intention to make it iPhoto 08 compatible - I can't believe iPhoto's keyword handling is now as good as Keyword Assistant. (Version 1.9.4)

AVI4NOW Finally an Intel-compatible version! I've been feeling the iPhoto pain since I switched to an Intel machine - now I can start tagging my photos again! THANKS!! (Version 1.9.2)

THIRSTYROBOT This tool is a must-have for iPhoto. It simplifies what is otherwise a near-impossible keyword tagging system. Thanks for the new Intel-compatible version, Ken! (Version 1.9.2)

KAZ219 I too !! I'll donate at once, the day it fully works with my version, and then commit myself to never ever update iPhoto again. (Who needs "Frontrow bug fixes" anyway ?) (Version 1.9.1)

PIXELGRASS I tried the edit proposed by EDITCANDY - changed 6.0.2 to 6.0.4 but... iPhoto crashed :( In any case Ken ... I (amongst many others I'm sure)join the hymn that KA is a great plug-in and that I also am looking forward to an update... :)

EDITCANDY I love Keyword Assistant but it's in need of at least a small update. I do feel for the Intel Mac crowd out there. But even for us dark ages PPC people, we've seen two iPhoto updates and nary an update for KA (note to Ken Ferry, please don't abandon us). I was sick of not having the full KA feature set so I decided to hack around and I figured out how to very simply turn the features back on. Can't promise you it's a good idea but if you're a little adventurous, here's how: Quit iPhoto -- Find your iPhoto application -- Control-click and choose Show Package Contents -- Drill through the following directories: Contents:NetServices:Bundles:KeywordAssistant.NetService:Contents:MacOS Open KeywordAssistant in your favorite text editor (I like Smultron). Search for the phrase: "WarnForiPhotoVersionsAbove" and change the version number that immediately follows to something that corresponds to your current version of iPhoto -- Good luck. DIABLO943 A great application, but now with recent updates to iPhoto, it is hobbled. You don't always appreciate the tools you have until you lose them! Please. Update KA soon... (Version 1.9.1)

NADEEMF A great addition makes adding keywords less of a chore. Its usefulness is highlighted by my recent move to an Intel mac where it doesn't yet work and I'm struggling to use iPhoto's built-in keyword UI. I'm eagerly awaiting the Universal Binary. (Version 1.9.1)

PIXELGRASS It seems that when editing in full screen, the navigation function (option+arrow) sometimes doesn't work, often after using an edit tool. Then you have to exit and re-enter full screen editing to get it going again. I'm using iPhoto 6.0.1. Anyone else have this bug? Apart from this bug, this little plug-in is awesome ! Thanks a lot to the developer... (Version 1.9.1)

JEFF With the most recent version (1.8.9) and iPhoto 5.0.2, I've been having seemingly random crashes; when I am going through my pictures and naming them and categorizing them using KA, iPhoto sometimes unexpectedly quits, and all the information I've entered is lost. (Version 1.8.9)

KEN FERRY a) I have replied to everyone who has sent me email. If you didn't receive a reply then your spam filter is getting a little too excited. b) It does work on 10.2 for almost everyone, but I have received a few reports of iPhoto installations where KA runs into an error having to do with AppleScript (symptom: no KA menu). I think I've worked around the problem, and it will be fixed in the next release. If you are one of those having the problem, email me for a beta - I'd like to test on your system. (Version 1.7.2)

AM Sorry about that - yes - probably my spam filter (SpamAssassin) is acting up! I am in communication with the developer now. Thanks Ken for your persistence.

AM Does not work on my OS X 10.2.8 and iPhoto 4.0.3. No KA Menu. Have written to developer with no response yet. The other issues is if future Apple updates will break all the time one might put into using this App with iPhoto. What if Apple starts a new Keywording system?

AM Since I had the problem with KA not working on my system, my comment about KA breaking Apples Keywords were in haste. KA works along with the existing iPhoto keyword system - and I dont see how any changes from Apple could break it.

DJDARLEK Its good to know that this program exists... even if it is a little late.. I spent MANY hours adding keywords to my 6k+ iPhoto collection... using the inbuilt Keyword thing. Well done for beating Apple to it! (Version 1.7)

MACSPUDSTER I concur that KA is a good tool. Alphabetizing keywords is a major step forward. I submitted a request to Apple some 3+ years ago to add this functionality, then 2+ years ago I identified a more user-oriented "sort" / grouping solution for Keywords: Simply let the user drag keywords throughout the list. I I have this keyword list (comma-separated for this review) { Dadddy, Mommy, Grandpa 1, Sister 1, Grandpa 2, Brother 1 } then Sister 1 and Brother 1 are "separate" from / not grouped with Daddy, Mommy. Now, if create my keywords in the order I want {Daddy, Mommy, Sister 1, Brother 1}, grouping is fine. KA's ability to alphabetize at least puts keywords in "useable" form. Apple needs to allow the user to drag keywords anywhere in the list they want, this to group the keywords by how the user prefers the list. OR, KA v1.8 can do this: either alpha sort or user-defined list order. And don't forget to add a "Confirm" dialog box for alpha sort (and make the "Cancel" button the "default") so it doesn't undo the user-defined list order! BTW: I worked at Apple within the Human Interface Group way back when... (Version 1.7)

TOSHI CLARK I have been using Keyword Assistant for a few weeks in the testing process, and I find that it simply makes keywording useful. Without it the keywording functionality of iPhoto is simply horrible: unless you add all of your keywords in strict alphabetical order, and furthermore have a very limited number of them, the keywords panel (Cmnd-K) quickly become an unnavigable mess. With KA the problem is resolved in many ways. Most trivially the program lets you alphabetize your keywords. However, given that you haven't been running KA, I would bet that most everyone would have only a handful of keywords, if any. The real beauty of the program is in its autocomplete. With this familiar feature one can quickly tag a day's worth of shots with the hands completely on the keyboard, using the keyboard shortcuts (also provided by KA) to navigate between images while KA is in the foreground. Soon all of your images will be keyworded if you have even a trace of OCD in your makeup, and then the possibilities for individual pages for each keyword and the like become clear, especially when used with BetterHTMLExport templates that utilize keywords.
